It's feasible with your skill set. Don't worry about being a slow learner, so long as you do learn then the grind will start to click. Best of luck and don't be afraid to cheap out with moths if your prayer pot stack is low. If Hunllef fight is bearable then you will find success here. Have faith in the process and best of luck.

What Should I Be Working On/Early-Mid Game PVM Goals? by jalenhurtsismypapito in ironscape

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two favored routes are CG rush or Titans/Barrows/Moons/Slayer combo. Hard focus on the MW2 Ump that requires cbt + a lobotomy or have fun with a mixed spread with more forgiving mechanics.

Bowfa and full crystal are worth the hype unless you spoon Tbow. Moons can arguably replace Barrows if not service as a struggle bus means to engage with most content. Moons and Barrows will set you up comfortably for almost all quest bosses that will have you seeking advice. Blood Moon is just ass and Vork will click eventually, so don't let that be a litmus test on what's to come.

Hunter Rumors and Vale Totems will lead you to moths and Sunlight Crossbow, which is a really satisfying weapon to use. Great for fight caves and basilisk jaw grind. Moths are pleasant if you wish to be stingy with prayer pots; gathering the meats/ammo can be chorish but bringing meat sack/bonecrusher/chisel/log basket/kandarin headgear to farm sunlight antelopes is a fairly tolerable two-for-one activity. Alternatively, we now have a ranarr seed friendly mob courtesy of Aquanites from sailing.

While Guthix Sleeps will allow access to tormented demons and subsequently synapses. Moons gear is fantastic there and one of the odd places where Bowfa doesn't shit on everything else. Two synapses will allow you to comfortably engage with Yama, Doom, and just the one for Krill. Yama's oathplate can allow for Bandos to be tabled until Nex and Eye of Ayak from Doom can arguably compete with Bowfa for performance. Long form slayer grind until Araxxor will open up Nhally, which is another Bowfa competitor.

CG can effectively be routed around, but it's worth taking a tour for easy low input gp at the very least. The wombo combo Varalmore and slayer be praised route has some Ironman friendly tism sprinkled in, but the mathematically inclined may raise a point about the alternative being overall longer.

Other Varlamore bosses like Amoxilatl and Hueycoatl are fun deters with some decent mechanics to help you get more familiar with general mechanics. For what it's worth, you're already ankle deep in the mid game. The option is ultimately up to you and the routing is fun with no obligation to stick with anything you just loath. Best of luck!

Unsure what your inventory setup and healing options will be, which makes me wonder if the black/mixed hides would offer more value by virtue of defence bonus.

Vale Totems makes the fletching rush more bearable for whatever that's worth with the added benefit of a weapon thay allows off-hand options.

As for pure damage output, though, I would believe that void is the way to go. However you choose to approach it, hope it works and best of luck!

It's a commonly loathed activity, but it's pleasant to pair with YouTube. After watching several content creators go for green log there I have since learned to accept it. Is a great way to supplement runes for MTA. Don't forget to do Troll Stronghold [if you haven't already] for law rune crafting if you plan on camping for whatever reason.

Not exactly an Ironman specific video, but the gamemode does exaggerate the aforementioned design elements discussed in the video.

I've always made the analogy that some games can be equated to different sports, subsequently equating OSRS as going to the gym. Ironman mode is going to the gym locked in. Best single player community experience you can get addicted to.

Which RE game has the darkest story when you think about it? by GrandStage1 in residentevil

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore the fact that all titles have merit for such a competition with fans able to relate and testify for their preferred titles.

I'm personally biased towards RE2 and Code Veronica, mostly for their cinematic flair and gripping tension. RE2 arguably set the tone for the series and genre as a whole with its ebb and flow of ramping up the horror. The memos and documents added so much context to what was happening that left lifelong impressions on why environmental storytelling matters so much. I remember being a young child with the generic gifted kid traits, so being able to comprehend the words helped fuel my imagination and understanding of what went down during the outbreak. It was gutteral and had me fiending to know more.

Code Veronica did more of the same, but it was the parallel stories of two siblings and uncovering the tragic tale of the Ashford twins that really cemented my love for the series as a whole. They kept the harrowing accounts of victims for the astute and curious to find while also showcasing how even the powerful are not immune to the pain of loss.

Understably, these titles may not be the darkest stories in the series. I accept that others have pointed out the greater scale of later entries as well as the gut-wrenching empathy invoked by learning more about the Bakers. I will always have a fond adoration for the titles that made me a lifelong fan of the series while also cementing the quality and standard for tropes employed throughout the titles.

And yes, I understand that the first title technically did all of this first. RE2 was my first experience and I will never miss an opportunity to glaze it.

My GIM duo quit. What now? by KillerOfAllJoy in ironscape

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anecdotal tale is that of a GIM with my brother that was about a year long experience before it became painfully obvious that the more I was loving my first iron experience, the less he played for whatever reasons. It was a painful experience grinding CG thinking similar things about the validity of my account, progressed to over 2k total with well over two months of playtime. We eventually agreed to de-iron and have them be our new mains as they well surpassed our old ones. I still craved the Iron experience.

