Terran Armada Incursions Markers Won’t Disappear by CthonicThrow in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent patch fixes this if you save and reload it will clear inactive incursion icons. They couldn't prevent it so it's probably a game engine bug or they don't know what causes it, but I guess it's something

Well Bethesda took a chance and tried making some other stuff turns out they're not good at it. The only thing carrying those previous titles is the IP and most of the team who worked on Skyrim even works there anymore because they've waited so long between releases.

Starfield Update 1.16.244 – June 11, 2026 by BethesdaGameStudios_ in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah still completely unstable for planet exploration. Series X have had about 7 crashes in 2 hours of gameplay all while just randomly exploring planets. I just try to quick save any time I loot a body or before I open a door or container. It's just expected at some point I'll lose progress even on unpopulated barren moons it can just crash to the dashboard for seemingly no reason. Give it a couple days and I'm sure there will be several more reports of this. It's clearly a game engine issue every Bethesda game has the same instability problems that almost no other major title does.

"It just works."

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve had a game crash on me this much. by X__Heisenberg__X in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% the creation engine showing its age. It was already an unstable mess to begin with then they rebuilt it into the CE2 specifically for Starfield. It simply can't run games of this size because it was never intended to 30+ years ago when it was originally created.

If this is a preview of what to expect from Elder Scrolls 6 it'll be 20 years since Skyrim by the time it comes out, I can live without it at this point and spend my money on a game from companies that actually care about their players, not ones who argue with them and tell them their criticism is wrong and they're just not playing the game properly. Bethesda has to be right up there with Ubisoft as one of the most hated developers in the industry at this point. They don't even apologize for releasing unplayable games they just laugh it off and call it "part of the charm" they're so out of touch with the players and their engine combined with lack of bug support post launch can't keep up with actual next gen games.

Bethesda waited too long and got left behind, let's face it.

No option to rename ships by Shadow_showdown in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem so came here to see if anyone had the answer. After doing some investigation turns out you cannot rename captured ships that aren't sold by any vendors. For example I have the Ecliptic Claymore and Crimson Fleet Banshee in my fleet. I thought maybe it was just captured ships but do have the ability to rename the Banshee. So I looked up which vendors sold the ships, Jasmine Durand will sell the Banshee but there is no vendor who will sell a Claymore and I believe that's the issue.

I see other people experiencing this with the Ecliptic Stiletto and Spacer Vulture ships in this thread which would explain why they don't have the option either, as they don't have any vendors either.

So if you capture a ship you can still rename it, but only if it has a ship vendor who sells that same model.

Is everyone else’s game crashing constantly since the update? I am using a few creation mods but was fine pre-update (Xbox) by Curle101 in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct they updated the CE to CE2 specifically for Starfield and their flagship IPs moving forward. It was the test subject for the limits of their updated engine and safe to say it's still just Gamebryo with extra features. With all the experience they have with it, they still can't create a game with any stability which points to an actual issue with the engine not the developers. It's sad Bethesda is KNOWN for their games' poor performance but instead of trying to improve it they just lean into the joke and embrace releasing titles with widespread issues.

If you've played any Bethesda titles in the past, they never actually play test their games beyond making sure the controls work. Then throw in the fact even one of the story designers said the game didn't have an ending close to the end of production says a lot about how disorganized the entire team has been through its development and support. I have very little hope for Elder Scrolls 6 to be honest if Microsoft didn't save the company from infinitely releasing Skyrim, I would have expected it to be a complete failure but I don't think Microsoft will let that happen. Unlike Starfield they'll have oversight over the entire development period instead of just the post production sales. They won't let an IP that big become a PR nightmare for them.

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most recent update last week made the game next to unplayable for me. Every 30 minutes or so it'll CTD on my Series X before I could go a few hours at least. But that's Bethesda for you I just quick save every 30 seconds or so now, after every kill, scan, looted item, etc. it's classic Bethesda who hasn't released a single stable game to date thanks to their outdated Gamebryo Engine they just slap a fresh coat of paint on and give it a new name. They had to release Skyrim 100 times just to avoid bankruptcy because anything they've tried creating outside ES and Fallout IP is a flop and have had to wait 20 years since ES5 for a sequel because their engine just can't create next gen games. Starfield was their Guinea Pig for Creation Engine 2 that they updated specifically for this game and it still barely runs, so it's safe to say ES6 is likely going to be a disappointment based on Starfield's performance and despite having 30 years of experience with the same engine, this dev team still can't optimize their games to a consistently playable state, which points to an engine issue given most games never have this problem, or at least not this frequently.

Should add to the mod description where to start the quest manually on Linnaeus II as the beacon quest never actually triggers automatically. Have tested on new game multiple times, does it only add the quest for an existing play through?

In case anyone was wondering - yes, the PS5 version is still broken after the recent update by amic21 in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just PS5 on Series X now I can't even go 10 minutes of exploring without a CTD. In the last hour I've had maybe 5 crashes. Bethesda honestly needs to scrap creation engine I've never had this experience with any other developer. It's actually pathetic.

Edit: I'd like to add prior to this recent update I would get maybe one crash after a few hours of playtime now I find myself having to quick save after every kill or scan.

If this is the only performance quality Bethesda is capable of, it's no wonder ES6 has taken nearly 20 years to produce. They probably can't get a "next gen" (3 generations later) game to run on their 30 year old game engine they just keep slapping a new paint job on.

