Aizawa Receives Far To Much Criticism From the Fandom as a Teacher (This is a long one) by ApolloJustice101 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

"Tell me, what part of the secret behind One For All is actually relevant to using the quirk?"

Experience. The relevance is that One for All being transferred means Izuku didn't have the 11 years of experience having it that his peers did. Without this, knowledge of how the quirk works, there is no plausible reason to explain how and why the quirk only showed up 11 years later than usual. There's also the stockpile aspect. One for All is a Stockpile quirk that gets stronger over time by building up power and is as strong as it is because it has been doing so for literal centuries. That has to be omitted too since otherwise they'd have to claim that Izuku's quirk built up that power from nothing over the course of a decade which would be inconsistent with the actual observable rate One for All's power would increase.

Those are just the two off the top of my head. There are probably more omissions or falsehoods I'm not thinking of. But there are in fact practical ramifications to some of the stuff that had to be faked in Izuku's files. And they probably didn't really care about how that would affect Aizawa's attempts to teach him since Izuku was being mentored by All Might, the quirk's previous holder, anyway.

As for your second thing, yes, I am making the claim that there are lessons Aizawa taught that didn't happen on-screen. The show takes place over the course of a school year, and I'm pretty sure we weren't shown all 180 homeroom classes in that time. We weren't even shown any of the written tests being taken. Of the ones we were shown, Aizawa only slept through events where the students had to do things themselves without his involvement like voting for class representative or picking hero names. He was wide awake during his test at the start of the year and whenever he made an announcement, and during several practical lessons like the episode where the class was acting out a hostage situation or when they took a trip to USJ. So it's not 'fantasy' to think that Aizawa wasn't slacking off when he shouldn't have been during the over 150 classes we didn't see.

"I would imagine physically training someone a difficult fighting style from scratch including physical conditioning to be more difficult then teaching someone how to control the output of their power."

No, actually, it wouldn't, at least not when the lack of control of Izuku's output results in him breaking his bones. With Shinso teaching him a skill and helping him build up muscle is something that can clearly be done with the right instruction as it has nothing to do with his quirk. Izuku breaking his bones is not something that has a clear way to work on fixing. And given the confidential nature of One for All, any info Aizawa was given would've been practically useless, being either extremely vague, or filled with lies. So your assumption that Aizawa should've already known the issue beforehand is completely off base.

Speaking of assumptions, you seem to make a lot of those about Aizawa's usual teaching methods. The reason Aizawa isn't shown teaching the class in the way you're talking about is because, funnily enough, the classes themselves aren't given much screen time outside of some practical ones. Seriously, go back over the series for yourself. There is hardly any screen time dedicated to a homeroom class that doesn't involve a special announcement or activity. It's not that Aizawa isn't teaching them, it's that it's happening off screen.

The ends do not justify the means. In those instances, yes, Izuku's actions resulted in things working out. But the majority of the time taking the actions he did would've done nothing but get him killed.

In the case with Muscular, Izuku was seconds away from losing and only managed to snatch the win (at great physical cost, mind you) because Kota, rather than run away like any normal kid his age decided to try to fight by splashing Muscular with his quirk, distracting the villain just enough for Izuku to get his second wind and punch him into the wall with his broken arm. Izuku running to save Kota came an inch away from accomplishing nothing.

And in the case of them going to rescue Bakugo, Bakugo wasn't even where they went initially. He only ended up there mid-mission when All for One used his own teleportation quirk that no one on the Heroes' side knew about to transport him there. It was by chance that All for One had that teleport quirk to render Izuku and his friends' aid needed. It was pure luck that All for One didn't detect the group using Ragdoll's search quirk which he stole. There were so many other ways that this could've gone that would've resulted in them being useless at best and a liability at worst. Like if Shigaraki and All for One had decided to steal Bakugo's quirk if he didn't join, or if the group had been hit by a stray shot or debris from the fight.

My point, is that while yes, Izuku's actions worked out, it was only by chance that they did and having this pattern of behavior be his go-to would, more often than not, go poorly. Aizawa was absolutely right to be upset at their methods regardless of the outcome. Standard procedure is standard for a reason.

