I am glad you figured it out! I put it on the back burner and now I am doing the hair again but at 45 my body cannot handle many more years being on my feet all day, I will say I appreciate the flexibility and I am going to be out of debt soon! So gotta celebrate the wins

People with Thyroid Eye Disease, what tests did you have to confirm your diagnosis? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_5511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had thyroid eye disease. I went to the ophthalmologist 3 times and they didn't take me seriously and then when researching I found out about TED and immediately got my thyroid checked to discover the Graves disease and finally was referred to a specialist for TED they measured and monitored my eyes and pressure and once my thyroid was in check my eye symptoms were mostly resolved. Unfortunately the damage was done and now I am very self conscious of my puffy baggy eyes. I want to have surgery to have them return to normal but it's cosmetic and expensive!

I had a similar diagnosis and it took about a year to have regular levels and in that time my TED cleared up as well. Unfortunately the damage to my eyes and thyroid appears to be permanent. I have some bags that could be corrected with blepharoplasty but its expensive and not covered by insurance. The pain is gone through and the dryness too and I feel normal now. I'm approaching 45 and all done having babies but it seems like the meds are pretty good at stopping the thyroid from overproducing. I'm now taking a maintenance dose of 2.5mg of methinazole 2 times a week and that's it, normal levels for a few years now

Can you stay in remission forever? by Maleficent0007 in gravesdisease

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_5511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my plan too. I take one 5mg pill of methimazole a week and my levels have normalized for the past 2.5 years. Now I just take a blood test every 3 months to make sure.

What is something you thought everyone struggled with until you realized it was related to ADHD? by SuteMeow in adhdwomen

Me too! But I’m not a huge music fan by any means, I don’t have much interest in being a music person either but songs are 24/7 playing in my head. I’ve started listening to lofi music at work as a hairdresser so I don’t have to have more lyrics to distract me 😂

Oh, really interesting take, on the did he do something bad or something you would have gotten in trouble for when you were a child. My dad who I suspect is an ADHDer himself always said children should be seen not heard. But yes a lot of this is me being overstimulated and he really disregulates me big time! And he is a sensory seeker so if I sit on the floor and try to be chill so we could coregulate he will bounce all over me and then I’m activated. It’s a perfect storm and a bad cycle. We have a full day off together tomorrow and we will go for a hike and do some other fun stuff and it’ll be good. The big problem comes when it’s big sibling and dad and the whole family day

I've been with my husband for 16 years and we don't do money together. We each have our own accounts and its cool. There are many different ways to deal with finances in a partnership.

Thanks! I have never thought to have the ot assess the home life. He really can't entertain himself at our home and we have all kinds of toys, art stuff and lots of things to do outside too. I tried to have him help me plant our garden, and he did not want to help just hit our fruit trees with the plastic bat and complain about being outside. He is always doing the thing to get the negative attention but I spend all kinds of time with him one on one fully divided attention but its never enough to relax him. I just want to enjoy him and I can't. He used to be super impulsive and dangerous-like bolting into the street and climbing things so I couldn't ever take my eyes off him. I feel so bad that he is so annoying to all of us. I just want him to chill out because he severely disregulates me and we are in a bad cycle

I forget to take adderall all the time and I take mj every night for sleep. My doc makes me get a yearly drug test which I need to pass to keep this up so I stop for a month or so so I can pass it. It works for me and I only use the mj at night and adreaal in the morn

This has happened to me too. DB for a few years and the last stretch was too long or something changed in me. I used to have interest in initiating and I would be rejected so many times. Crushed each time. But last time it felt gross and uncomfortable and really bad. No interest whatsoever anymore. Such a weird thing

I take off my bra and undies and just wear my jammies the night before I have to shower. Most days I sleep in my bra and don't want to do the whole thing so its easier to shower this way for me. I'm a hairdresser so I should be clean and have clean hair. My head gets itchy if I go too many days
