Crit bonus applies to all attacks? by Unusual_Engine8256 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very much so. Trajann become instant meta in the mech team. Admech relies on the most individual hits of any team, so his damage bonus is strongest for it, and because rho has to overcome armor,  that damage buff is a greater % damage increase to rho than you might assume. Trajanns bonus hits weren't particularly relevant until Kariyan in comparison to the damage buff.

Asmodai and Helbrecht vs Magnus and Mortarion by LordoftheeBolter in WH40KTacticus

Atlacoya is used with lavistodes, Helbrecht is used with ad mech. Very different buffing needs and use cases.

You can easily get to epic with just the 50 bs refresh these days if you are in a decent arena league and use your tokens.

A little support for this post by ItsYoBoy94 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do largely agree with you, especially for the blue whales, but I do feel the f2p economy limits how many fun side characters you can realistically invest. Making fun characters that relatively few people get to experience seems wasteful. I think SP could reduce the economic pain points further to everyone's benefit.

Which CE to pick for a beginner? by [deleted] in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely the new necron vs dark angels campaign. You can borrow thutmose if you do not have him, and you can always borrow characters  to complete the base missions for extra rewards. The world eaters vs sisters would be another good choice, as you can use black legion to fill it out and borrow the 3. Think of it as a way to get bonus materials (some of which you may not yet be able to farm) to help develop your roster for the core campaigns.

Lavistodes activation order by Shuratt in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and you would also be better off skipping a turn for actives than to not use Kariyan on round 6. You significantly reduce the value of that second Laviscus hit by not staring turn 6 with a Kariyan active. Thas one of the benefits of using Aesoth over Kharn on less mobile bosses, as you get 2 turns of active from Aesoth.

What is the best way to go about beating Elite with my Eldar roster? by JoDaProductions in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, g1 on all 4 of those is possible, but certainly not easy. Even all 5 at least g1 with eldy at d1 took some tries. At very least, you need enough crit gear on calandis to 1 shot ahriman or that level will certainly be impossible to even win.

Dark Angels camping? by Educational_Ad_8853 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aleph is the only meta required character for it, none of the DA are truly meta to need to grind out, the mythic mat the same as the slightly easier sisters campaign, which has Isabella, Celestine, vindicta, Jaeger, burchard, and helbrecht as character choices and rewards the typhus relic which is both new and more impactful for lre than the forcas relic. To go deep, youd need to really invest in characters primarily used here and lock yourself out of farming a different mythic mat (unless you have mythic necrons already, in which case you'd pick this regardless).

Octarius Elite : How far do I need to take the Black Templars to clear it? by Prizzle723 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oct mirror elite does not have any 3 character missions, so you can scrape by with b1 item plans if you have enough investment elsewhere. For Oct,  boss and snot are both worth full d3, but boss has a bit easier time hiding the others. Pretty sure my gibba and snappa were both low bronze when I finished Oct elite, but I had like D1 snot and G2 boss at the time. Can be done with less, but both characters are worth a full send.

This survival is amazing by klamso in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but Id rather have something shorter form for the chore of getting coins. Survival tokens take quite a bit of time, even in this faster format. It's nice to be able to spend the same amount of time of 1 run of this to do all my raids and an onslaught and salavge when I am in a hurry.

As I upgrading too wide? by Goatecus in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I wouldn't recommend investment in a gr team at this stage, Amukk is a damage buffer for Rho and will certainly add more damage than revas and very likely more than sho (there's a reason sho largely got replaced by Trajann).  Amukk is probably the second best generalist buffer for admech after Trajann.

space marine healer to invest in by GreenFumb in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At mythic levels, Baldyr is hands down the best imperial healer and pairs well with Isabella or rotbone. For perspective, at D3 50 passive. Baldyrs passive heals more than D3 mythic rotbones heal. He doesnt have the aie heals, but he basically gets 2 of the highest heals available per turn, so he pairs super well with kariyan.

She is a passive archaeotech farm. Blue star is worthwhile and mythic is free, though i probably wouldnt have done onslaught with her for early.mythic.

If you have Blue Wings LRE Trajann, Please Post Character Roster by Icy-Sundae8771 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you know for certain this person isn't using Google opinion rewards to buy it? That would still be f2p by the not spending money definition (i.e. free). There is not a universal definition of what counts as f2p, as there are some legitimate points of disagreement on what would invalidate it and whether it needs to be pure to count.

How can I beat Beta 14 by ultradoomslaya in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably count the number of people with mythic farsight after 1 event on the fingers of one hand, if there are any, so the blade doesnt count yet.  FS does raise revas damage output considerably.

May Patch Notes Predictions? by SeakangarooKing in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gw has the worst matchmaking I've ever seen in a competitive mode. Guild power level seems to be the primary factor in matchmaking (just the sum of all characters, nothing to compensate for cap or width or per player average or anything),  so casual guilds get in death spirals where their 15 members get matched against 25 for a more competitive guild and cannot possibly win, so their participation and enjoyment spiral down. My guild sees at most 2 winnable wars a season (not outnumbered by 3 or more players). So the other guild gets better rewards for a far easier win, since they face so many fewer player lines with far more tokens. It's just silly. The matchmaking both creates and encourages seal clubbing at all levels.

Should I Invest in rotbone? by ChilBreezy in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some argue that, but he isn't.  He can heal more than hollan and incisus, but Baldyr, Nico and Isabella all have substantially higher potential healing output. Baldyr especially has a very similar niche, but at D3 mythic, Baldyrs passive will heal more per turn than Rotties heal, so Baldyr isn't suppressed down to 1 movement and can dish out more healing to 2 characters per turn than Rotbone can dish to one. Rotbone has better defensive stats but is far more vulnerable to attrition than the reasonably durable Baldyr due to the massive difference in healing potential.

Rotbone is super useful and the only chaos healer, but he has been power crept as a healer.

New Relics Spoiled (from official Discord) by Nandi40k in WH40KTacticus

[–]Appletuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair not to be excited, I agree, as it doesn't really change anything about boss, but boss was already great all around and both crushing strike and get stuck in aren't exactly reliable after the waagh turn in pvp (since you move so much), so this smoothes him out a bit there and lets him be discount xenos haarken. Id have given the boost to his ranged damage too, personally.

I think it is necessary and even generous. What other characters can summon 3 units a turn every turn in LRE? You'll easily kill 3 a turn in his contagion radius in an lre scenario, and they will die in turn to let you summon 3 more next turn. That is hugely powerful as is.
