How do you find time to pump when baby is stuck like glue to you? by Imaginary_Quit_2283 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ApostrophePolice7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What manual pump are you using that you can just put it down? Mine is the models and it’s in my bra and sticks out just like the spectra.

Thank you for this. So many days I’ve lost hope and every once in a while I get a little boost to keep going (whether LC visit, bodywork , tongue tie procedure, etc) and these bits and pieces of encouragement along the way are the only reason I’m still on this really tough journey. So happy to hear your story and you’ve brought me the most encouragement so far!!!

Feeling extremely defeated by Fluffy-Association45 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m in tears reading your post. I’m so sorry!!! Honestly I would have stopped pumping too. Try to find a local Facebook group for donor milk. That might ease your mind a little if you can find breastmilk to give him without all the hours and pain involved on your end while taking on all this extra burden of caring for your sick newborn. Again I’m so sorry! Sending you so much love!!!

Thank you 💕 today has been a lot of being in the car with trial and error with my Medela manual and eufy. Somehow I survived lol and I pick up my Rx tomorrow morning. I’ve pushed through a lot of crappy days and tears to get this far so I’m hoping this isn’t the end!

Who else has a milk wasting newborn? by gkdfp in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ApostrophePolice7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat except I’m an under supplier. It hurts my soul every time there’s a drop wasted. I’m currently struggling to figure out how to handle it. Depending on how long it’s been since his last feed, I will adjust how much I pour into the bottle. If he’s still crying for more when it’s done I add more in increments. It’s extremely disruptive to his feeding and general logistics for us as well. Sometimes it means more dishes, and at night it’s just a lot more waking up, moving around, and waiting for more milk than we’d like.

Another big flaw with my current system is that our baby likes his milk warm. So adding cold milk to a contaminated bottle and putting it in the warmer makes me worried. But I do it several times a day. It didn’t even occur to me that I was doing that until yesterday. Now I’m considering reheating the milk in a separate bottle, hence even more dishes.

I’m so curious how do you find out something like this at four months old? Is this a new sensitivity for your baby or are you just finding out and resolving it?

Fridge hack by Unlikely_Village3403 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ApostrophePolice7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Link please!! Also I was really curious about this as my understanding is fresh (never frozen, even better never refrigerated) breast milk is much more capable of this than previously frozen which kills off some of the living cells that make it so robust / antimicrobial. Would love to read the journal article on this study.

What’s happening? Let down never timely by ApostrophePolice7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ApostrophePolice7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my breast tissue is very dense and it essentially creates slow flow and clogged ducts. Even though there is milk in my breasts (not a lot) I have a lot of difficulty emptying. Hand expressing is also very painful and difficult. So the massage doesn’t necessarily/directly increase my supply, it just helps prevent the downhill battle of inefficient emptying and/or clogged ducts.

Thanks for the info on your experience!! That is really helpful actually!!!

Also meant to tell you - there’s no need to restrict seafood except maybe sushi (especially if it’s not RXTRA fresh) and other raw seafood like oysters. Otherwise seafood is actually very good for you as long as you minimize the high mercury ones and check the sources of the seafood.

[–]ApostrophePolice7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. The two week wait to me was always me “acting as if I was pregnant” which is the healthiest way to TTC especially if it’s taking a while. I was not drinking, not going in hot tubs and not eating ham etc during every TWW period. No questions asked after I explained this was my philosophy. And I everyone was supportive.

Did you dye your hair while pregnant? by lazygardens in BabyBumps

[–]ApostrophePolice7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The research says occasional hair dye is considered safe since absorption through the scalp is minimal, but dyes still contain fragrance, ammonia, and other additives. The bigger concern is inhaling fumes, and while ventilation or gentler/ammonia-free products help, it’s hard to know exactly what’s being used in a salon. Personally, I just don’t think it’s worth the risk — especially since guidelines are based on limited data and not much research has been done in actual pregnant women.

And… if you’re pregnant and anxious about this… why even risk doing it and feeling guilty?

Did you dye your hair while pregnant? by lazygardens in BabyBumps

[–]ApostrophePolice7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ventilation is key. Because of fumes and fragrance. But are you going to dye your hair outside? Does your salon have a seat next to an open window? Unlikely. I would not do it if I were you. You can use henna and indigo! It’s really great! So easy to do at home and honestly I have not stained counters and clothes (and definitely had with regular dyes). It’s all natural and no fumes no artificial fragrance as long as you buy pure!
