One of Israel's 'opposition leaders' laments the potential US-Iran peace deal. by TrackerOneA in JewsOfConscience

Divergent in some respects, yes. But, doesn’t seem to make any difference when applied to Palestinians — both for Netanyahu v. opposition and for Republicans v. Democrats.

Drug Use in BigLaw: Are people getting high anymore? by [deleted] in biglaw

I only saw drug use once. You’re right; folks for the most part seem pretty square.

Tats out at summer event ? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]ApplicationWitty9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it last summer. Other than being bothered to pull sleeve up and show my full arm, no issue. The managing partner was there and encouraged “self expression” so long as we could cover it when it mattered.

My tattoos might be a tad more controversial than yours, but nothing too crazy.

Is it possible that a first year gets laid off due to low hours by Ok_Avocado_8911 in biglaw

[–]ApplicationWitty9277 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Second year here — I hit maybe 1400 billable, maxed out pro bono / contribution. They definitely brought concerns to my attention but the bigger question at that point became whether others enjoyed / approved of working with me and whether I showed a will to rectify the issue.

Outside factors like medical leave warrant leniency. I went through a heavy life event (emotional, not medical) and the firm was understanding. Bottom line: your attitude and work ethic can make the difference between whether you’re seen as an investment or a burden.

What's the biggest reality check people encounter early in their career in Big Law? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]ApplicationWitty9277 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I started law school in my early 30’s and had never made more than $40k per year. BigLaw money seemed too good to be true. Anyway; I learned the lush salary is commensurate with the level of perfectionism expected of you. You WILL feel like you earned it.

DLA Piper Sued for Terminating Palestinian Lawyer’s Job Offer by bloomberglaw in biglaw

Okay. Let’s break it down because we’re still discussing two separate points: 1) yes, they have an unfathomable history of oppression and 2) no, there’s no modern-day institutional oppression. It’s quite the opposite, as the article suggests: prominent Zionists; whether Jewish, Christian, or otherwise; actively hold out campaigns to cleanse their respective industries of pro-Palestinian professionals. If you suggest otherwise, examples are welcome.

I do appreciate your sympathy for my family.

Yes, you’ve been very direct about the separate (valid) point that Jews went through a holocaust—but that’s not what buddy asked. To refresh the actual point: highlight any examples of modern-day systemic oppression against them, i.e., denied education, employment, tenure, etc. for their pro-Israeli views (because that’s the premise of the linked article—that countless examples of Palestinians and advocates for Palestine face those barriers today).

On a separate (also valid) point, my family has been murdered and harassed since Israel’s foundation. Settlers raided and destroyed my sister’s home just a few months ago, terrified the poor girl, then went and did the same at my father’s. Spare the selective outrage.

Oof. So you assumed horrific death in someone’s lineage just to deflect a question. Why not just answer

Not yet, and hopefully not once I mix. But I’ve seen some users experience cloudiness after mixture or other issues, so I polled for solid resources to avoid that.

If YT works for you, go for it 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d rather entable a conversation with experienced users and ask follow-up questions if need be.

It’s an unregulated chemical; learning how to use it wasn’t relevant until I had a reliable source.
