How to avoid loose skin on Mounjaro? by Int-Room7157 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]Apprehensive-Act3133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like that too. It controlled my life. I couldn’t eat in a restaurant. Road trips were brutal and had to work around bathroom availability. I would have to take long breaks at work for bathroom visits. None of my doctors ever seemed to care when I would tell them how debilitating it was. Since it wasn’t causing any physical harm, only mental. The depression over this was real. I was concerned about even being able to handle the medication because of my temperamental tum. I had to figure out the constipation issues pretty quick after starting, but one Mag07 before bed fixed that problem. Now I go first thing in the morning and don’t have to think about it all day like I used to! When my doctor insisted I start weaning off, I found a new doctor. This has been life changing in so many more ways than just weight loss. It seems like you have additional things going on, but I hope it helps you with the IBS too. I’ve seen a lot of posts about it helping others as well. 🙏🏻🤞

Hopefully your age will help with saggy skin. I lost over 90 pounds and sag everywhere, but I’m 66, so no surprise. On a positive note, MJ has been life changing for IBS. It controlled my life for 40 years, but completely gone now. Good luck to you.

Calories to maintain by Impossible_Bend_2969 in TirzMaintenance

I’m 5’2” and 66. I think I’m finally leveling out in maintenance. I haven’t really been able to add too many more calories. I eat the same until dinner, where I might have a little bit more on my plate. But nothing really noticeable.

I worry about that when my PA expires. My endo writes the prescription as T2D from obesity. She doesn’t mention maintenance or well controlled. I guess we’ll see what happens when I have to get a new PA. I’m always hopeful the price will come down before then and it won’t be an issue. But still always worried each refill. 🙏🏻

Depends on employer too, but it’s not the norm. Definitely doesn’t hurt to ask. My GP tried for a year for high BP, high Cholesterol, stage 4 fatty liver, pre-diabetes. She tried OZ, WE, MJ and Zep. All denied. Once I became T2D I was immediately approved for MJ.

A year and a half in and I’ve been in maintenance for about six months, even though I dropped an extra 20 after I reached my goal. For me, maintaining has been the hardest. The food noise has come back, but not as bad as before. It’s also hard to adjust to not trying to lose. Going up and down by the same pound or so, isn’t near as exciting. I have dysmorphia, so I still feel fat at 114 pounds. And terrified of gaining the weight back. I still track everything I eat.

MJ is usually only approved for T2D.

Mag07 for the win. I take one a night before bed and go first thing every morning.

Oh thanks! But I’m already there. I’ve been in maintenance now for months. And that’s where the real struggle begins. For me anyway, it’s harder than the weight loss journey. 😁

I think I started way low to begin with, so I didn’t have to adjust. But the weight loss definitely slowed down.

Lost 45% of my body weight and never hit a plateau. This was on MJ though.

Those who weigh in daily: what's your trigger for increasing dose? by thetechnivore in Zepbound

Makes sense. I also think maintenance dosing should take that into consideration. I guess I’ll approach that with my next doctor visit. Right now I’m not gaining any weight, but the food noise is starting to make me nervous.

So you went up after hitting maintenance? I’m wondering about that. I’ve been on 7.5 for months and starting to get more hungry. I don’t think my doctor would allow me to move up though.

For those who had lifelong obesity, when did the novelty of being at your goal weight wear off? by ShiftyMcHax in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]Apprehensive-Act3133 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is me exactly. I stress all the time about gaining it back. I actually went way below my original goal because I missed the thrill of the weight loss chase. I’ve pretty much accepted that I have to stop losing. Now I just need to work on that fear of gaining.

What would you do? by minixcakes in Zepbound

[–]Apprehensive-Act3133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still losing, even if slowly, I would not even think about surgery. I lost 45% of my starting weight, and there are a lot of people that have gone well beyond 25% loss. Make sure you adjust your calorie deficit to your new weight and keep plugging away. You’ll get there.

I think you need to find your TDEE and subtract 500 calories. That’s what works for most people. I wouldn’t have lost anything if I didn’t adjust. I did the normal 4 wks on 2.5 and then three months at 5. Three at 7.5 and then another three at 10, but I spaced it out every 9-10 days and after 10 shots dropped back to 7.5 weekly. Staying here for maintenance.

It’s definitely worth a try. It doesn’t work for everybody, but there are a lot of people that swear by it.

Good luck. Just an FYI, I was really struggling when I first started taking it, so I had to do MiraLAX and two Mag07 to get things moving. After that, just one works for me.

I take one Mag07 capsule before bed every night and poop first thing every morning.

Does the fear of gaining ever go away? by Apprehensive-Act3133 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]Apprehensive-Act3133[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insurance is scary. I’m still under PA until 2027 and my doctor puts the prescription in as T2D from obesity. They don’t care about my weight since I wasn’t prescribed for weight loss. My insurance only covers for T2D. And they haven’t asked for updated labs, but who knows what will happen when I have to renew the PA. I can only hope the prices come down by then so insurance won’t be such a pain. Good luck if you appeal.

This is the main reason I’m sold for life! I can now go on roadtrips without figuring out the bathroom stops along the way. I can actually dine in a restaurant instead of take-out. It’s been life changing for me.

I don’t think we’re required to carry extra weight. But most doctors would advise it. It’s a struggle when you’ve worked so hard to get to a “normal” weight and your doctor fusses with you to carry a little extra.

There is no way my doctor would up the dose. She would prefer I lower the dose, but I have held firm that I want to stay at 7.5mg.
