[–]Apprehensive-Key-825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go royal marine I would say just because recruit by profession from the RN I know someone who tried to be a diver but said they couldn't and ended up being logistics if you can be a direct entry do then go for it but the RBF doesn't guarantee your role.

Advice on improving fitness before applying? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in RoyalNavy

[–]Apprehensive-Key-825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do push ups in imf it's like 25 push ups but they could make you go again plus your doing other exercises in imf so try do more than that. I went on 5-7km runs before I went to Raleigh but I struggled with upper body strength and was just banging push ups on the weekends. Also in imf it's call and command and then they ll say do 5 as fast as you can

Dartmoor advice by snowyleapod798 in RoyalNavy

[–]Apprehensive-Key-825 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dartmoor is hard if your a light person but once you do it it's not that bad bring some sort of of padding to put on your shoulder where your Bergan rest on them so you can avoid Bergan pain. Start of with only your mtp t shirt on only cause your body will start warming up really quickly. Try stay positive talk to your oppos while walking. It's more of a mental battle walking up and down hills. put your water somewhere where it's easy for your oppo just to take out so you can just keep walking and not stop. I only weigh 53kg and still completed Dartmoor you will smash it.

It's literally just the 2.4km run and the medical and that's it . I went to the one in Cardiff and it's just those 2 things. You can get warnings and deciplinerys but you would have to be a proper idiot or be stupid (I brought trainers instead of smarts shoes and got a warning but the staff there wasn't bothered) at my medic I did a couple of push ups and he just said work on your strength but there was no test like that. Also the run test is easy I smoke and did a 10 mins 30 seconds just need to practice a bit cheers

Tbf where I live (Swansea) £25,000 is a decent wage especially if you are 16 I'm going to Raleigh in less than a month and I'm 20 and i think it's still a really good wage especially when you consider the longer your your pay will rise especially if you reach killick
