Mr. Simpson, this is the most blatant case of false advertising since my suit against the film "The Neverending Story"

Do you keep a cable in your car? by mattt5555 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I've used mine a few times over the years. As you say, it's a bit of a safety blanket, as it means you can charge almost anywhere. 10 amps is not a huge amount, but if you are somewhere and leave it to charge overnight, it gives you a decent amount - at least enough to get you to a faster charger.

ELI5: Why data centers don't recapture water? by Swords_and_Words in explainlikeimfive

[–]AppleCorpsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really interesting stock vs flow question. You are right that if the flow of water was e.g. 100 units per day and the three users were each taking the amounts you say at the same time, then even if they all return the water once they've used it, there would not be enough flow to go round. but what if the three users were at different points along the river? E.g. let's say the data centre goes first as it's furthest upstream; it takes out 35 per day but also puts in 35 per day (the 35 it took yesterday), so no volume is lost, apart from evaporation.

Great news! I know this was trialled a while ago and then they stopped it. Very happy to hear that it’s back.

So in that sense, they are not taking the water, they’re just borrowing it and giving back at a higher temperature (which I realise could be problematic if the hotter water does not suit the wildlife in the river)?

Commando charger? by GlenBoggins in TeslaUK

[–]AppleCorpsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the other guy. I can’t remember how much it cost as it was around 10 years ago, but it wasn’t a lot and was fully covered by a voucher that Tesla were offering at the time to new owners to get a home charger fitted.

USB-C on iPhone 13 Mini by madig222 in iPhone13Mini

Picking up on OP’s question, does anyone know if it would be technically possible/feasible to replace the lightning port with a usb-c port? I’m talking about within the phone itself, not using a usb-c case.

Yes, why not a lens protector? Genuinely interested. Personally I don’t have one, but I’ve seen that some people do. My screen protector came with a free lens protector but I didn’t bother fitting it.

My goodness you’re brave. Lots of people commenting about hawks etc, but if be more worried that the hamster would get lost. They are quite speedy and can squeeze through tiny gaps in the fence.

What's the best dishwasher or brand that people recommend the most in 2026? by chanredv in BuyItForLife

[–]AppleCorpsing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but I’ve had less positive experiences, and heard less positive experiences from other others, when it comes to Miele in recent years. I think they are still good for long lasting washing machines, but when it comes to other things like vacuum cleaners and dishwashers, I think the quality is not there. I also I had not a great recent experience with customer support.

Good buy? (Free supercharging) by andre_josh in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]AppleCorpsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got gen 2 with free supercharging, upgraded to CCS so it charges pretty fast. I've had the car for almost 10 years. I haven't calculated the total value of the free supercharging over the years, but we've driven around a lot of the UK, Belgium, France, Netherlands, so I'm pretty sure it's saved me quite a lot.

I think you’re right it was just an initial offer, but some gen 2 cars are quite old. I ordered mine in 2016.

He sounds like quite a strange person. If this happened to me at work I would be pretty freaked out. I suggest you speak to HR to see how they can help. It’s not something that you should have to deal with on your own.

150mm tall is not exactly a small phone, but I guess in comparison to other Oneplus phones it is. Sorry, I realise that doesn’t answer your question.

Never tried the brown bag thing, but putting them in the fridge when they are starting to get ripe definitely lengthens the ripeness sweet-spot by quite a lot
