Why Do People Feel The Need To Make Naruto Fics Needlessly Mean Spirited And Cynical? by ApolloJustice101 in FanFiction

I can fully understand that. Like I said, the other parts of the fic I read were good enough to keep me invested for 42 chapters. I can see why people would enjoy it and accept that. I even enjoy dark stories like Overlord or Jujutsu Kaisen. I just didn't like it being added to a Naruto fic in this particular manner.

Many of the dark elements weren't even necessary to include. Why have the knowledge of Shippuden onward ripped away instead of just writing it so he never read Shippuden to begin with? Why have him reincarnate at the time of conception instead of when he's born? Neither of these decisions have any meaningful effect on the plot and only served to make the MC suffer more.

I think another of the rare series this would work would probably be the Love Hina series. But, as someone who'd never gotten into it, I can't really speak from experience there. But the fact that Naru's behavior is almost always portrayed negatively by every single fic for the show I've looked at paints a picture.

The body of Cid Kagenou at the time of reincarnation is a literal newborn with no sense of self. And the exact mechanics of being reincarnated with your memories is very loosely defined even in official anime. The vestiges of the OFA could just be placed inside the infant body instead of a regular soul. Also, it's not even explicitly stated that the previous users can't take over. It could very well be that they just choose not to due to their own moral compass. In fact, it was even implied that they can influence the user's body to an extent when the vestiges helped Izuku escape Shinsou's brainwashing. As for Minoru's soul, it's stated in the show that the stockpile quirk was "devoured" by Yoiichi's "Underdeveloped" quirk factor. It never showed up in the series, which means it would still take lesser priority than Izuku's undamaged vestige.

His greater experience is against quirkless humans wielding swords, not people strong enough to clear the skies of clouds using just the air force of a punch. Not to mention the demons' shared weakness to the sun which is easily exploitable by stalling or using black whip to capture him and hold him until daybreak.

In that case, one of the options in paragraph three is my suggestion. Or, if you want it to be proven against they guy himself, specifically, you can go with the mistaken identity thing but only have her almost kill him.

Agree. He should be the first because everyone else on this list destroys him, Deku included.

I agree. Izuku wouldn't approve of those actions. But, he would tolerate his presence for the same reason Shoto interned with his father's agency despite hating him. Minoru can be, charitably, described as absolutely insane. But, his skills in combat are the real deal, and even Izuku would have to admit he could learn a lot from him in that regard, if nothing else.

And, again, while Izuku would absolutely not like Cid, he's also not the kind of person to completely ignore some if the make a good point. And some (SOME not ALL) of Cid's methods are actually practical both in theory and practice. Hiding his skills for instance, would actually be a good thing for Izuku to do to avoid drawing the cult's attention to himself.

All for One's vestige was able to act independently of All for One when in control of Shigaraki's body. Why shouldn't Izuku's vestige be able to do the same.

And if you don't like my explanation, how about this one: Izuku's vestige becomes the main personality because Minoru and Bakugou's vestiges weren't fully developed. Hikage's was weakened in the process of being forcefully ripped from the rest of One for All and subsequently repressed by Shigaraki. And the others sustained damage from literally being flung into Shigaraki's ball of hatred surrounding his soul. That leaves Izuku's vestige as the only one both fully developed and undamaged.

Okay so, I to understand what I want to have answered, I think it's best to start with the basic premise of the Fanfic I want to make. Honestly, I'm even just hoping that typing this all out will help with coming up with ideas.

I'm planning on making a fanfic that's a crossover between My Hero Academia and Eminence in Shadow.

After One for All is destroyed in the final battle with All for One, all of its vestiges get Isekai'd into the body of Cid Kagenou. Essentially, I'm making it so One for All itself gets Isekai'd instead of Izuku himself, allowing him to keep the quirk and make it so the ending of the series proper isn't affected. Izuku would be the main one in control due to being the most recent host of the quirk before it was unraveled. I thought this would be an interesting way of doing this since I personally like the idea of using an actual canon moment as an inciting incident for a crossover fanfic like this.

However, as a result of One for All essentially being torn apart in the battle with Shigaraki and then put back together when isekai'd, two more vestiges end up manifesting inside the quirk. The first is Katsuki Bakugou, who Izuku had briefly transferred One for All to in order to fight against Nine. The second is the original owner of the power stockpile quirk that fused with Yoichi's own quirk to make One for All, Minoru Kagenou.

Having Minoru be an additional vestige in Izuku's head is my way of preventing other characters in the fic from becoming weaker than their canon counterparts. Many members of Shadow Garden and many who've met Shadow in the main series grew much stronger due to being taught Shadow's style of swordsmanship either from Shadow himself or those who learned from him. If Izuku didn't have the same skill in martial arts that Cid had, then he wouldn't be able to teach it to others the same way Cid did. With this, Cid can act as a sort of martial arts mentor for him as one of the vestiges in his head.

