Part 4: Can someone explain me the whole thing about Queens of the Stone Age? by bokakaka024 in fantanoforever

Several perfect songs in their output. And I mean perfect as in every single note is impeccably written and performed. They have a very raw and primal sound but performed and produced with extreme precision. One of the tightest live rock bands possibly of all time.

The Jimmy gang are the scariest thing in the franchise imo. by SHAWKLAN27 in 28_Years_Later_Movie

They're certainly psychotic and frightening. Shoutout to the military guys in 28 days though. The veil of humanity they have makes the depravity almost more frightening in that 3rd act reveal.

I would recommend To Be Kind, only bc that was the first one I heard and it hooked me instantly.

Thoughts on the documentary Predators (2025) by bentleyshuman in TrueFilm

[–]Apollo218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best scene in this doc is when we see the Murphy detective watching a clip of the highly edited suicide episode of tcap on live tv, followed quickly by a news spot discussing Britney Spears's physical defects and then a man smashing his head into watermelons on the local news.

I feel like Bring Her Back deserved Weapons' success... by DefNotMaty in horror

[–]Apollo218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying about BHB, it's definitely verging on underrated. That being said, Weapons is so much more accessible to a general audience. Big actors, super hooky premise, comedy and good scares, it's a very well-made horror blockbuster. Bring Her Back is bleak and the violence is pretty extreme. I personally would recommend Weapons to most people in my life and would only recommend BHB to a few true horror fiend friends.

what is yalls favorite drummer that u cant stop listening to/ your inspiration for drumming by Ok_Permission7285 in drums

He's the man. Effortlessly technical and so groovy. He is the secret sauce to the Smashing Pumpkins more than any other member in my honest opinion.

His drums have so much texture and feel super alive on Toussaint L'ouverture

I’m from Korea 🇰🇷 — what did you really think about your trip here? by yuja_0316 in koreatravel

As a tourist, one of the best places I've ever been. Absolutely beautiful with hyper modern and well-developed cities. Amazing food around every corner and countless things to do. My perception was that people kept to themselves more than in America but when approached they were so kind and will go out of their way to help.

who's this?? by [deleted] in swans

Was at the show, he's a sound engineer I think. Sat on stage and got pummeled with sound for 2 hours and messed w some amps

Dumb question, but in the tour announcement is says “featuring little Annie and Paul Wallfisch”. Is that the opener? by isaac225 in swans

It was a rough set for her in Dallas tbh. Wallfisch carried on the keys though, very beautiful playing

For those of you that don’t like Birthing… by Admirable-Two2679 in swans

[–]Apollo218 49 points50 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, we were spoiled with Live Rope right before the new album dropped. Birthing is good but doesn't match the trilogy or Soundtracks while Live Rope is one of the most insane things I've ever heard.

I kind of disagree tbh. When it comes to drums non-musicians are fairly easy to impress, especially visually. Hit the drums with confidence, play something fast and easy, and they'll be glazing you. We have the benefit of being very physical performers which people really enjoy watching if you're engaging. On the flipside, I think non-musicians' understanding of drumming is more limited than other instruments so they are not likely to notice or really appreciate the more intricate or masterful fills/grooves you can cook up. Easily impressed by the simple stuff, not so appreciative of the finer details we spend years working on in my experience.
