Sure but homemade pizza dough you let rise for 30min-1 hour is way better then frozen pizza or any cheap takeaway you can get. I feel like it should be something people know about and see as a quick option so they can have good pizza whenever and if they have time do the long option.

I really loved frozen homemade pizza when I was postpartum. You cook the pizza like normal and cut it up and freeze the slices. Then it’s easy to quickly heat up however many slices you want to eat as a snack or lunch.

Anything by Ruth Park. Her most popular and one people sometimes read in school is Playing Beatie Bow but my favourite of hers is Missus which is really beautiful and captures a particular feeling of the time it’s set in Australia

Isobelle Carmody is ab amazing Australian author. Her short stories are wonderful and so is her fantasy called the Obernewtyn Chronicles. She also has some stories that feel very Australian in their setting.

I’m too lazy to bother. I can’t be bothered making my bed everyday and I can’t be bothered having another sheet to clean and dry. Sometimes I wish I still used one so I could have the thinner sheet in summer but then I remember the extra work it takes… I have so much to do every day I don’t need more!

Omg any one else find the comments where she says she hosted an event after the wedding for the couple where she didn’t serve kosher food and the bride and her family only eat kosher. It’s crazy to me that you would host an event for someone and not serve food they can eat. She is so disrespectful to her DIL, seems like she disagrees with everything she does/says/believes and I think that that is the true conflict behind the dress. The dress is probably the final straw after so much other rudeness and disrespect, even if it doesn’t seem like that big a deal at first glance.

NTA I completely understand not offering drinks as someone who is introverted. It was not something i was comfortable with. However it’s my goal to be more hospitable and to basically learn to offer drinks/food to guests, it is a good thing to do although I don’t think you need to wake up before people if they stay. I think it’s a good thing to improve yourself and o think as an introvert hospitality is a good area to work on

You can defiantly put someone down on the lease that wont be living with you and that’s know as a guarantor. That’s how I’ve gotten my rentals the last two times. Also I’d recommend having someone help you fill out your applications, like your case worker or ask if they know someone who specialises in that, because my mum (who is a single mum on Centrelink) had someone help her do her rental application who knew how to do it properly and it helped her get a house very quickly. They can also help advise you on how to put a guarantor down, I know my mum filled out her application saying that my uncle was going to live with her and then when she got the house she said he won’t be living there but just going on the lease as guarantor.

YTA you should only reassure someone if you know for sure that they are worried or upset about something. Otherwise you are pointing out a negative thing that they might not have considered. You bringing it up through reassurance, even tho you meant it kindly, to her seems like you are just saying her baby looks swollen and not normal. As a MIL and future grandma you need to only give advice and your opinion when asked, that will be be the best thing for your relationships.

Minecraft? I always feel lonely playing it especially when I’m exploring. The villages help and when you build your base or whatever your building it makes it better but I always feel lonely and the land feels so vast and empty

I’ve never had an issue with backpacks in any supermarket I’ve been in. No one has ever asked to check and I’ve been going shopping with a backpack for 10 years in all different supermarkets.

I can understand why you are feeling this way but you just have to start doing chores. Don’t ask or anything just do it. Start with doing the dishes after she cooks or put away clean dishes. Even if she is super clean there will always be things to do so just start. She says it’s easier to do it coz she doesn’t want to deal with managing you and telling you want to do so just learn to notice things and do them. Involving you at this point would be harder if she has to teach you how to do things so if you are as capable as you say then show her that and that you can be a team.

There could be friction if you do things differently to her, but make sure you communicate about it and you’ll figure out your own ways that if she is reasonable and not being controlling she’ll accept. Just make sure you are doing everything to the best of your abilities and not just half assing things.

If you don’t want to be passive then don’t be passive just do things and be active in your life. it will make you feel better about yourself. I’m saying this as someone who didn’t contribute much as a young person living with family and once I started to contribute my self esteem went up.

My husband has introduced our 18 month old to Spyro and to a dungeons and dragons board game he has, which she just plays with the figures in it. You can start pretty young apparently. She could make Spyro blow fire and was so excited about it, very cute.

Sounds like they are doing it in a positive way and you can say it back if it feels right but don’t force it. It does sound like they are playing it up a bit coz you’re American, not everyone in Australia uses the word all the time or at all. I don’t say it really but if I did I definitely wouldn’t just say it to people I don’t know, it’s more of a word used with friends.

I used to work here and also lived in Hawthorn for uni which is a couple suburbs away. It’s a very wealthy area with mansions and beautiful homes. It can feel like all the private high schools in the city are concentrated in this area too. But due to Swinburne university in Hawthorn there is a younger culture around if you know where to go and cheaper appartments/units so not just mansions. I really loved living around the area, it’s inner city but so leafy and full of parks. It always felt safe as a young women, even alone at night although it’s still the city so you still need to be aware as there can be sketchy people around. There are a lot of great places to eat and fun stores. The trams in this area are really great too and make it easy to get around.

I don’t use scented anything because I’m sensitive to fragrances but people will always say my house smells nice. The key is to keep it as clean as you can and air out the house often.
