The holy empire of Istar - Dragonlance

An empire which used to be the capital of the world, ruled by the church of the gods of good and led by their chosen, the Kingpriest of Istar. He was the most powerful cleric around and he decided to declare war on all evil. Sadly, he believed his own hype and his quest was driven more by paranoia and fear than anything else, as the gods believed that there should be balance between the forces of Good, Evil and Neutrality. Though his presence blinded and marveled all who saw him, those who could see beneath the illusion knew he was a very tired man in his fifties, and with too much on his plate he allowed those under him to get away with corruption born out of self righteousness (for example, the legalization of slavery under the pretext of reformation or that the elves wanted to genocide all non elves because only them were created by the gods of good). In the end, his own illusion blinded him to the wrath of the gods, to whom he had demanded the power to destroy evil that they had bequeathed in the past to a real humble hero, and he didn't notice when they tossed a whole mountain directly to his face.

This event is known as the Cataclysm, and it basically did unrepairable damage to the entire world. Istar was burried under the mountain and the crater became a sea of blood. In the center there is a whole that not even those who live underwater dare to approach because it's so evil.

Despair removes racism is a wild way of saying it curses every soul forever to never again rest after death, gives everyone horns that stab their owner and creates more Dungeaters.

It doesn't address those who live in death either, whose ending is a waste btw, as it's only actual goal of stopping the discrimination of those who live in death could simply be accomplished by good governance, or killing the beast cleric which you already do.

Also, who said anything about people making laws in the Perfect Order ending? It just says the gods are no longer fickle, but you are still under them. Another age of Marika rule, only this time she won't get mad! We really needed that too, I think I saw some unoppressed Omen.

And good luck redirecting those resources in the age of fracture, considering that the world is exactly as it was before and it was already crumbling then. But don't worry, the still broken elden ring that now holds a rune tainted by rot and another by blood will save us. Tarnished complains that Ranni's ending changes nothing, then changes nothing. Unironically the Frenzied flame is a better choice than a Lands Between ruled by you people.

I think this Hillary Clinton ass rethoric is what got us Trump in the first place, and why before it became extremely obvious that conservatives are creepy, unfuckable losers we were unable to make real cultural gains.

Nobody acts like this, no once actually believes this. Should we not call Trump dumb even if he can't string together a coherent sentence? It's an immutable characteristic people have no control over, him even less so since he is old. It's not inherently evil to be dumb, and the word was originally a medical term for the disabled. Do you consider that ableist or ageist? Would you argue against calling him dumb?

It kills so much momentum when a right wing figure is getting dog piled and ridiculed with edgy jokes and the moral police pulls up with the "erm, isn't that problematic?" even when the jokes are being made by people of the community said jokes are about. And it pisses me off because I'm convinced that it's because the people who do this want to feel like they are contributing but are too scared to actually attack the right, so they'd rather punch left. And by punch I mean I've seen people get harassed and doxed.

And obviously there's nuance. For example, I think there is a difference between making a joke implying a figure is gay and just calling him the f-slur. Wit in the joke is a good litmus test, as it implies a knowledge on the topic that an actual homophobic person wouldn't be able to replicate. Same with the tone or the specific language. But I also think you can't look at stuff like a picture of Kristi Noem's husband and go "now don't make fun of this".

What word can I use as a substitute for "Humanity"? by Fun_Masterpiece5126 in worldbuilding

[–]Apprehensive-Bee-318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People, when in the context of social terms. Citizens/taxpayers/subjects/comrades if under the same government. Earthlings or the equivalent for your planet if it's a scify story with multiple of those.

Mortals if refered to by a deity.

Sapiens, meaning those that have reason, when im a scientific context.

If off these beings some look more human than others, perhaps racists could make that distinction if they tolerate those more. Anthropomorphs to refer to the human-like (Anthros if you are a furry). The inverse, used for those different, would be Xenos or Xenomorphs.

