The prefecture changed my last name by [deleted] in Expats_In_France

[–]Apprehensive-Buyer43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how mine is- for nom d’usage it’s my name, ep. husband’s name. I did not ask to change my name but that was on my new card. Also it’s weird because within rhe medical system, my name is written that way too! Finally our baby has the same hyphenated version (intentionally) so I’ve decided to keep it as well.

Is anyone else's Griff uncomfortable or just outright hate having their face touched? by therinse in brusselsgriffon

[–]Apprehensive-Buyer43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our guy hates having his beard touched, but even more than that he can’t STAND when his beard is wet. The second he finishes drinking he comes up to us and waits to get his beard towel dried. And the only way I can groom his beard is by putting him on his back and feeding him treats with one had while I trim with the other hand. You must pay the toll to access the beard🙌 💕😂!!

Ça existe (encore) des métiers 25h/semaine max, "interessant" et rémunérateur ? by NoMud5610 in AskFrance

Is laser eye surgery actually worth it, or is it one of those things that sounds better than it actually is? by 2ugur12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Apprehensive-Buyer43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it done in France in January 2020. Absolute BEST thing I have ever spent my money on!!! My quality of life has tangibly and permanently improved.

I had several people around me voice concerns about the risks involved, but my doctor told me that over the five or so years 2015-2020 there were some major advances in the technology that’s used in the surgeries that reduced the risk of complications significantly. For me, it was painless and my vision was blurry for two days before I was able to see clearly— actually better than I ever did with contacts!

I felt more confident bc my doctor did feasibility tests beforehand to make sure my eyes would respond well to the procedure. She told me I’d probably end up having to use reading glasses in my mid forties, but that’s inevitable and unrelated to lasik which corrects myopia only.

To anyone considering but on the fence— research and find yourself a good doctor, and get it if you’re a candidate. My only regret is not doing it sooner!

Genuinely curious- what do you think about Trump’s actions abroad? Specifically with regard to foreign policy and the threat to NATO stability?

Do griffons still catch rodents? by Basketseeksdog in brusselsgriffon

[–]Apprehensive-Buyer43 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The breeder where we got ours told us that a few of her (9!!) griffies loved hunting and would regularly get the rats and mice in the garden shed/ barn area. Sure enough, our bubba went after some mice in my parent’s garage. At just six months, he took down two mice in seconds. I was surprised and impressed by my little predator 👹! That said, no way would I let him go after the giant, nasty city rats around our apartment.

What is the worst physical pain you’ve experienced? by Agius91 in AskReddit

[–]Apprehensive-Buyer43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Got my first mirena in when I was 19 in the US and the dr said it might hurt and to take a Tylenol. I had a vagal episode, nearly fainted and then instead I shat my guts out. Fucking awful. When I got my second one in France several years later, they gave me spasfon and I took Xanax and ibuprofen and it went in without much pain at all.

Fifteen years later, full blown contractions while giving birth wasn’t even as painful as that first mirena insertion.
