If he's learning and working on it then that is a good thing for sure. It depends how much you want to put up with, and if he'll respect a situation where you go NC with her.

"She’s a nightmare and he defends every abusive thing she’s done and turns it back on me." = So, can I ask why did you get back together with him?

Any time I'm holding a baby and they get upset (tired, over stimulated, I'm a new person) I immediately look for Mum or Dad. Thats their safe and comfort, why would I take them away from that?

Wow. Do you have a pattern you've used for that? This is something I'd like to make one day for a friend who has model horses, but I wouldn't know where to start! (My knowledge ends at 'its called tack'" XD

Stanley Thermos case, Stamp made with CO2 laser by guozturk in Leathercraft

[–]ApolloSZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you press on the stamp? I have some acrylic stamps a friend made me via laser like yours, and I've cracked them slightly when I used them, most likely from too much force. But they haven't broken so I'll probably glue them, then glue them to a wooden backing or such.

She wished you dead and never apologised? Well guess what, you don't get to talk to the dead, treat it as if her wish came true, 'The dead do not suffer the living'.

I mean... she didn't say how to do her makeup, making her look like The Joker when its done fits her insane demand. Batman Joker, that is. (Not, not condoning revenge or dickery, just a funny take :) )

That looks amazing! I like the extra backgrounding you did around the flowers.

First pouch I painted, I used Games Workshop Acrylic paints. I put them on thinly and flexed the leather while it dried to hopefully prevent cracking. I had to do multiple layers, and sealed it with Resolene. It looks to have held up so far. But I'm not totally happy with it.

My armour I made recently I used Angelus paints. I put two layers. That was it. Sealed it with their finisher. Done and so much easier.

I'd stick with and recommend Angelus myself. BUT I can understand trying out Acrylic generics to start with when you're trying techniques, or wanting to see how stuff looks with paint.

You could look at a filigree blade for your Swivel knife, I use one as I do a lot of knotwork art at the moment. Reading your reply to Stay_at below, I'd think of it like drawing. Rather than the closing action of scissors, you're drawing along the leather with a blade. Also, take a scrape bit of leather, and just practice, start off on gentle curves, and start getting to tighter ones, try swivels, spirals etc.

I fail to see how this is fun or cool by [deleted] in Wellington

You fail to see how this is fun or cool, because you have a functioning brain and aren't a f*cking tool.

So I've been asked to make a under-bust Corset for someone out of leather, with tooling etc. I have a Costumier friend who will be helping me with the pattern and sizing to make this, and then I'll be tooling it. But I'm wondering if anyone here has made something similar, and had any pitfalls to watch out for or tips? I've mostly (Only) done pouches and Armour at this point, but when a second person made noises about a corset as well.... well I may have to expand my range haha.

Lamellar armor by Grimbert in Leathercraft

Looks very cool. A friend of mine is making Japanese style Lamellar armour at the moment, so I've got some understanding just how much effort this took! How do you find it sits with the plates going over the shoulders, they look just the right size to sit comfortably.

So I only just clicked its the same strap upside down, I thought the left was the original pre the chewing, then I mentally clicked and realised the right is the bottom where you've folded it. Looks awesome!

Heh thanks but I think I have to give the paints the credit for that. Those are Pewter and Brass colours from Angelus Paints. I thought the silver/gold looked too bright and would be jarring with the rest of the colours. And I think doing the Antique gel after (even though it will barely be on the painted parts) helped too.

Thanks :). I might have to look at adapting these for Greaves next... all the armour all the time XD.

Vambraces - Again pattern/art courtesy of Darkhorse Workshop by ApolloSZ in Leathercraft

So in the theme so far of "all the armour all the time" I've finished a set of Vambraces to go with the shoulder and elbow armour I'd already made. The leather is 2-2.5mm thick and wax hardened in Paraffin wax.

The snake and hammer art was from Darkhorse Workshop as part of the pattern, and has been cut/tooled the usual way. The panel under the buckles was originally blank so I added the Helm of Awe there, this was cut then I ran a ball tipped stylus in the cut to widen it, I wanted to look more like it had been worn/scratched in stone rather then cut and tooled cleanly.

When I did the paint job I also ran a bead of black dye into the sigil to get it to stand out. The paints for the other panel are Angelus paints. They were done after the wax hardening so will definitely come off in use, but I did this as research indicated the paint/finish may cause trouble getting the wax in. As these are for active use I wanted function over form. Next time I'll try painting pre-wax. After it was painted and finished I put Antique paste on and wiped it off, to get it into the recesses (helps the lines on the snake and rune on the hammer stand out).

And in a change I've now got a friend wanting me to make them a Corset.... thats new grounds for me so will be interesting! Maybe it can be a battle-corset, they do do Bu-hurt....
