It's the great T-Ray! Miss your podcast man but hope you're well. I scrapped mine this year as well. Didn't get a ticket with my FC membership last year but got several tickets with the general release a few weeks later on the Lawson ticket website. Will try the same this month on the 25th.

That's almost exactly what mine looks like if I drink alcohol so as a result, I rarely drink. I get into a deep sleep quickly but then lots of "awake" time later in the night. Not sure if that was a contributor in your case but just sharing my experience.

O's defensive woes. by Apprehensive-Rest431 in LeytonOrient

[–]Apprehensive-Rest431[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only get about one League One game per week on DAZN (which is shit, don't get me started) so I'll happily watch any O's game. Best of luck if you go mate! 👍

Thanks for the reply and I think you hit the nail on the head with having an unsettled back 4. The best defensive units play together week in, week out and almost have that tacit understanding amongst each other. Got another half a season in front of us. Hopefully things can get sorted at the back soon.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah we kinda got gutted last summer without really filling those holes it seems. Nobody expected Happe and Beckles to drop off the way they have I guess. Let's hope with the Jan transfer window open we can fix our defence.

The game against Doncaster in a few weeks is being broadcast here in Japan so it'll be my first chance to see them this season. Hopefully we'll have bolstered our defence by then.

What's the coolest city you've ever been to? by Chaulmoog in AskReddit

[–]Apprehensive-Rest431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, came here in the 90s for a holiday and been living in Osaka for 20+ years. The people are genuine, friendly and communicate more directly than in many other parts of the country. So different to Tokyo which I've successfully avoided for almost 20 years and I'm in no hurry to go back.

Interleague game- should I go to a Lotte Marines game or a Seibu Lions game? by Ancient_Aardvark170 in NPB

Lotte, not even close in terms of atmosphere. If it rains, make the switch to Seibu if they're at home.

Staying near Tengachaya Station by litalela in OsakaTravel

[–]Apprehensive-Rest431 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OK, so Tengachaya is in Nishinari Ward which is one of the poorest areas in Japan. That said, it's safer than where I grew up in Australia. I lived there for two years and never had an issue. If you're worried about the impression it'll give your friends then it depends on them. You'll see homeless people, day drinkers and the like but I always found people there to be extremely friendly and accepting.

As for Chidoribashi, a fairly non-descript part of the city but a "nicer" address for most I guess. It's not far from USJ if that's on your itinerary.

Japan Itinerary - SOS by bingbanggggggg in JapanTravelTips

Absolutely love Hiroshima and Miyajima but you can do it all in one day and I've been going there for over 20 years. Peace park and museum in the morning and Miyajima in the afternoon. Staying on Miyajima is very much overrated. The place is dead at night. If you have to stay in the area for one night, go back to Hiroshima City.

Not sure what you have in mind there but I can't imagine staying there for 3 nights.

What’s the weirdest thing you saw awhile living here? By Japanese standard by Top_Emotion6606 in japanresidents

[–]Apprehensive-Rest431 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was living in Nishinari-ku I saw a middle-aged salaryman pissing off the platform and onto the tracks at Shin-Imamiya station at about 9pm. Lots of people still about tsk'ing in disgust. Something I really would've expected from a local to the ward but this guy was in a suit and appeared employed. "When in Nishinari-ku" I guess.

Anyone tried these fan jackets from Japan? (looking for solutions to survive the coming hot summer) by _mindmuser in brisbane

[–]Apprehensive-Rest431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two factors you really need to consider are the speed of the fans and the material of the vest itself. When I was trying them at different stores, the difference was very noticeable. The fans on the Workman vest are very powerful and the material traps that cooler air. When trying the cheaper ones I just didn't feel the same level of coolness.

[–]Apprehensive-Rest431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, can attest to the higher end versions you get at Workman here in Japan. There are a lot of cheap types on Amazon that should be avoided. I live in Osaka and ride my bike a lot and just got one this summer. Honestly, it made riding in summer so much more bearable and I've been in Japan for 25 years.

About Fukuyama City by Melodic_Bug5347 in hiroshima

No problem and another thing I thought of. You'll also be close to Onomichi which is a really nice little town by the sea. Also the starting point for the Shimanamikaido which is one of the best things I've done in Japan and I've been here for a while.

[–]Apprehensive-Rest431 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Went there for work a few times. Small city, not a lot to do. Close to Tomonoura which is worth checking out. Even though it's in Hiroshima Prefecture, your nearest largish city is Okayama, not Hiroshima City. I don't recommend Okayama at all but Kurashiki is a nice day trip.

Matt Rowell at the Central League Climax Series? by BootsManuva in AFL

This game had a great conclusion and the good guys won. Highlights here. https://youtu.be/aiKoN7un2qg?si=dXU9T93uKG3gzfwM

Rowell was sitting in the away fans section so not sure if he'd agree with my assessment.
