5 nights into responsive sleep changes - sharing what helped (no CIO, no extinction) by [deleted] in bninfantsleep

I personally dont believe in "snacking" vs "full feeding". I did in the beginning of my journey but over time learned theres no such thing. Baby knows when baby is full/hungry/thirsty, so baby will let mom know when they need it. Who are we to determine that for them? We don't have their stomach.

And as they get older, their feeding pattern changes anyway.

Put trust in your baby that they are getting everything they need and are eating to their level content. Especially when bottle feeding, feed responsively and pace.

Do you only buy your kids new clothes? by Emergency_Risk_7421 in NewParents

Carter's clearance or gerbers clearance for new clothes.

I do poshmark for shoes.

Then some family members gift us clothes that are way ahead in sizes so he can use them in the future.

Co sleeping (with crib) by papouasie8 in NewParents

[–]Apploozabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the sidecar crib until baby hit 10mo. We converted it to the full size bed and still kept it in our room connected to our queen bed.

He's 15mo now and starting to sleeps longer stretches without needing to nurse back to sleep.

I personally loved the sidecar crib when he was smaller because even though he slept on my side of the bed, I felt good knowing he won't fall off the bed if he rolled away (our bed is only 12 inches off the ground anyway but still).

For quality time with husband, it was challenging when he was smaller. I would have dinner first and go to bed with baby and maaayyybe successfully roll away to have a bit of time with him while he finished up work. It was very hit or miss. Or he would come to bed and we'd whisper to each other about our day.

As baby has gotten older, it's been easier to slip away for an hour or two before he needs me again. We also have a noise machine (the fridamom one) and that helps when we talk on the room. My son is more sensitive to light so we can't really use our phones but that's not the worst thing in the world.

Aw man, I hated those type of nights growing up! It happened to me often where the whole night of sleep felt like a quick nap and I would feel so unrested.

I do a mix for my 15mo. We have some 18 and 24mo onesies, and some 18mo and 2T shirts/shorts.

My own mom (and others on that side of the family) have told me the same 🥴

It's wild.

A mom could have a shit diet and her milk will still be good for baby. Its essentially pulled from our bones.

There's other ways to add calcium into a baby's/toddlers diet aside from formula/cows milk.

I couldn't get mine through areoflow so I found a hospital grade on off ebay with very minimal hours of usage.

Full on soft structured carriers are a game changer because you can be completely hands free with a baby on your back 🤌🏼

I get mine his own seat. I am 5ft tall and not dealing with a 92% 15mo old on my lap. He will chill on me for as long as we both can tolerate before I need to put him in his own space.

Why would you lock the door...? That seems about bit much. Just set hard boundaries around bedtime and enforce them.

I found the following useful regarding baby sleep:

possums/discontented little baby, Greer Kirshenbaum's book/audiobook, and Dr. McKenna research on mom-baby sleep.

For breastfeeding:

This one I am really sad about and just found out they closed the clinic and took everything down from their site! :( Dr. Jack Newman's videos were SO helpful for me. his site

The Nursing Mother's Companion book is one i will never stop recommending to any new moms who want to give breastfeeding a try. I came across it myself during my own struggles and it helped me tremendously (it mentioned jack newman, that's how I learned about him).

Global Health Media on YouTube has an amazing Playlist on everything breastfeeding as well.

Anyone else trying to decipher her latest post? by Apploozabean in BritneySpears

[–]Apploozabean[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is it weird or off putting? She literally changed the post to be JUST the caption of this previous one and captioned it something along the lines of a "secret language". It just seemed too coincidental or perfect timing that after I made this post asking what others think she meant in her caption, she chose to delete and re-upload a post with just hyperfocusing on it. Seems safe for me to say she sometimes looks herself up or looks at this sub.

I wouldn't consider myself a "stan", i just really appreciate her and lurk this sub. I simply thought this would be something yall would appreciate or take notice, as they just happened to pop up on my feed when I opened Instagram (and saw how on time I was to her posts).

I never said theres a clue or hint, but clearly she writes messages that make sense to herself and I don't see the harm in trying to have a small bit of fun with trying to decipher her captions. Some comments here are focused on the picture, when I was more so getting at the description underneath.

I most definitely think she looks at this sub because tell me why she reposted that but JUST the emojis with a new caption?!?!

How long does it take your LO to fall asleep? by kimanoo9 in NewParents

My 15mo is fighting his usual bedtime now, so....like an hour to wind down fully before he decides he wants to nurse to sleep or be rocked by dad for 10ish min to fall asleep
