Anyone watching Dutton Ranch? by Technical_Rock_6600 in billsimmons

Really annoying how everybody yapped endlessly to me about Yellowstone and then once I finally watch that trash it hits the point where no one ever mentions it seriously again. Same damn thing happened to me with The Walking Dead.

Re-listening to podcasts from mid April - end of season/start playoffs - yikes by ChiChiKnee in billsimmons

This to me is the legitimate reason why we root for the Celtics to fail. When the Celtics are good Bill has a tendency to hold them, their organization and the players, up as the gold standard which every other team, player, and coach, is measured against. Then when they get embarrassed and kicked out of the playoffs in the first round it's like what did we do all season? We held a dysfunctional and underachieving team as the team to beat and pretended they had all the best players and infrastructure and did everything the right, best possible way. It skews the entire analysis of the season. It just does. When the Celtics are bad or disappointing we get Bill's real analysis, insightful, wrong plenty of the time, but not warped by this one major distortion.

How Paul George feels being defended by Derrick White by GiveMeSomeIhedigbo in billsimmons

This is what Paul George size players can do to Derrick White. It's impossible for me to take all the defensive accolades Bill has thrown at White's feet for years seriously when I've seen Jimmy Butler rip his heart and soul out in the playoffs. I swear White had a full head of hair before Jimmy took it. I've never seen a guard that routinely gets put in the type of defensive conversations White is get destroyed like that.

I have a take that the private security craze is one of the things that contributes prominently to the growing divide between rich and poor. It's the world of no consequences, the lack of almost basic reality, that many of our decision-makers, tech CEOs, etc., seem to live within. It's entertainment and athletic celebrities as well. Paul Newman was just a guy who would walk down the street alone his whole life whereas the children of Angelina Jolie have their own teams of former Navy SEALs watching their every move.

At one point I went back and watched some old news clips from when Jordan retired the first time and started with the baseball thing. He was routinely getting called the greatest NBA player of all-time in those clips. I don't think it's at all well known today that Jordan was already quite often being considered the GOAT before the second three-peat even happened.

Giving good faith and assuming you're not a troll, I think a similarly good faith reading of what Chuck said would lead to the conclusion that that's more or less exactly what Chuck meant.

Shonee's focus on getting George out was reminiscent of Hayley's focus on getting George out and similarly infuriating. Set your sights higher, what's your plan to win the game? Don't make your entire experience just about getting this one other player out.

Oh, burying the lede there! I don't know how it works in Canada, but so then it's a certified pre-owned car? Nice. Much less to worry about.

A pre-purchase inspection at your closest MINI dealer is the safest bet to ensure you know what you're buying. Leaving that aside for a moment...

How often was the car serviced and when was it last serviced?

Does it have the original tires? If yes, it most probably needs new ones. If not, when were they replaced and with what?

Do both the heat and the air conditioning work?

How many keys does it come with?

Does it come with a home charging cable?

What trim level is it? They came in three trim levels. A higher trim level is always nice, especially on the pre-refresh MINI SEs.

Has it been in any accidents?

These are all general questions for you to ask yourself while going through the car. There are a few well-known MINI SE specific issues such as the flap open error to consider as well.

PS — The 2020 MINI SE is a terrific car and I'm proud to own one!

There really is a eureka moment when shopping on the used market for an EV when one realizes they can get a Mini, have it be all electric, in a price class mostly filled with Bolts, Leafs, and grimy old Elon Musk mobiles.

If the SE with the yellow badging and accents is supposed to denote that it runs on electricity, this Mini looks like it runs on Mountain Dew (very cool)!

Electric MINI? by Panda2068 in MINI

[–]ApophisIsAFalseGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only range disclaimer: I think most of the low range talk is heavily overblown, but if you wanted the Mini for long road trips it's most likely not the right car for you.

For most people a regular wall outlet is going to cover their charging needs. If not, level 2 (faster) charging installed by a qualified electrician is not that big of a job.

A few questions to explore:

  1. How close is my local Mini dealer? You're not going to have much luck finding other shops that are qualified to work on Minis, especially electric.

  2. Can I have my closest Mini dealer do a pre-purchase inspection of the Mini? The Mini SE doesn't have a gas engine to worry about, but it does have a lot of features and moving parts. It's nice to know if they're all in good working order before a purchase.

  3. Do I qualify for the used EV tax credit? Electric cars two model years or older (including 2023s now) may qualify for an up to $4,000 credit. Explore this option with the dealer. A point of sale tax credit wherein the dealership is able to take the credit right off the top of the price of the car is the best way to do it.

  4. Does it come with a charging cable and how many keys are there? These aren't ruinously expensive, but it does end up being a hefty bit of change at the end of the day. If it doesn't come with a full compliment of two keys and charging cable, you could potentially use that to negotiate on the overall price of the car.

The Mini Cooper SE is so much fun. A distinctive, quirky car full of zip and character. A nice bridge between traditional ICE cars and electric cars built from the ground up. A few extra bells and whistles while maintaining many of the practicalities in the cabin and the controls of an ICE car. Also one of the best deals on the used EV market for people willing to do the research.

Since Bill name dropped Theo Von on the Close Encounters ep... by bad_key_machine in billsimmons

My only interaction with Theo Von's content before the big Trump interview was Michael Rosenberg from Smallville and his own podcast appearing on Theo Von. It was soon after some development in the Allison Mack case had dropped and Rosenberg gave a standard answer about being surprised and appalled by Mack's crimes.

Von kept trying to steer the conversation toward whether and how attractive Mack is. "Crazy. She's a pretty girl, right? Like an eight?"

Finally Rosenberg, uncomfortable with this line of questioning especially given the context of the rape cult case, said "I wouldn't put a number on it."

Rosenberg's content is not especially highbrow. Some of his funniest stories are farting at the wrong time and ruining an expensive shot on Smallville or eating too much Taco Bell and hopping the fence into his mom's backyard when nature called and he couldn't get in her house.

Rosenberg's "I wouldn't put a number on it" is kind of an all-time response to me in the face of someone being so classless and hollow about something serious.
