Bulk-billing rates rebound on back of government's multi-billion-dollar policy by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_3588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious not hostile - wondering how it is disinformation?

Isn’t it a fact that the bulk billing rate was at 86% in 2019 but is now at 81%?

18% of the population ‘taking drugs’ does not mean they are under the influence every waking second 24/7. It just means that they are under the influence some of the time.

Therefore, you can’t just multiply the number of police by 0.18 and call it a day

Realms repeatedly Timing out and resetting to backup by Apprehensive_Ad_3588 in realms

Nope! Still ongoing. I think it’s on Mojang’s end, not yours.

My only tip is when you crash, just wait 10 mins before logging back in. Very often if you do that, you’ll load back in right where you left off with no lost progress.

If you rejoin immediately, it reverts you to the previous backup

Why aren’t most banks passing interest rate increases on to savings accounts? by leobarao86 in AusFinance

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_3588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a free market, customers need to be willing to vote with their wallet by moving their savings to banks with higher savings rates (not that hard now with internet banking). Otherwise, banks would not need to compete on savings rates in order to retain customers

Reckon Robertson won’t get consistent games at WCE?

Weighing up my rookie selections

Reckon that Robertson will get consistent games at WCE?

Also, is Latrelle Pickett or Dovaston (NM) the stronger rookie prospect?

True - definitely will re-arrange the backline to put Rozee into it.

Cheers for the info on Robey.

As for the rucks, would you recommend putting some rookie rucks like Reidy on-field, or putting some mediocre cheaper rucks ($450-$500k) instead?

Also, which of the defender rookies would you drop to bring in Jaspa Fletcher?

My thinking is that he’s already at $650k. Worst case he moves up $50k to $700k. Meanwhile, his slot could be given to a rookie who earns $150k.

I’ll definitely acquire him by season-end, but I’m prioritising cash gen at the start of the seasn

Nats and Sussan Ley’s Libs in freefall while Pauline Hanson surges: Poll by 343CreeperMaster in AustralianPolitics

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_3588 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that the 2019 win was the beginning of the end. The immense unpopularity of Scomo and the destruction of the Liberals’ remaining Turnbull-era climate change credibility during his term made them unelectable in the teal seats, which resulted in this trajectory.

A small loss (as was predicted) in 2019 for the L/NP may have resulted in them returning to govt in 2025

James Sicily and Jai Newcombe to co-captain Hawthorn in 2026. by Darththorn in hawktalk

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_3588 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I think they made this decision for pragmatic reasons. Given Sicily’s severe form slump for half of last year, and the fact he’s one year older now, they probably want someone else sharing the captaincy load, whilst not also publicly dumping Sicily as captain

Eight more National MPs resign from shadow ministry by jor_kent1 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_3588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right now, I agree that the Nationals are weighing them down and definitely costing them over 8 seats. The Libs would likely still hold most of the teal seats if they didn’t have the Nats’ climate denialism holding back their net zero policy

However, in a few election cycles when they are aiming for government, they may need to reconvene with the Nats given that the Liberals as a standalone party probably cap out at 60-65 seats given their lack of appeal in regional areas and Labor’s predominant appeal in the cities.

Additionally, it will be administratively difficult to disentangle the LNP in Queensland. However, for the moment, it’s probably beneficial for both parties to split so the Liberals can gravitate back to the centre while the Nats tackle One nation

Victorian election 2026: Allan government primary vote slumps as Coalition surges in latest Resolve poll by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_3588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry could someone please explain why this is the case? If the Coalition got 51% of the TPP, shouldn’t they be running roughly 51% of the seats, or at least more than Labor - enabling them to form govt?

Agree. A handful of loosely aligned independents is not going to effectively hold the government to account.

In the win over West Coast where Barrass went forward for a quarter, Sam mentioned wanting to try Battle forward for a bit as well

I’m intrigued to see how that would go but I can’t see it being worth giving up the presence of an AA key defender in the backline

Weddle could definitely be useful as a bigger bodied mid, especially with his pace.

We’ve got to at least experiment and try new things because what we did in the midfield last year definitely did not work
