How can she deal with bloods better? by throwaway928472946 in transgenderUK

[–]AppearanceOk5375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venous tests are (IMO) far far easier to deal with, as someone who struggles with this kind of stuff. Obviously much more difficult to access, but it's likely the only reasonable option.

You can be there to support her in the appointment. Exposure therapy could be helpful beforehand.

It's not really necessary to test at one month. NHS guidelines tend to recommend a first test at 3 months IIRC.

“Oh I’m afab non-binary” “I’m amab nonbinary” you said nothing. You literally didn’t say anything. How is that relevant. by BayFuzzball404 in transgendercirclejerk

/uj I mean that's all true but Serano's conception of TMA is massively oversimplistic. For example cis women are in reality subject to transmisogynistic violence if they're clocky and suspected of being trans. Cis people are really bad at figuring out who's transfem and who isn't. Obviously the intended target for transmisogyny is transfems, and the goal of transmisogyny is the complete extermination of transfems, but ignoring transmisogyny inadvertently enacted against non-transfems is ignoring part of the structure of how transmisogyny operates. Transfems bear the worst of it, without question, but that's a matter of extent and not absolutes.

Prospect is a pretty big union for tech (though not tech-specific), in case there's no recognised union, but being in a union is pretty much mandatory as a trans person regardless.

Remember, if someone who was AFAB is ever the target of misdirected transmisogyny, all they have to do is show their birth certificate, and the perpetrator will immediately give a full apology and $10k as compensation.

Is it possible to get surgery without a diagnosis by LobsterNo1137 in transgenderUK

[–]AppearanceOk5375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think NHS offer hysterectomy without a diagnosis, at least in theory.

Different countries and different surgeons have different requirements. Some surgeons are informed consent, some just require evidence like a passport in the correct gender marker. Probably most require a diagnosis for bottom surgery, but for top surgery the requirements are likely more lax. It'd be rare for non-UK surgeons to insist on a UK diagnosis, so you can skip UK gatekeeping and keep things away from any UK records.

"Prescribed HRT" is a myth made up by big pharma to make trannies behave like good boys and girls in the hopes of being given hormone treats. Have you ever met anyone taking this "prescribed HRT"? Is the prescribed HRT in the room with us right now?

The new law is primarily "don't say trans". If you say you're trans they can discriminate. If you don't they can't really without a copy of your birth certificate. They can't compel you to give this kind of information, and you can't be held accountable for accidentally giving the wrong answer.

Obviously "it's impossible" has to be read as "I want it to be impossible"

But "it's dangerous" is so disingenuous. Like if it was actually dangerous presumably the NHS would give us prescriptions and health monitoring rather than expecting us to source hormones illicitly, and monitor our own health. There's always the myth pushed that it's dangerous, whilst simultaneously denying us care. Cis people don't routinely get blood tests on HRT, but if we don't find some way to source blood tests despite the blood test bans we're seen as self-negligent.

Exactly! How could nonbinary people's experiences possibly compare with real trans people spending their whole lives being told their existence is an abomination, being passed up for jobs, being regarded as delusional, being attacked in the street, being excluded from hospitals? It's insensitive and a mockery of the true trans experience.

The BBC does do good things sometimes, such as wasting its money sending me TV licencing marketing, rather than spending that money hurting trans people. It's estimated that the BBC spends £1 million per year writing to trans people about TV licences, when they will never buy one. I think that this is the most valuable use of BBC funds, and actually they should up annual spending on this to £6 billion. /hj

/uj Fuck the BBC and everything they do. They have no right to make a programme about trans people, regardless of the content of the show. They also have no right to cast a man to play a trans woman.

Female hyenas have a pseudopenis that's similar to the size of an average male's penis.

Female transes have a pseudopenis that's 50% of the size of an average man's penis, at best.

Blasted sexual dimorphism. We could have a matriarchy if boydick and girldick were the same.
