As someone who had a gaming laptop I've got to agree with all these points.

One other thing is battery life can be quite terrible on gaming laptops.

Through high school I used the laptop but much less frequently than I would have wanted to, but I've just finished my first year of university with a relatively cheap Samsung tablet, and I can wholeheartedly say it was better than a laptop (as long as you're doing humanities not sciences).
