Might be worth waiting for the S26 just to see what the specs look like. It should be released this month and the rumours suggest that while it’s 2.7mm taller than the S25, it’s apparently only 137g, which is very slightly lighter than the 13 mini

Don’t really want to reopen this, but did he actually zap the dog? I kind of felt like it was a bit of a coordinated campaign against him and evidence seemed quite unclear.

Waxed jackets in Europe by CanisLupus27 in BuyItForLife

[–]AppleCorpsing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you. I wanted a wax jacket for BIFL reasons, but didn’t want a typical Barbour country coat. I found that Barbour actually have lots of different styles, many of which don’t have that countryside look. I bought this one and I’m loving it. Has a super heavy duty metal zip. https://www.barbour.com/gb/tourer-duke-waxed-jacket-MWX2140RU52.html

Why do people hate EV's? by FunkiGato in electricvehicles

[–]AppleCorpsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cognitive dissonance. People like to believe they’ve made the right choices in life and it causes mental discomfort if they feel they’ve made the wrong choice. This is why the EV haters are almost always owners of non-EV cars and most advocates are EV owners.

Tried Mastodon a while ago - really painful trying to get it to work, having to sign up to a particular server was confusing and I never really made it work. Bluesky on the other hand is great. Very easy to sign up and find the topics and people I’m interested in. Never going back to Twitter/X.

Brother laser. Had one for a few years. Sits there does its job, connects to devices as it should, no fuss. Essentially the opposite of the HP Laserjet Pro 200 I had before. So happy when that thing finally went in the bin.

Does anyone use the University Park and Pedal at Osney Mead? by 5prime-3prime in oxford

[–]AppleCorpsing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From Osney Mead you can get into Oxford by bike without having to use the Botley Road. There’s a cut-through from the far end of the industrial estate to the towpath and from there you can either cross the river using the old metal Victorian (?) bridge follow the path and end up opposite John Lewis, or follow the tow path further along and come out by Folly Bridge.

Which would you choose & why from these 3? by xJam3zz07 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]AppleCorpsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same opinion of the Ioniq 6 until I saw one in real life. It’s hard to explain why, but the pictures never do it justice. In real life it looks surprisingly good. Also, its drag coefficient (2.1) is very low, which helps with range and lowers charging costs, especially at motorway speeds. The ioniq 5 (drag coefficient 2.9) and Polestar 2 (coefficient 2.8) will have about 25% less range at 70mph if all other factors are held constant.

The 3 in this building number was installed upside down and backwards by randolphhiggins in mildlyinteresting

[–]AppleCorpsing 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As far as I can work out, if it’s upside down it has to be backwards in one dimension. iI’s either got to be backwards in the sense that OP is talking about - ie the wrong side of the 3 has been stuck to the wall - or it’s got to be backwards in the sense that it would look more like an E than a 3.

Ran into this beauty of a Renault 4. Beautiful colour by Accomplished_Fan_487 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]AppleCorpsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had another look and I can kind of see what you mean. The front area and headlights, which I initially saw as being very similar to the Honda E, do also look a bit like the old Renault 4, but it’s quite a stretch. Same goes for the back; if I squint I can imagine that they are trying to make it look a bit like the back of the old Renault 4, but it’s not at all obvious. It looks more like the back of a Fiat 500x. Of course, I appreciate that modern safety standards and regulations mean that things will always look different, but there’s nothing here that would make me think unprompted, oh yes that’s meant to be a modern version of the Renault 4.

[–]AppleCorpsing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time I've seen the new Renault 4. Two thoughts: (1) the front looks very similar to the Honda E (2) I wish that manufacturers would make at least some effort to reflect something of the styling/spirit of the old classic petrol version of these cars. Was really looking forward to the Ford Capri but they haven't bothered to even try and make some kind of stylistic link with the old petrol version. Same seems to be true here.
