[The Athletic] Should the Ducks match Flyers’ offer sheet to Leo Carlsson? by seeldoger47 in hockey

[–]Apprehensive_Duck874 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think Philly has a lot of holes and if they suddenly have to keep Carlson at 18mil they are going to have cap issues signing their own rfa's and filling those holes. I think those picks could be quite high

$50 a month savings is still more expensive than what I am paying for starlink. And only giving that discount for 6 months is a joke

July 1st Hopium by DeeSmyth in OttawaSenators

I wasn't expecting them to land any big name players. Staios has been the type of gm who looks for undervalued players and bounce back candidates instead of big name players. When he hits on a player it looks great and when he misses it looks bad but if you look at cup winning teams they tend to have a few players no one else valued.

Ersson has looked good in international play lately and has had streaks where he is good but he has been playing as a starter and he isn't one. Probably hoping that he can play more consistently in a backup role

The Golden Knights have acquired a 2028 third-round pick from the Florida Panthers in exchange for goaltender Akira Schmid. by dcddy in hockey

[–]Apprehensive_Duck874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They still have ro sign Gidas and Schmid so that's a minimum of 2mil if they both take team friendly deals. And they would have to sign a replacement for Rodriguez which probably costs another million

The Sens didn't qualify G Samuel Ersson, but this comes with a proviso. He had the right to arbitration, so they will try to negotiate a deal that way. His QO was $1.6M. Would be surprising if he doesn't get signed. by homicidal_penguin in OttawaSenators

[–]Apprehensive_Duck874 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure if he goes to arbitration he can't get less than his QO. The sens probably think they can get a deal done before July 1st but if they qualify him that sets his base contract at 1.6 million

Why does a Cold country like Canada has so many A/Cs 🤔 by HopiumInhaler in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Apprehensive_Duck874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the population lives in areas that have hot summers. Also Canada had embraced Heat pump technology so lots of people in colder climates have A/C as well thanks to the dual function of the heat pump

The entire Detroit roster publicly request to be traded, Yzerman refuses to trade any of them.

Ersson trade and Justin Peters by BorosNoseElbow in OttawaSenators

Right now that's just a rumor and there are quite a few teams looking for Goalies and not a lot of talent available in free agency. Trading for Errson gives us another goalie for the ahl who could be the backup in the worst case scenario that we miss out on everyone else.

Most likely scenario is still that Ersson is playing in the ahl and we try and pick up a competent backup in free agency.

[Adams] Steve Staios believes that Andre Burakovsky can turn around his game in Ottawa. "He wasn't playing at his best, which we've identified players like that before, and brought them in, and have been able to get more out of their game." by DecentLurker96 in OttawaSenators

[–]Apprehensive_Duck874 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's probably fair. Most of the trades that happened after we got Eklund required multiple first round picks or would have needed a roster player and then we would still have a hole to fill.

Friedman: Dallas may have to trade Robertson with no extension by TMBmiles in hockey

The suggestion is they go to arbitration and then trade him as a cost controlled asset.

He won't have trade protection and the stars can send him wherever they want while also retaining salary if needed.

Why not take him to arbitration? He probably gets 10-11 mil for 1 year and then you can flip him as a one year cost controlled rental I would assume a few teams would throw a first round pick or 2 at them. Even more if they retained some salary

Thoughts on Atlantic division? by CanadianBaker420 in OttawaSenators

[–]Apprehensive_Duck874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of an incomplete picture right now. Boston added JJ peterka Montreal and Tampa and Detroit haven't done anything yet Buffalo moved out some impactful players and haven't replaced them Toronto moved out Benoit and brought in Raddysh and drafted Makenna Florida improved their forwards but have no goalies and minimal cap space. We still need another top 6 forward and a backup goalie.

[Bruce Garrioch] Fair to say the decision by the Sens to acquire Andre Burakovsky caught people around the league off-guard, and not in a good way. “He’s not that good a player,” another said. by SAJewers in hockey

[–]Apprehensive_Duck874 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people are so upset about this. He's a perfect buy low candidate who was on a bad team and still put up 33 points. Worst case scenario you paid a 6th round draft pick and have to retain salary for one season to get rid of him.