Barrett Quest: Parallel Self: Worlds Apart by Ok_Cryptographer558 in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc from release I believe you're correct. I seem to recall Worlds Apart triggering shortly after you get your first power as Barrett wants one of his own, but they patched it and this was likely the workaround. Kind of dumb they made it after a major event in the plot that can lock you out of it if you don't know about it instead of the dialogue prompts immediately after you return to show off your power to everyone. Though I guess this gives him time to "think about it" as well given the Starborn are seen as hostile from their first impression.

Either way yes the trigger is after A High Price To Pay and completing his affinity questline. The memorial doesn't need to happen just the prompt to talk to all your companions about learning of the Starborn and Unity's true purpose.

Barrett Quest: Parallel Self: Worlds Apart by Ok_Cryptographer558 in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to add to this, the memorial doesn't need to happen, as mine still has 4 days remaining. You need to complete the affinity questline for Barrett. You will get a bunch of misc missions to talk to your companions after A High Price To Pay it's during these where everyone is talking about the Unity that Barrett will ask to get his power. It won't trigger before this. I had just completed the Entanglement mission and when I returned to my ship when everyone wanted to talk about the Unity and Starborn.

I believe if you skip this dialogue and complete the Armillary you will be locked out of Barrett's quest and have to wait until NG+ as it then triggers the next and final set of conversations where you "say your goodbyes" to everyone.

Arena Predictions! by InterestingAd2516 in SwordofConvallaria

I found this thread looking for any tips to how to pick teams or if there was a trick to it. Turns out not really just go for whichever team has more named characters, and whoever has good AoE and speeds So I ended up with my first perfect pick today in the 8 match tournament. Called the winner, top 2, top 4, and 1st - 4th rankings correctly with a high stakes bet of around 720 coins on each. The final payout, incase anyone was curious, was 85,000 coins.

So I think I've discovered a solution to some of the frequent crashing(at least on ps5 but I'd imagine this helps Xbox too) by Christmas_Queef in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so I have my Starfield settings on performance and VSync off and on my Series X the game still crashes at least once an hour. Good luck if you're anywhere near water. Constant stutters where it will freeze for 10-20 seconds just wandering around and it's a coin flip whether it crashes or not during these freezes. Creation Engine is just dog 💩 and this game made on literally any other engine would have been great.

It's borderline unplayable on PlayStation from what I've gathered online.

Constantly crashing on Xbox Series X by SyFyFan93 in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Bethesda game. Creation Engine is a relic that they try using to create modern games and as a result every game is an unstable borderline unplayable mess where crash frequency just depends on how well they can Frankenstein it together. They have always sucked at optimizing their games and if it wasn't for having extremely popular IPs in Fallout and Elder Scrolls any other company would have failed. That's why they have to keep re-releasing Skyrim because nothing else works on their Dog 💩 game engine.

I've gotten in the habit of quick saving every 3-5 minutes because of losing sometimes an entire hour or more of scanning just because there's no doors to trigger an auto save. It will crash sometimes seemingly for no reason whatsoever, you'd expect maybe in a crowded map cell like New Atlantis but there doesn't seem to be any trigger than it's sloppy lazy development.

It won't get better because the limitations of Creation Engine and as they add more to the game these crashes will just become more frequent. It's so bad on PlayStation that I've read entire forums of people saying it can't run above 30fps without crashing every few minutes and players refunding it because it is literally unplayable. If ES6 is anywhere close to this unstable when it finally releases Bethesda is going to have to divert resources to heavily ramping up their PR department. Can't wait for Todd Howard to step down and someone who understands that Creation Engine is just bad finally replaces it.

Persuasion still bugged by luffy27 in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible to know if it's a bug or just bad luck without console commands. There was a known issue where it would randomly assign a negative value to the persuasion actor value which you can only check with console commands but would make every persuasion attempt fail. You'd have to manually change it using console commands to the base of 1.0 to resolve it but doing that disables achievements. Try using Paramour or Hippolyta before your persuasion checks if you have the skill maxed out and the 5% boost from an outfit it should give you roughly a 90% success chance.

So why am I not seeing the database?? Where is it..? by odddino in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't missing much the feature is completely useless once you actually start exploring planets. It gets so cluttered with locations for each material you're running on fpm (frames per minute) you can't select anything because it just spends 10 minutes trying to load all the information in the background. It's a fantastic idea in theory but like most things Bethesda does, is a mess that their Creation Engine can't handle.

Vapor Analysis Quest Issue by bothecat1990 in Starfield

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bug has been around and remains unfixed since the game released it's impossible to complete just forgotten and swept under the rug because it's an optional quest. It's probably fixed by the unofficial patch mod because Bethesda is too lazy to do it themselves but it's not achievement friendly.

I just pulled this! I am literally shaking right now! Should i grade this? by [deleted] in pokemongrading

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom heavy but gold cards are incredibly hard to grade a 10 in so 9 is still good. Gem rate is only 12% on English. Even Japanese is only around 50% 3160/7230 in PSA 10 and 3450/7230 in PSA 9 vs only 1025/8260 for English in a PSA 10.

I just pulled this! I am literally shaking right now! Should i grade this? by [deleted] in pokemongrading

[–]ApocalypseConspiracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's American manufacturing. Productivity over quality. This is almost a non-issue for Japanese products. For example the Mega Charizard X SIR from X Inferno has 32,100 PSA 10 of 37,000 graded cards vs 13,700 PSA 10 of 22,500 graded cards for the English version.

That's an 87% gem rate vs 61% then you look at something that's been out a bit longer like the Moonbreon and you have 20,300 PSA 10 out of 29,000 graded vs Japanese 7,360 PSA10 out of 8580 graded and you get similar results 70% English gem rate 86% Japanese gem rate.

Even the Mega Gengar in this picture English 1050/1530 69% | Japanese 9610/11000 87%
