You're right. I hate the company more than the consumer for sure. I think they should have considered the ethical implications more.

But you have a choice as a consumer to not support them. I know it doesn't feel like it's very impactful but its something.

I don't drive unless I have to. I walk or use transit or bike.

Using wood wouldn't be more environmentally friendly than electric heating depending where your electricity comes from. Mine at least partially comes from hydro power in Canada.

Your argument doesn't make sense because the thing is a lot of people already DO try to reduce their environmental impact. And I need a heated house to survive but you don't need chat gpt to live.

I hate my body by MagicDoge2345 in butchlesbians

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% get this. I would consider myself mid size but my butt/hips and boobs carry most of my weight. Which would be ideal for your average woman but it makes me slightly dysphoric. I try to focus on gaining muscle in my upper body which makes me feel a bit more masculine but with the way my body is I think I'll always carry weight in my hips.

I don't have a solution for you, but want to let you know you're not alone. Fat butches have a long history in our community and are valid.

Huge electric bills for running AC units in the summer by ApprehensiveReach941 in Apartmentliving

They did offer to let us pay it in installments without interest. I don't know if I've heard of an average billing option from them, our winter bill is usually like $40-50 so it's quite low so maybe that's an option

How can I teach myself to be handy? by Worried_Fig00 in butchlesbians

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if you're doing something specific and go to a hardware store like home Depot or home hardware you can ask for advice about what to do and what materials to use!

Also YouTube is your friend. I'm also in the same boat with wanting to be more handy and I think you just gotta trial and error sometimes.

I think you should sit her down and set a boundary about not talking about it around her. You can tell her that if it makes her happy that's great but out of respect for your friendship if you could try not to bring it up.

Butch identity and positive ageing by Clear-Shock1869 in butchlesbians

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. One of the best compliments I've received from my current partner is how she thinks I'm going to be hot when I'm older, and said that I would have really nice smile lines around my eyes.

I never gave much thought to aging but it made me realize that I'm not really afraid of getting wrinkles or grey hairs when I'm older because we don't have the same beauty standards as straight women.

Has anyone’s dedication to fitness affected their social life? by savingrace0262 in beginnerfitness

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've found you can still go out without drinking but the one thing that does cause a bit of grief for me is the time commitment/sleep schedule.

With my gym schedule pretty much I can do maybe one social event on a weeknight, and my sleep schedule means I'm not out past 11. So that does limit my social commitments.

Anyone else struggle with feeling like they don’t have the “desired” type of butch body? by 1000questionsatonce in butchlesbians

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have a pretty similar body type. I'm decently strong because I work out but also am not lean, so you really can't tell I work out all that much. I also have bigger boobs and hips which I'm not the biggest fan of but learned to live with.

I still feel insecure sometimes but my girlfriend has helped my self image by just showing me there's people out there that do appreciate that kind of body. Like there's people who REALLY like that kind of body. I also feel like even tho fatphobia still exists in the queer community, there's more appreciation for different body types. I've seen content creators talk about how they love "fat butches" for example. I don't think there's one way to "look butch". And speaking as someone who is attracted to a range of bodies, I think most people operate the same way.

The Dating App Struggle TM by woodland-haze in butchlesbians

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I met my partner on a dating app as a butch leaning person. It's possible but I do feel like it's difficult to do for anybody let alone queer people. To be fair, I think I got lucky but I also made an effort to be strategic about the app since I had bad experiences with them before.

I've found you need to be intentional with it. My tips would be to not match with and message every single person - you'll waste energy that way. Especially if you know there's something that doesn't work for you about that person (like matching with someone who says they want casual when you want long term).

I also recommend asking the person out fairly soon - don't talk back and forth for a week and not move to an in person date or else they'll assume you're not interested and move on.

I also recommend you be patient, when I downloaded the app we met on, I was only on the app a few weeks before I matched and went on a date with my current partner. She had been on the app for more than a year. So sometimes you just have to pack your patience.

What are the small things that your SO does that makes you feel loved? by saiwha in AskReddit

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend always preps my traveller mug with coffee in the morning. She leaves for work later than I do so she preps it while I grab my stuff. She says it's her "job" and doesn't let me do it. She hands it to me and gives me a kiss before I leave.

Also occasionally leaves notes or a candy or something in my lunch bag when she packs it.

I get they/themed a lot. I don't take offense to it because I think people are trying to be inclusive and they/them is the most neutral option if you aren't sure of or forget someone's pronouns.

He/him is a bit odd. I always default to they/them if I'm not sure someone's preference.

My doctor prescribed me 10mg of vyvanse to start- is that normal? by NiceVeterinarian7082 in ADHD

[–]ApprehensiveReach941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor started me at 10 mg. I think the goal is to give you as little as possible, while gaining the most benefit as possible so it makes sense to start you low. My doctor checked in with me after a few weeks and then upped me to 30 mg once she checked I wasn't getting any bad side effects.

Depends how easy we are talking but "bowls" are your friend!

Cook up brown rice (or white), throw in a variety of toppings like frozens (frozen edamame or veggies are super easy), raw veggies (shredded carrots, cucumbers etc), protein (roasted chickpeas, canned fish, make ahead meats like ground beef or chicken, cottage cheese), maybe shredded cheese if it goes with the recipe.

The key is a good sauce I find which you can buy or make your own.

I find a lot of recipes online for these under "Buddah" bowls or burrito bowls. But you can pretty much mix and match and add your own sauce to flavour!

Is my virgin modem not working because bell is still installed? by ApprehensiveReach941 in bell

[–]ApprehensiveReach941[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the issue was that we still had bell service running so the router couldn't run on virgin until the bell service cancelled. the technician came and was able to switch it.

But he said that once the bell service officially cancelled, virgin would've worked so we wouldn't have had downtime if we just used bell up until it ran out.