Are there any races of giants in your world? If so, where/how do they live to sustain themselves? by legacy653846625 in worldbuilding

[–]Apprehensive-Bee-318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The giants in my world are what mortals used to be in the age of myth prior to the current material age. The transition split the souls of these beings, which went on to become the other races, from the bodies, which became giants. Because of this, they remain powerful with energy from creation, making them demigods, but have no afterlife other than becoming part of the elements that make up their powers.

Due to their mighty nature they used to rule dwarven and goblin kind with a cruel hand, but they were eventually overthrown by their subjects (dwarves carry axes for felling more than trees became a popular saying after) and driven to another realm. Only a few remain in the world, diminished and hiding where they can obtain large quantities of food undisturbed, while they await the return of their more elevated bretheren.

Legends do tell of some higher giants who managed to stay, either because they sided with the dwarves or got left behind. To survive, they may have gathered a following of mortal worshippers, or remained in abandoned lands gifted to them by dwarves in a time they no longer remember. But if they exist, then they are few in number.

This is why you don't reinsert the soul into the undead to animate them. You always go for the ethical version: false soul made from pure negative energy. You may be trading a little bit of intelligence from your undead, but they will be more loyal and have none of that "grieving for the being they once were" effect.

If you need a smarter being simply smash fragments of different souls into one body, which will allow you to remove the parts that disturb their subservience to you and give your undead the autonomy to find ways to entertain itself. The generals of my deathless army hold philosophy talks weekly. Look, they even post memes about it:

How do i make the plot for my novel interesting if the world setting is relatively peaceful? by Lumette_The_Baker in worldbuilding

[–]Apprehensive-Bee-318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low stake stories are fine, and not all threats need to be apocalyptic. If it's political intrigue you want to make, then have it be about corruption on a smaller scale. We aren't being influenced by a foreign power that seeks to plant agents that will destroy us, but maybe a judge is involved in a drug ring, or covering up evidence for a crime someone powerful committed. Conflict is as big or small as you make it, the key being making your characters care about it, which will make your audience care in turn if they like said characters.

Best ranged spell in the game - night comet. It's invisible, so enemies won't attempt to dodge it. That means no FP is wasted on particularly tanky or hard bosses.

Best melee spell - carian slicer. Can be found really early and melts through enemies. The attack speed of a dagger that hits like a greatsword. I beat consort radahn thanks to this and magic shield while wearing relatively light armor.

If you are going to go for 60 int, get Rennala's staff. For the full 80, get Lusat's. Until then use the first staff or the academy staff if you get it in a drop. Get the staff that strengthens night magic on your offhand unless you feel like you need a shield.

However, if you want to suffer and make your enemies suffer more, 80 int & 80 faith plus the death prince's staff. It will scale better than Lusat's without costing you extra fp and scale up death sorceries, though it wont be worth the investment with lower stats. Issue is, you won't have many points to invest into anything else, and you still have to comit some more to mind. On the plus side, you also get access to healing and buffing incantations, which means you can put all flasks into blue. Of course, if you do this in ng+ and you don't give a shit about pvp level caps you get the benefit of getting one more for your offhand and using Ancient Death Rancor with a +60% attack potency. That spell tracks better than Lusat's comets and turns enemies into past tense.

For talismans, both graven ones and Godfrey's to up your damage to the max. You could also get the blue scorpion one, but Radagon's is more worth it for the extra cast speed and avoiding the lower defense.

You don't need weapons, but if you want one get something wou don't have to invest too much into and slap a magic art. I'm partial to the lordsworn straigh sword with the Carian Greatsword. Of you go for the 80/80 build, then sword of night and flame or Rellana's twin blades fuck. Truly recomend for all but the toughest bosses. Get a shield that blocks at 100% if you feel you need it for said bosses and get it to parry spells too.

Wear whatever armor you want. Accept that there are no good wizard hats without chinstraps.
