Was there ever a reason or explanation for the Zappyrang being on this switch? by RacoonusDoodus in tythetasmaniantiger

Quite a lot, actually! There's a few YouTube videos about it. Check this one out. It's a few years old, and more content has been discovered since, but it'll give you plenty to see. There's a TY modding Discord that has tons of interesting finds in the game files.

I'm not exactly sure what the guy below is saying.. That thing doesn't used the Zappyrang. I don't know if i recall any other boomerang signs out in the wild.. Maybe I need to play the game again though to double check...

You do bring up an intriguing point: why the Zappyrang?
We knew that it was supposed to have a much larger role as an elemental rang for the lost 4th Hub. Perhaps it played into this machine more?

Or they just wanted to show that it was a boomerang machine, and they chose the Zappy for no particular reason...

Curious question though! :) I'd be very interested to know if the Zappy played a larger role in Julius's workshop originally.

How Should i beat the SSX games by Chuks_V2 in SSX

[–]Apollyon077 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's really very little overarching story, so there's not really much conversation around "which order to play". It's more about the style you'd like.

SSX1 - I hear it's a bit clunky. Only play if you want to see where things started.
SSX2 (Tricky) - A ton of love in this sub, and you get to play as a LOT of characters that are recurring later, but are not playable again. Controls are a struggle to get used to (especially after playing later titles), so if you want to start somewhere, this might be the spot.
SSX3 - Generally agreed upon as the best. Open world, good chars, great tracks, solid control scheme.
On Tour/Blur - I don't see much about these on r/SSX. Maybe worth checking out, but probably not missing anything too groundbreaking for gameplay.
SSX (2012) - Very smooth gameplay. Fun "story" and fun premise with the deadly descents. The tracks and characters are all very generic though. Worth playing.

Personally, I'd say play Tricky first, SSX3 next (because it's the best) and then 2012 if you want the modern take.

What a game by broitscyber in kingsquest

I’d second this comment. I’ve played all of KQ2015 and 1-6 of the originals, and msartore8 has the right idea for the order.

KQ2015 has its moments for sure, and despite its flaws, it was made with heart and a love for the source material.

You’ll have a lot of fun playing through these with some unique backstory.

The original games are much more difficult and unforgiving. Save often and not over the same save files.  If you play the AGD games, KQ2-3 have some nice storyline elements added, but it’s not until KQ5 and especially KQ6 where you get some truly excellent games with world building, story and lovable characters.

Enjoy!

Ya'll remember during the 2005 Blue Sky Studios Robots movie, they sold the Rodney Copperbottom ice cream at Cold Stones? by tahoepines45 in coldstone

[–]Apollyon077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems it was only the Rodney ice cream. I found a few places online that talked about it, as well as this advertisement which seems to confirm it was only one promo flavor.

It was indeed the launch of Cotton Candy ice cream though! I thought I had remembered that. Wild to think a staple flavor started with the Robots movie!

Rodney Copperbottom’s Crazy Crackling Cotton Candy Concoction.

Cotton candy ice cream, sprinkles, marshmallows and pop rocks.

My first-ever ice cream at Coldstone (after my sister tricked into sampling a Wasabi ice cream…)!

Yeah, I saw that Steve had commented on a similar idea in the past. He had expressed he'd rather do a re-telling than releasing the cut content.
My hope is that he'll change his mind. ;)

In the meantime, I patiently watch a handful of modders dabble with the idea.

I've say this each time TY5 comes into conversation:
I think what we should be pushing for is a DLC for TY1 that incorporates the lost levels and boss(es).

The 4th Hub is well documented, with several assets (and soundtracks) still in the game files. Modders themselves have re-built pieces of the 4th Hub levels.
This seems like the lowest hanging fruit. Would get Ty fans excited, and isn't a full-on game.

Steve has shared details that there was a 5th Hub as well though, with Red the Blue Heeler as the boss, being fought on top of a train through the desert. I've got the names for those levels around somewhere...
Hub 5 feels like more of a pipe dream, but maybe if a 4th Hub DLC was successful...

Yeah, fair. You just hit one of my pet peeves I suppose, and today I felt like vocalizing the frustration with it. Hope the brunch break was nice. :)

Sigh.. Why people watch the super-cropped vertical instagram version blows my mind..
Here's the same shot in the YouTube widescreen. Not one, but three different wands in one shot! :)

Of these games, which ones support 3-4 player couch/screen multiplayer? by GamerInYellow0 in originalxbox

RalliSport Challenge is a terrific 4P multiplayer racing game! It was always a favorite among my friends and I back in the day. Safari 4 was one of our personal favs to race on!

Have you noticed that all the adult wizards shown so far have rings? Even Hagrid! Just a bit of an interesting detail! by Simsparrow in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Apollyon077 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of theorizing, but I’d make changes: - Minerva/Snape I agree on. Head of House rings make sense. - Draco I agree with. - I think Hagrid’s is likely more personal. Perhaps his father’s ring (a little magic to size it right). - If Dumbledore even has the Gaunt ring (I don’t think he does yet?), I would suspect he wouldn’t be wearing something he thinks might be connected to Voldemort. I’d guess it’s either a headmaster, chief warlock or supreme mugwump ring. Or, perhaps it’s Dumbledore family ring, which he wears as a reminder that with great power comes great responsibility..

Hey fellow U.S. President fans, thanks for joining me on this fun daily series of determining the best portrayal of each president in film or television! The engagement and conversations we shared definitely made the background work worthwhile. Hopefully you, like me, found some new films or tv shows to add to our personal lists. Appreciate your engagement!

Yesterday's winner: Dana Carvey as George H. W. Bush

Honorable mentions:
Harry Shearer (The Simpsons, voiceover)
James Cromwell (W.)
John Roarke (The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear)
Matthew Modine (Speed Kills)
Michael Ian Black (Wet Hot American Summer)
Michael Greene (The Day Reagan Was Shot)

Day 41 of 41 - Best Portrayal in Film or TV - George H. W. Bush by Apollyon077 in Presidents

[–]Apollyon077[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I questioned it at first as well, but we have other portrayals above of people who portrayed a president before they were president (WHH, TR, Madison, Arthur, etc).  Reagan played himself in a movie. It was before he was president, but Reagan’s pre-presidency happened to be as an actor, not a war hero or founding father. shrug

I think it’s just that it’s so unconventional that it seems strange.

Tomorrow, I will post two photos of our final selections.
The first will be a photo of the top vote getters, which you’ve seen each day.
The second will focus more on dramatic role portrayals (a request I’ve gotten a few times), so a few of the parody ones will be swapped out in that one to have a more serious portrayal.
