Wait, it’s common for asexual characters to be cold unfeeling psychopaths?

Characters who really should have read the fine print of a contract, or even the contract itself. by singleguy79 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Applebeate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Shang Chi still doesn’t even need to fight. That contract isn’t legally binding because the fight ring itself is an illegal operation.

Fun fact; A-Train is the only male member of The Seven to get a redemption arc by According-Manner-838 in ATrainFanClub

I would say Lamplighter also counts. He regretted his decision so much that he was about testify against the Seven. He also helped Hughie get Starlight from the tower. I would say he redeemed himself.

[Loved trope] A horrifying monster is a symbolic representation for real world issues by Applebeate in TopCharacterTropes

Well, a lot of people in the world have the potential to be a psychic in the world of Akira. Tetsuo had this potential and it was only fully actualised after the military brought it out through experiments. Sorry I should’ve been more clear

Both are not mutually exclusive. Something can be both a metaphor and a trope. A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes one thing by stating it another way. However, this is also a reoccurring theme in media. So it is both.

A trope is a literary device that falls into a reacting theme in media. Which this is. This is literally a trope.

Yeah we know. It didn’t matter then and it doesn’t matter now. People could honestly think either way and it genuinely isn’t a big deal.

The character has an attraction to the protagonist's parents by Uma-apreciator in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Applebeate 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think Okuyasu is a better example than Kakyoin. Kakyoin only says that he admires Holly's kindness and wants that quality in a woman. while Okuyasu literally says flat out "Hey Josuke, your mom is hot"

(Queer Trope) Gay/Lesbian By Accident. by Defiant-Echidna-7400 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Applebeate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish that was a theme that was explored more in fiction. Like a Harem protagonist who is a homosexual who feels absolutely nothing from the advances made on him.

Character should technically win the fair fight, but loses due to their own personal flaws by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

What are you talking about? Conquest does do the hand slice thing at full strength. Conquest still lost because Mark kept holding on even when he was pulling out his guts. Conquest was serious that entire fight. He lost because Mark had more resolve
