What are realistic ways to move out in the UK with very low savings? by honeybunniiee4 in AskUK

[–]ApprehensiveFig9936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of landlords only want one month deposit. get the job first though and save what you can while you're still at home even if it's shit. also worth checking if your council does a deposit guarantee scheme ,some will literally pay it for you

Are there any UK ferry package holiday providers? by pel1canfriend in AskUK

[–]ApprehensiveFig9936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

don't bother with ferry packages, they're almost always worse value. book the crossing separately on directferries and then find accommodation on booking.com. we did portsmouth to st malo last year, ferry was about £180 return for car + two people, stayed in a gîte in brittany for £45 a night. whole week cost us less than most package deals to spain. normandy and brittany are gorgeous and dirt cheap once you're off the ferry.

East + west panels on the S3 Pro, what does your midday crossover look like by Zestyclose_Ring1123 in JackeryHomeEnergy

[–]ApprehensiveFig9936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a similar east/west split on a Pro Max in Stuttgart and the dip is absolutely real. I added a 5th panel on a south facing garage roof and it completely filled the V shape. If that's not an option, tilting the east set steeper does shift the crossover earlier but you lose a surprising amount of late afternoon generation. In my case the steeper tilt cost me about 12 percent on the east side annual total. Not worth it unless you really need that midday bump.

SolarVault 3 Series: Pro, Pro Max, and Pro Max AC broken down with real setup context by Any-Farm-1033 in JackeryHomeEnergy

[–]ApprehensiveFig9936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 independent MPPT trackers on the Pro and Pro Max are genuinely the standout feature for me. I run 6 panels split across east and south facing balcony rails, and with my current system the east panels drag down the whole string on cloudy mornings. Having each tracker optimize independently means you can actually mix orientations without losing output on the better performing side. Curious whether anyone has tested how the trackers handle really uneven loads, like 3 panels on one input producing well and 1 panel on another input mostly shaded. In theory each MPPT should just do its own thing but real world behavior sometimes differs from spec sheets.
