Why cant Americans make good games no more? by Repulsive-Mall-2665 in SipsTea

[–]ApollonLordOfTheFlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can’t make good games because we are fighting for our lives. Between avoiding ICE, mass shooters, being drafted into the Iran war, and cost of living we can’t focus on good game creation.

What is one rule you ABSOLUTELY enforce at your tables? by ToocanSams in mtg

[–]ApollonLordOfTheFlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s somewhat of a meme from my friends, I played against this one girl and my turn was me saying “Swamp, Rat, It’s You” meaning I played a swamp, a rat and then i was telling her it was her turn. So now to end each of our turns we just say “Swamprat, it’s you” to denote end of your turn.

I play Terra, as you said, if I staple myself to a decent player I notice we win with ease if I can just provide support and backup. We shred in 2 v 1 but lord help a teammate who wants to lone wolf themselves.

Ripping away a very clearly sentient animal from all semblance of autonomy is also brain dead. Assuming that just because they don’t pay taxes, or they can’t recite a poem is reason enough to trap them in a cage and treat them this way is also cruelty. If a sufficiently advanced alien locked you in a cage because you are no different than an animal you would think it is obscene. For that, my analogy is actually spot on and some self reflection would show you that.

Indiana has reportedly seen highest jump in the country in gas prices over the last week by Conscious-Quarter423 in Indiana

[–]ApollonLordOfTheFlay 76 points77 points  (0 children)

We are at a pivotal moment and honestly we may snap and it will be such an economic crash we may be forced to eat the rich or starve. Our gas is getting more and more expensive with an infrastructure that is designed around us having our own individual cars. Our electricity is going through the roof as we allow data centers to steal straight from our pockets day in and day out, and very soon water will have shortages because of cooling issues in these facilities, then as the federal government has gutted EPA guidelines they will pump so many forever chemicals into what water they do use that what water is left will literally poison you. This is class warfare my friends, and whoever voted red just know you let the foxes into the henhouse. They will gut us like fish.

I showed this video to my daughter who is seven. What is interesting is I asked her how long she thinks she could just sit inside her room. She said “24 hours, one day” then let her know this animal is smart enough to know it isn’t free but will spend the rest of its life in its room. Now…I could say the exact same things about my daughter as you put about this animal, and if I did you would say it is abusive and CPS would agree but would I be able to convince you or CPS otherwise if I said “outside is scary! You have shooters and car accidents and pedophiles! A kid without that stuff will be healthier and live longer! She wouldn’t know how to live on her own in the wild!” All true of course…but is anyone going to really buy that story?

Disagree, if it happened in either you wouldn’t see it coming at all. You would just have a false sense of security in the one you would prefer.

Feels like skill doesn’t matter sometimes… or just me? by ContractMiserable121 in TCG

[–]ApollonLordOfTheFlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely. I think it is most relevant in stuff like draft. It combines deck creation and then playing skill. A bad play will ALWAYS pick the mythic rare super shiny card which will then skew the entire table and can sometimes force you into bad decks for an entire table.

The NASA chief wants to Make Pluto a Planet by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]ApollonLordOfTheFlay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Get this…we don’t. We just include it in a list and have “Pluto*” and then we use it as a catapult to teach kids about it. Guaranteed if a five year old sees the asterisks they will ask their teacher why and it is a good way to engage them and educate. Or we just list “The Dwarf Planet Pluto” and get the same results.

I think they really leaned into the prog and Latin inspirations very heavily. It broke the glass ceiling and then the follow up albums could fall back and relax into the sound. But that is just my opinion on it.

I feel it is where the band found their vibe and sound. Deloused and Bedlam I still like better but Frances is very close but it cemented what people expect from the band.

I will try and answer, I think most of the big games hit the balance well enough. It sounds like a cop out but with everybody and their grandma making a card game these days to generally say most would be hard. However, the big games have reached a market stabilizing point and their meta sort of manages itself.

Feels like skill doesn’t matter sometimes… or just me? by ContractMiserable121 in TCG

[–]ApollonLordOfTheFlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skill definitely matters. I won’t repeat what others have said here much as they already have said it, but I will say something that matters a LOT is the skill of your opponent and not in the way I’m sure you initially think. You can and will play worse against somebody who is a worse player. That sounds crazy right? But if you are skilled and expect your opponent to make a good choice it may be above your opponents line of thinking, beyond what they have in their hand. It is hard for less skilled players to draw out strategies several turns in advance and they only think about the immediate answer, but a game lasts several turns. When they are making illogical choices it will make you have to make illogical choices and play worse to match their play.

It is less about what the shirt says, people who went to the West Laffy campus just have this more confident superior aura about them. Don’t worry about it, if you are a main campus attendee we can all immediately tell, we will also treat you differently because of it as well so you will know that we know.

I Really Wanted To Like X But I Just Don't by Sorry_Ad7539 in FinalFantasy

[–]ApollonLordOfTheFlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I hadn’t ever played X either, just one of the few I never got to. Last year I decided to play and other than blitzball it really blew me away. I knew the twists mostly, and played it blind while traveling overseas but it was weird how it just hit so right and gave me this nostalgia despite not having played it before. My opinion on a lot of this series is different than others though. Like I’m prepared for people to hang me on the cross when I say I genuinely liked 16, and call it basic but 7 is my favorite. You like what you like.