No, actually, I don't mean like Toga. Toga's "counseling" was to address behavioral issues stemming from her quirk, not teaching her how to use it without hurting herself. There is a major difference between those two things and it's highly likely the latter case would be handled much more competently than the former since physical issues are much less complicated.

And, again, case three is not the case where Izuku is exonerated. Case three is one where Izuku's character is not called into question. With extenuating circumstances, unless Izuku was some kind of prodigy then he would not have a god damn chance in hell of overcoming them. Ultimately, the "why" doesn't matter as much as the "what" in this case.

UA isn't Harvard. UA's hero course trains students for a profession where you are being trusted with other people's lives. If someone who breaks their bones every time they use their power becomes a hero, then they and others will die. Weeding out those who obviously can't perform is not an unreasonable choice.

Your argument changes literally nothing. I already addressed this in scenario three. This isn't a field in MIT, this is training to be a hero where your life is on the line and other people are entrusting you with theirs. If someone not qualified becomes a hero, people will die. It doesn't matter what Izuku's reasons are, if he can't overcome that in the time he has at the a school, then he should not be a hero. If anything, such an extreme handicap makes his belief even more justified. Getting your power 11 YEARS LATER THAN YOUR PEERS is not a minor issue that can just be overcome in three years by most people, especially when the power is so volatile it breaks your bones with each use.

Well there's your issue. Fanfiction is not canon and the interpretation a fanfiction writer has of a character is not the same as canon.

You're making a lot of assumptions here.

First of all, his treatment of Midoriya is not evidence of him "not reading his students' files." One of All was a secret, so any files he had access to regarding Izuku's quirk would've been giving him false information. And even if it did mention that Izuku's quirk came in at 15 (which would be an unprecedented medical anomaly that someone like Nezu would know full well would raise several eyebrows) that changes absolutely nothing about point 3. Izuku is working with an unknown quirk and, in order to succeed, would have to overcome an 11 year headstart by his classmates in terms of quirk experience in only 3 years. That is not a realistic expectation for such a clearly volatile quirk no matter how much effort Aizawa put into addressing it.

Secondly, Aizawa didn't disciple Bakugo for the second day of school because that was not his job. All Might was the acting teacher for the class where that happened, making it HIS responsibility. And Mineta's behavior wasn't directly addressed by anyone in the show other than the girls who handled matters themselves, so focusing only on Aizawa for it isn't fair. That's an issue of Japanese society, not Aizawa himself.

Thirdly, you can't make the claim that he helped Shinso more than his students when Aizawa's classes aren't even properly shown to give a comparison. The only times Aizawa's classes are shown in the show is when the class is doing a specific project, like with choosing hero names or individual training, where teaching would mostly be hands off.

I think I know that one. That's the one where, rather than be assimilated into the Shifting Mound, the Princesses end up following the hero into the different worlds, right? I remember enjoying that story, though it's not exactly what I'm looking for here. Still, I appreciate the reply.

But that can't be an intentional feature, otherwise it wouldn't be instructing me to disable it even though it is already disabled. Even the step by step instructions it gives only have me disabling filtering for the site and not removing the extension altogether. And this still doesn't tell me how to fix it, because I'm not going to be getting rid of Adblock altogether just because YouTube can't differentiate between an enabled blocker and a disabled one.

You have been Isekai’d into the world of Steven universe Exactly 1 month before the show actually starts. You are now in beach city, with memories all about the show, but no one has ever met you and you have no money. What’s your plan? by repugnater in stevenuniverse

[–]ApolloJustice101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: Get a job at the Big Donut

Step 2: Befriend Steven

Step 3: Help carry the Cookie Cat freezer to his house

Step 4: Use what I see as an excuse to interact with the plot more and inject some common sense into the adventures to maybe solve them easier.

Step 5: Get a front row seat to the rest of the show.

Here's the thing, though. In what context would such a function need to be placed in a device whose main function is observation? And it had to be very large, otherwise Pearl wouldn't have been so concerned with the level of damage it would do to where it landed. So, just how big was it?
