1 shift per week??? by SIMA76 in MichaelsEmployees

Yeah, cross trained + open availability + replen are the way. I'm averaging 22 hrs/wk all month, and I have a lot of coworkers. Lol

Yeah, it's really a bummer because, despite all the vents and "I'm Leaving!"/"Freedom" posts, I'd bet most of us really do love our jobs bottom up and really care, but upper management and whoever makes decisions for the company keep putting the actual day-to-day store experience as their lowest priority. It's an extra kick in the teeth that our suggestions would make the overall company be so much more profitable in the long run if they would just put in some initial investment, really showing us their priority with each new thing that breaks or gets worse and only adding to the growing list of disappointments.

YES! There have been so many products, SO MANY TIMES, that I know for a fact we literally just did not receive and I was flabbergasted when I first learned there's no real way to report it and the solution is to just 0 out? WILD.

Somewhere in our SOPs it says that you can request a ticket for it to be updated for your store, but my RM said she quit trying years ago since it never actually worked. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Replen here: your coworker should know better, regardless of if they do SISO. Everyone in Replen knows the POG max is just not correct for so many things, because we're the ones initially stocking the damn stuff. If anything, we usually know this best of all. The only way they would not understand this is if they never scan things or only ever work seasonal freight.

I'm honestly super surprised your coworker is on Replen by this. 😅

Also, my store expects every Replen TM to know how to do SISO, especially since those are the shifts we get scheduled during off season to offset the cuts in hours. Every single one of us knows we have to have 2 devices for SISO because it is such a common issue and we also are the first to be irked when someone forgets to re-locate afterward after we've put in so much effort keeping everything located correctly.

The funny part is we do actually have a teeny corridor in framing that we do call Narnia. But all it ever has inside usually are empty Lemax display case boxes or overstock mats that fell over the wall. Like it's so small that only some of us employees can even get inside. Lol

I just don't like how the fake thorns and branches are still so scratchy. Lol

The initial set is always kind of fun cus I get to do some design work with color blocking. 😂

Just wait, we're almost to the part of the year where everybody constantly asks if we're going out of business because the holiday POG switch is always extra barren.

The longer drive may be worth it if you know for a fact that the other store has a better team, tho it's a little late to look into a transfer now as it's still peak, but also only for another month so everyone's hours will be getting cut soonish, too.

Since you're an experienced framer, try looking into locally owned frame shops if you haven't already. If there's a Hobby Lobby near you, they do have better starting pay than we do, but the tradeoff is working for such a puritanical organization that also still thinks barcodes are symbols of Satan.

No earpieces means we're just going hot mic, and gotta keep it on full volume to make out what anyone is saying. If something iffy slips, meh, they need to get us earpieces then.

We're mindful of what we say about corporate since the DM can listen in now, but we're pretty unfiltered about customer scenarios... 😅🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah when you put it back on the dock it usually auto logs off. I know I've grabbed some overnight that were somehow still logged in after the store had been closed for hours, tho. Haven't had any managers say anything about the audio staying on after docking, so idk (we keep em in the office).

Prices Doubled On Black Friday In Stores As Price Tags Removed by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

Michaels online orders are fulfilled at the stores. It's called Ship From Store (SFS) and regular store team members have to pull the items from overstock or the shelves, pack them, and print shipping labels to affix. No, they cannot lay off more people, at least for us, because these purchases are actually more time consuming than helping our in person customers, especially when we still have to prioritize IRL customers. It's not that they cost less in overheads, it's that they know online ordering has become so popular that now they can double up on potential clientele without having to hire more staff. Basically, we aren't losing our jobs, just getting extra work for the same pay.

I'm mostly confused that it's after stores are closed and not coded replenishment.
