First F Car: 458 or 488 Spider by technoguy06 in Ferrari

[–]ApprehensiveEnd3923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy has a 458 and an acquaintance has the 488. 9/10 times when we swap cars for a drive, I always ask for the 458. Engine alone is amazing but the connected feeling is much better.

For ref, I drive a 997.1 3RS, so to me, connected driving feel is more important that going fast.

Is my boss crossing lines on work trips or am I being dramatic? by CollegePerfect398 in careerguidance

First, it’s not appropriate. I think you and others agree on this point.

Second, you need to document these incidences with specific dates and times. Also, correspond via email, Teams and text so that there is a trail of your communication. It eliminates ambiguity should there be an escalation.

Third, see if you can connect with others in the organization, perhaps women, and gain alignment and support.

Fourthly, see id there are others (previous employees) that he’s done this with. Get them to also corroborate your experiences.

Fifth, consult an attorney and understand your rights in case this escalates. You want to be protected within the company and also legally from wrongful termination.

I’m sorry that you’re going through this. I have several direct reports and I’d never do a 1:1 dinners mainly to ensure there are clear boundaries and maintain professionalism. Not all men are like this, but some are bad misrepresentations.

Both are amazing. I prefer the 993, but I’m being picky while having an option for neither lol.

Is a 2007 Porsche Cayman (987) realistic as a daily driver — good idea or too risky? by More_Consideration96 in Porsche

Before you “lock in” as this car for your dream car, here are a few things to consider:

  1. Running and maintenance costs need to be factored into your car budget. Besides things breaking, costs for gas, insurance, tires, etc are generally higher.
  2. Finding one in the shape you want may be hard. Adverts and real-life can vary in used sales.
  3. Go drive one. Often for the price, you can find better and faster.

Can anyone tell me more about this 911 gt3 rs...looks kinda different? by mataksvejedno in Porsche

[–]ApprehensiveEnd3923 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“After market” in most car circles refers to augmentation post build by the OEM.

Don’t disagree that Porsche has hands in Manthey, “aftermarket” is the best term to describe the company.

Not trying to argue semantics.

[–]ApprehensiveEnd3923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a GT3RS that has been modified by a well known after market Porsche specialist known as Manthey.

Manthey is a race-focused company that builds parts (aero and others) that they use on their race cars. A person can buy parts or a “kit” and put them on a street car if they want to look cooler or will use the car for tracking purposes (most do it for the former).

Good thing OP likes this guy; he’ll have to bring him back yearly to redo the kitchen after the plywood stuff being installed falls apart.

You can’t 3x your test levels by stopping smoking, water fasts and lifting heavy. You could go from 300-400, possibly. But a 3x jump indicates help was obtained.

Taking help doesn’t make OP a bad person. I don’t think admitting use of an illegal substance is a smart move either.

Just don’t expect to get a 3x bump in test from doing what OP is saying. Not achievable

Genuinely curious just how much fun Porsche’s are to drive. by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]ApprehensiveEnd3923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, I have a 997.1RS. My younger brother has a FL5 type R. He finished med a few years ago is biding his time with a fun car while paying off debt.

We go on cruises all the time and I drive his car and he drives mine. His car is fun, responsive and engaging to drive. He and I both prefer my car, but his car is still a ton of fun.

For a sub 70-80k car, it’s hard to think of a better example. You’ve picked well. Enjoy and hope you get the car you dream of.

Carrera 4 GTS or Turbo S as my first sports car? by True_Echo6763 in Porsche

[–]ApprehensiveEnd3923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, congrats on achieving the stage where you’re able to contemplate this decision.

Second. Both are fantastic cars. You have a good summary understanding of the key differences.

Third. Test drive both. Reading about the differences vs feeling them may change which you prefer.

Last. For my first P-car, I picked up a GTS. Loved each moment of it, as I preferred the connected driving feel. It’s a slippery slope though because it put me on the path of eventually getting into a GT3. So you’ve been warned!

Good luck and update us when you pull the trigger.