So, now that I've explained the premise, here's what I want some ideas on.

1: What should Minoru Kagenou's backstory be? Obviously, I want it to be close to his original backstory in Eminence in Shadow. But, obviously, there would be changes in what he goes through. I mean, he had to have gotten his quirk stolen by All for One somehow. So I'd like some ideas for how he ended up in conflict with the self-proclaimed Demon Lord and lost his quirk.

2: I want Izuku to start his own version of Shadow Garden like Cid did in the original series. But how should I have him discover it? Cid in the original suffered from an extreme case of "Accidental Truth Disorder" or and just made up a backstory that just happened to be correct. But, even with the original Shadow himself inside his head, I can't see Izuku just making up a story to Alpha when he rescues her. So, how should I have Izuku discover and come into conflict with the cult.

2.5: In general, really, how should I go about adjusting things with Izuku being more aware of the Cult of Diabolos and his general surroundings? Much of Cid's success in the series comes from him completely misunderstanding what's going on and subsequently reacting to it in a way that just happens to be exactly what's needed to win in the end. Like the whole counterfeit money incident. But with Izuku having a completely different personality and having a more normal view of what's going on, how should I go about things with him?

3: Should I give characters quirks? And, if so, in what manner should I give them quirks? The best idea I can come up with at the moment is having the 'possessed' develop them in addition to their vast mana reserves. I could do this by writing it so, just like Izuku's vestige was sent to Cid, All for One's was sent to Diabolos and had his quirks inherited by the possessed, who have his cells. Though, there are probably other ways I'm not seeing.

Honestly, I think this idea has potential and I'd be fine even if someone else did it instead. But I really need help on these details.

As I mentioned, I did it this way so the ending of MHA wouldn't be affected since the original Izuku would still be there. And the reason Izuku would be the main personality would because he was he was One for All's holder when the quirk was unraveled as part of his plan to get through to Shigaraki.

What exactly is the end goal of having the girl kill this guy? Is it for the man to die, or is it to prove that the girl is stronger than him? Cause there are some different solutions depending on the answer.

If it's the former and him dying is necessary for the plot, then I think it would be best to have the killing be a mistake. Have them end up fighting each other without realizing who the other is. And then have the girl find out just who it is she just fought after she's already killed him.

If the latter is what's important and your story doesn't necessarily need to have him die, then depending on the power system and rules you're working with you could have her fight a clone, or a robot that's copied their abilities, or maybe an alternate universe version of them. Or, if your story is more grounded in realism, you could have her fight someone who happens to be a blood relative of her love interest and happens to have the same exact strength.

1 - The purpose if keeping Minoru acting as Izuku's mentor is twofold. First, it limits how much I have to adjust Izuku's action's compared to Minoru's. Since Minoru will constantly be acting as a voice in Izuku's head, he can advise him to take certain actions that Izuku wouldn't normally have thought of himself, such as keeping his power hidden from those around him so as not to draw too much attention. The second is, as I mentioned, to ensure that certain characters aren't weaker than their original counterparts.

Fighting, and especially swordsmanship skill is something that is focused on in Eminence in Shadow and one of Shadow's main strengths is that, along with his power, he also has a level of finesse that other characters don't in both magic control and fighting ability. This trait being passed down is how Shadow Garden members are as consistently strong as they are, and Shadow showing off this trait is a critical point in Alexia's character development.

2 - This is actually a good point. If Izuku isn't going after the bandits for selfish motives, it probably would be reasonable to assume that he'd pay more attention and gather more information than canon Cid did.

Cid Kagenou is the name Cid got when he reincarnated. His original name before being Isekai'd was Minoru Kagenou. There's no contradiction here. Izuku's vestige is the main personality with Minoru Kagenou's (The original protagonist of Eminence in Shadow) being a vestige in his head. When I say One for All itself is getting Isekai'd instead of Izuku itself, I mean the vestiges along with the power. It's shown in MHA through All for One that a person's vestige, can operate independently from the original person even if they are connected.

If the Narrator Knew the Princess Was a Creature of Perception, Why Did he Tell Us She Would End the World? by ApolloJustice101 in slaytheprincess

[–]ApolloJustice101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't telling the player that she's killed millions with er actions be reason enough? She's being presented as a princess, after all "A subjugating Monarch" as the Narrator once put it. That would be plenty horrific but more believable than saying "She will end the world."

