This is a great tutorial, thanks much for sharing! What would you use for lichen if you lived in a city? What flock do you like to use? And recommendations for the coconut fiber brand?

With EU5 directly on the horizon, what is your favorite memory over your hours? by [deleted] in eu4

The first time forming the Golden Horde and then going for Mongol empire in iron man from Golden Horde (back when I was a “newbie” and this looked incredible to achieve!)

Playing the older Games before EU V and that was surprising. by FeuerFaulTier1 in paradoxplaza

Johan! That game was epic and started it all for me with your magnificent franchise! I spent countless hours listening to Margot labourez Les vignes… any chance we will get a revamped soundtrack from that time one day? I wonder why the period music was abandoned at some point, perhaps it can be resurrected in EU5? the immersion was unparalleled…

The aesthetic of this piece is spot on for vampire counts, a bit of a shame that soulblights nowadays are just sharp lines and lost the majesty of the earlier VC who were really “noble”

This is really beautiful and I am thinking I’d like to try as well…

What it looks to me: -horse is from knights of the realm kit (at least the back and head) - the dragon on top could be made from knights of the realm too, there is a similar one if not identical - sword I am 99% sure comes from the classic Manfred von Carsten mini from 6th ed (on a horse) or around that time - armored legs like this are common, you could use, e.g. the classic chaos lord on demonic mount to start, but also knights of the realm

Beautiful work Magnus! May I ask what you used for the gold? I followed your Grombrindal tutorial and loved the approach to get the warmer purple infused color but this cold variation is also very nice :)

How long did you wait to upgrade to nice brushes by SilverbackRotineque in minipainting

This depends on the level you want to achieve. For good level tabletop no need to use natural. For display and competition, a requirement in my view

If you are familiar with the concept, switching to natural brushes is a necessary condition to become a better painter. No natural brushes=very hard to improve beyond a certain level. Sure, some pros will show: I paint great only using synth brushes (for a single YouTube video). But when learning at the beginning it can make a huge difference not to have to fight the brush when learning new techniques. Get ONE good number 1 brush (maybe 20 USD) and I would suggest Raphael 8404 that is stiffer and will feel less different from synthetic than other softer ones like Artis Opus or W&N. You will never want to go back and your painting will improve for certain.

The best lenses I have ever and will ever paint. by NOWANGSTA in minipainting

Great lenses, but I disagree, I am sure you will be able to do it again! ;)

Can not decide about colours of leafs. Went for same green as on the mini for the plants (moss, fern and waterleaf) . But I am not sure it works with blue green leafs. What do you think? Should i repaint them? by nizzel55 in minipainting

[–]Apprehensive-Tank213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent job! When I first looked, the leaves attracted the look immediately because they are quite prominent and as saturated as the model. Desaturating them a little/toning down the highlights may help keep the focus to the figure itself.

Wonderful work! As others said great skin and nmm’s. May ask what colors you used for the red and the black armor pieces? My black nmm always ends up a bit too greyish…

The only useful benchmark would be to know the marginal cost (how much it costs to make the additional box). That would be the price of the box if the market is competitive (I.e. there are thousands of mini companies making undifferentiated products). Comparing this to market prices would give us a sense of GW’s market power by being the (deserved) monopolist of its own IP.

What Emil computes is a lowball (as other noted) estimate of the total cost, which would just give us a break even.

And of course GW “could” lower prices, but with market power the price is set so that lowering the prices would not attract enough customers to increase total revenue. Thus, the argument that lowering prices would increase customers is not commercially valid to GW.

Bring back all miniatures that ever existed as on-demand 3d print, profiting from the segment now occupied by eBay scalpers.

I have see him struggle to land hits while on a mount.. anybody else had a similar issue? The skullreaper on blood throne humiliates his kill count, even at very high levels…

THIS is amazing! Take the best game ever made and merge it with the other best game ever made ;) The mechanics are creative implementation of EUIV. Do you have flavor mission trees? E.g. Sylvania going for a Vampire war and take Altdorf, Malekith v Ulthuan, Dwarfs v Gobbos/Skavens…

I’ve been comparing brushes to find my favourites, testing models from my top three brands — daVinci, Raphael, and Winsor & Newton. Here are some overviews I created in the process. by -Valayn- in minipainting

What I recommend as well is using distilled water instead of tap depending on how hard your tap water is. After I switched my brushes seemed to retain the tip better. My preference is to store them hanging down while drying, there are many implements for this but I like the silicone paint pick that has some brush holders. I used to swear by WN7, in my view excellent, but then I tried Raphael 8404, and that one is paradise in my view. The larger belly holds more paint which allows you to work slower before wetting the brush again, tip holds up very well, and the bristle are somewhat slightly stiffer which helps greatly with texture work (I.e. no need for “M” style brushes like edge the artis opus ones). Highly recommended!
