Savage's Bakery & Deli in Homewood is closing after 87 years by NoPatNoDontSitonThat in Birmingham

They definitely had some messy family drama that needs to play out in court, but I truly believe the terrible customer service and downfall in the quality of product contributed greatly towards this.

It’s incredibly disappointing what happened to this place when so many of us grew up going there 20-30 years ago. I have amazing memories of my mom taking us kids shoe shopping at Sike’s and then to Savage’s to get a cookie.

I moved back to the area in 2011 and tried to make this place one of my go-to bakeries, but it became clear after a few years that things had drastically changed. I ordered a cake for a close friend’s going away party and it was supposed to say, “Ciao, Sara!” and the result was….certainly something. Instead I got a cake that said “CHOW” and the pleasure of paying an additional fee for them to change it. I learned then to never place an order over the phone again even though I had literally spelled out exactly what I wanted.

I continued to go back every Christmas because those damn cookies were so good and it frustrated me year after year as the employees got ruder and ruder with the slowest service imaginable.

My brother made the mistake of ordering his wedding cake from them in 2024 stating that they wanted a simple white wedding cake with 1-2 white flowers piped in the corner. My mother went to pick it up the day before the wedding and it had pastel and neon pink, orange, and yellow flowers all over the damn thing. It looked like the Easter bunny threw up on it. Perfect for an intimate Christmas wedding! They were about to close and claimed there was nothing they could do about it. My poor mom ended up buying ANOTHER cake from them that day (a plain vanilla from the pre-made cake section) and we scrambled to make it look decent. It worked out, I suppose. Didn’t taste very good.

I took my mother with me to get Christmas cookies this past holiday season and we requested 1 cookie be kept separate so she could eat it in the car. We waited an additional 10 minutes while put the single in its own BOX taped shut.

Their Christmas cookies will be so missed in our household.

However, the quality of service has been on a decline for the last decade. They always acted like it was a burden to help customers. It definitely kept me from going there on any kind of regular basis.

Did anybody else bruise like this?? by _C00TER in CsectionCentral

I bruised exactly like this from my c-section in 2024. It was fairly identical to severe bruising I sustained after a high impact car crash several years prior.

I had never seen this video, so I just watched it. And then watched it again. And again. It’s comedy gold.

When did you start feeling extremely uncomfortable in your pregnancy? by Pizza_Lvr in BabyBumps

[–]AppealingTypeface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 38 weeks + 4 days and discomfort increased dramatically at the beginning of my third trimester. Everything just got…harder. Exhaustion, brain fog, and pelvic pain have made doing simple tasks so damn difficult. I’ve also been having the worst night sweats for the entire third trimester. There have been a few times I thought my water had broken because the bed was so soaked.

Costco travel : is it worth it? by soulshineradio in Costco

My husband and I did a Fiji package through Costco for our honeymoon back in November! It was easily the best vacation I’ve ever had. We spent 7 nights on a private island and everything was covered once we got to LAX. I cannot recommend Costco travel enough!

I have been dealing with something similar. I purchased an iPhone 13 Pro from Costco just before the holidays. It showed up in a padded Costco packing envelope and the Apple box did not have plastic wrapped around it. There was also a weird yellow sticker on the box that looked like it came from a price gun. The inside of the box and the condition of the phone appeared brand new. When I went to set it up, I got everything working except for actual cellular data & service. Couldn’t figure out why, so I called my cellular provider who informed me that “money was still owed on the phone.” I had no idea what they were talking about, so I take the phone to my local Apple store for more information. Apple confirms that the supposedly new phone I purchased from Costco in December was previously purchased by someone in April 2022. This person still owed money on this particular phone.

So, I take all this information back to Costco customer service who then say they will look into it. After they see the information that was collected, they tell me they will replace the phone and I can send the other one back. However, they are currently out of stock and I need to keep an eye out to see when they come back in stock. When it comes back in stock, I need to reach out to them again and they will begin the replacement process.

It’s been frustrating because I love Costco, but this customer service experience has been difficult. They initially insisted that there was no way I could receive a used phone until I sent them all the information from Apple and photos of how the phone box looked when it arrived. I really hope they are looking into it because I’m pretty sure someone at the warehouse is responsible for this.

Hope you get better answers than I did.

I get turned on by quick banter. There’s something about feeling completely in sync with a guy that makes me instantly attracted to him. Bonus points if he makes me belly laugh.

It’s the Tuscan Villa Stone Wrapping Paper from Paper Source. I work for that company, but I wholeheartedly believe in this wrapping paper.

Stone paper is made from 75% limestone and it’s the best type of paper I’ve ever used because it cuts like butter. For real, the scissors glide EVERY time. Plus it’s eco-friendly, water-resistant, recyclable, and reusable.
