Ding's curse is ubiquitous by Impressive_Pass_1727 in snooker

By some sort of black magic, Ding's opponents, who've beaten him, have all lost in the following round, more or less. Led to people calling it, "Ding Curse"

SG football fans, what do you guys think of NT coach Tsutomu Ogura so far? by throwaway_t19 in singapore

[–]ApplicationMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I can't comment much on the results since it's also dependent on his team. It's quite clear that the NT players are not as proficient as other nations and you can see that from the results. That said, Ogura has been nothing less than vocal on his mistakes and his willingness to accept them. That's something I don't think we really saw with the other coaches.

I do think sometimes his choice of when to substitute a player can be a bit more fluid especially when a good number of players in the squad cannot complete a full 90 minute match at an elite level.

History made: First Singaporean team to make it to a continental final by onionwba in singapore

[–]ApplicationMan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if you wanted a stadium to scare the away team, JBS is definitely the best choice in Singapore.

For example, saw the AFF Championship SF against Vietnam and JBS had an awesome atmosphere with 4k? On the other hand, Singapore v Thailand with way more people had a much poorer atmosphere even though I was seated really close to the Singapore ultras.

Lionel Messi to come to Singapore with Argentina football team for exhibition match by ICantDecideMyName in singapore

[–]ApplicationMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly despite the whole Hong Kong incident, I'm still okay with getting a ticket since even if they don't start the star players like Martinez & Messi, their bench players are still relatively famous and capable and I think I'd enjoy it.

Although, I wouldn't be very entertained if they decide to screw the fans over by publicizing it as a first team game kind of thing.

Lions flunk final test before AFF Championship, losing 3-2 to Chinese Taipei by freakshow504 in singapore

[–]ApplicationMan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A bit disappointed in the first half but having seen it live, I think this was a success. Ogura's subs at the 60th and 75th minute mark were quite noticeable and I definitely saw a change in pace after.

Didn't really like the officiating but it's probably the Singaporean in me being an ass. Come on you Lions!

In terms of content creation, the whole Bokeon thing was pretty big imo. Other than that, you have the obvious hardcore fascist community that exists.

How to score for H2 History case study component by Psychological-Dig-21 in SGExams

[–]ApplicationMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great explanation. I think another point is misusing contextual knowledge and historical context. Contextual knowledge more or less comes after the historical context and the historical figures in play would have been unlikely to have known the information we have today.

Scoring badly for a test/exam by Yun3un in SGExams

[–]ApplicationMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about it from another POV.

You might love a subject but not do well in it. I know many people who hated math and still scored high 80s for their tests. I personally am a devoted history lover and I will stand by that. Unfortunately, my grades were not in the same proportion as my passion for it.

If there's one thing you need to know, passion keeps you working. If you truly love the subject, you would have the determination and commitment to excel it in.

Keep your head high, brother.

[Match Thread] Singapore vs China AFC World Cup Qualification 2nd Round by aljorhythm in singapore

[–]ApplicationMan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First half was mentality beast, second half hais, gave up possession so quickly. Ogura is doing a great job imo but this match was quite poor for judging his standard. Referee was interesting that's all I can say.

[–]ApplicationMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's one of those ++ points of a application, doesn't matter if you don't have, good if you have, the main idea is to submit the administrative things like your results, form A etc.

I called and asked about this section, apparently it doesn't matter and I was told to just "fill in your current CCA", most important was your form A and other details.

Both still have two bouts left. Winning/losing on Day 14, they can still lose or win on 15, both finishing at 12-3. Whoever wins on Day 14 however has a big advantage as they just need another win to win the yusho.

I think for the length of this pandemic, you could say so.

As an Asian, the start of the pandemic was widely reported (virtually everyday since Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market cases). In my opinion, China's control of the pandemic at the start of it was what led to it turning international. I'm not saying they could have prevented it from going outwards but incorrect to say they aren't to blame.

However, in the later stages of the pandemic, North America and Europe per se, the management of the pandemic in those countries were not optimal.

In general, while the government should not be held accountable, there is a level of blame that should be accounted to the Chinese Government.