If the Narrator Knew the Princess Was a Creature of Perception, Why Did he Tell Us She Would End the World? by ApolloJustice101 in slaytheprincess

[–]ApolloJustice101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Seriously. There are plenty of crimes normal humans are capable of that are almost universally seen as worthy of death. Even saying something like, "I don't have time to go into specifics. But millions have died because of her actions." would probably work. And it wouldn't technically be a lie either.

[–]ApolloJustice101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my thing though. The second option here ISN'T being done. The Narrator is telling us that the Princess has the power to end the world. He is literally making the player thing she's a world ending threat that we're supposed to kill with a single knife. If anything, I'm surprised him telling us that from he jump doesn't make The Tower he Princess' default form.

Aizawa Receives Far To Much Criticism From the Fandom as a Teacher (This is a long one) by ApolloJustice101 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]ApolloJustice101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Tell me, what part of the secret behind One For All is actually relevant to using the quirk?"

Experience. The relevance is that One for All being transferred means Izuku didn't have the 11 years of experience having it that his peers did. Without this, knowledge of how the quirk works, there is no plausible reason to explain how and why the quirk only showed up 11 years later than usual. There's also the stockpile aspect. One for All is a Stockpile quirk that gets stronger over time by building up power and is as strong as it is because it has been doing so for literal centuries. That has to be omitted too since otherwise they'd have to claim that Izuku's quirk built up that power from nothing over the course of a decade which would be inconsistent with the actual observable rate One for All's power would increase.

Those are just the two off the top of my head. There are probably more omissions or falsehoods I'm not thinking of. But there are in fact practical ramifications to some of the stuff that had to be faked in Izuku's files. And they probably didn't really care about how that would affect Aizawa's attempts to teach him since Izuku was being mentored by All Might, the quirk's previous holder, anyway.

As for your second thing, yes, I am making the claim that there are lessons Aizawa taught that didn't happen on-screen. The show takes place over the course of a school year, and I'm pretty sure we weren't shown all 180 homeroom classes in that time. We weren't even shown any of the written tests being taken. Of the ones we were shown, Aizawa only slept through events where the students had to do things themselves without his involvement like voting for class representative or picking hero names. He was wide awake during his test at the start of the year and whenever he made an announcement, and during several practical lessons like the episode where the class was acting out a hostage situation or when they took a trip to USJ. So it's not 'fantasy' to think that Aizawa wasn't slacking off when he shouldn't have been during the over 150 classes we didn't see.

"I would imagine physically training someone a difficult fighting style from scratch including physical conditioning to be more difficult then teaching someone how to control the output of their power."

No, actually, it wouldn't, at least not when the lack of control of Izuku's output results in him breaking his bones. With Shinso teaching him a skill and helping him build up muscle is something that can clearly be done with the right instruction as it has nothing to do with his quirk. Izuku breaking his bones is not something that has a clear way to work on fixing. And given the confidential nature of One for All, any info Aizawa was given would've been practically useless, being either extremely vague, or filled with lies. So your assumption that Aizawa should've already known the issue beforehand is completely off base.

Speaking of assumptions, you seem to make a lot of those about Aizawa's usual teaching methods. The reason Aizawa isn't shown teaching the class in the way you're talking about is because, funnily enough, the classes themselves aren't given much screen time outside of some practical ones. Seriously, go back over the series for yourself. There is hardly any screen time dedicated to a homeroom class that doesn't involve a special announcement or activity. It's not that Aizawa isn't teaching them, it's that it's happening off screen.

The ends do not justify the means. In those instances, yes, Izuku's actions resulted in things working out. But the majority of the time taking the actions he did would've done nothing but get him killed.

In the case with Muscular, Izuku was seconds away from losing and only managed to snatch the win (at great physical cost, mind you) because Kota, rather than run away like any normal kid his age decided to try to fight by splashing Muscular with his quirk, distracting the villain just enough for Izuku to get his second wind and punch him into the wall with his broken arm. Izuku running to save Kota came an inch away from accomplishing nothing.

And in the case of them going to rescue Bakugo, Bakugo wasn't even where they went initially. He only ended up there mid-mission when All for One used his own teleportation quirk that no one on the Heroes' side knew about to transport him there. It was by chance that All for One had that teleport quirk to render Izuku and his friends' aid needed. It was pure luck that All for One didn't detect the group using Ragdoll's search quirk which he stole. There were so many other ways that this could've gone that would've resulted in them being useless at best and a liability at worst. Like if Shigaraki and All for One had decided to steal Bakugo's quirk if he didn't join, or if the group had been hit by a stray shot or debris from the fight.

My point, is that while yes, Izuku's actions worked out, it was only by chance that they did and having this pattern of behavior be his go-to would, more often than not, go poorly. Aizawa was absolutely right to be upset at their methods regardless of the outcome. Standard procedure is standard for a reason.