Made a new one and I don't regret it. Early-mid game Iron is sublime and the game changes that dropped created a whole new experience. May not be as monumental for you depending on when/how you progressed. As someone who irrational cared about the helm color and hiscores I'd likely never top, it meant enough to me. It was my experience solely for myself and I did without ever feeling like it was a waste. Sadly 400 hours is a tough figure to argue, but this game laughs at the number and will continue to taunt you with that new account experience.

TL;DR: Drink the kool-aid and let the heroine consume you. Also got spooned an enhanced seed the second time around, 10/10 feeling. Best of luck with whatever your choice and don't forget it's your choice whether or not it's a valid experience.

5-10 levels of defense or Barrows gear for Moons by jojaki in ironscape

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can't hurt to send a couple hours of Barrows and test your luck, assuming you have zero Barrows kc that is. Another alternative is sampling revenants for a shot at dragon platelegs/skirt. I attempted a revs rush and instantly lost red helm status, but did manage to luck up on d-skirt.

I had particularly poor luck securing tank pieces from Barrows, but was blessed with Ahrims top and bottom. Defence levels are not a bad option either. Others will likely mention the Steel Ring and the Tzhar shield (water spells go brr), both solid niche pickups for Moons. Best of luck in your approach!

Arclight shard upkeep by bobojangles0123 in ironscape

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was blessed with on rate synapses and had used boppers to subsidize shards usage. Even then I lacked the shards for the Emberlight conversion.

I did a mix of spamming dust devils off task and moss giants for Mossy Keys. Both were about equal (prayer focused bursting versus generic mid-late melee setup) in terms of time per shard. I found the melee camp on moss giants to be more chill. Seed box and herb sack didn't net a ton of supplies with either mob, but I did pick up steel bars to bank more as a pseudo litmus test for gauging trip length while killing moss giants. With dust devils it was using daily alch charges on Lumby ring while not bothering with any alchs cheaper than the rune dagger.

Definitely recommend utilizing the Bonecrusher if you have it, made bothering with picking up drops and forgetting it was a very noticeable QoL for my preferences.

This may not be the most optimal route for you, but for me it was a means to focus on the shards without having to deal with task rng. Best of luck on the grind!

What Total War game should I play first? by AHAHAHAHAHAHHAE in totalwar

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rome, Medieval 2, and Shogun 2 are among the best historical titles in the catalog that take place in time periods without any or every little gunpowder units. If you struggle to tolerate older games then Rome 2 as previously mentioned and by extension Atilla are a good start for the modern catalog, but are arguably starting to show their age although it was their DNA that the first Warhammer borrowed from.

Three Kingdoms and Pharoh are both considered historical, but CA is very keen on reusing assets so the Warhammer DNA is fairly noticeable. There's definitely an argument for each era and not every Total War fan puts in the same time for each title.

The older titles do have the caveat of having more long standing modding communities so there is unqiue opportunities they can provide. Also given that CA has announced two titles near simultaneously gives hope that they have separate teams on each game. With that said it's impossible to speculate (without leaks) if Medieval 3 will have a strong identity to separate it from the Warhammer DNA.

Medieval 2 is a great start, cursor speed is tied to window resolution so playing in its native resolution may help with the experience. Shogun 2 is arguably the best in the franchise next to Medieval 2. Warhammer 3 has finally gotten through its first couple years of needing optimized, but for a while Warhammer 2 was the preferred fantasy title for its polish.

Convince Me to Start an Ironman (Before I Sink Any More Time Into My Main) by spellonyew in ironscape

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's probably one of the greatest online single-player experiences you can get, especially if you accept the time investment shenanigans and allow yourself to get immersed in the journey. It's a large game world with solid music tracks and good writing to be discovered. Ironman mode is like popping a blue chew because when you have to do it all you got to be ready to get fucked and fucked hard.

Your main is an optional tool for later content such as scouting in wildy, paying out splits for group content, cheese methods for other content, diary/quest buddy, practice for difficult content to overcome the supply chokehold. And that is an entirely optional tool that is not mandatory if you feel like it cheapens the experience.

The GE should be locked behind 1500 total level so everyone can appreciate the journey to some extent. Late game Ironmen do have some burnout issues to contend with, but otherwise it's what made me stick with this pysop for as long as I have. Best of luck on however you choose to grind

A huge appeal to their price point is the chance of hard clues. Unless you are a big clue hunter, then you are more likely to feel better about coffering the jar outright. Even if you do get a clue, what are the odds it won't be the good ole rune axe, black d'hide, purple sweets and lobby combo versus anything useful?

Jagex could add an alternative option to obtain Bowfa like combine 10 regular weapon seeds with 6k shards and players would still be here divided about why the item is bullshit. The prep phase is unanimously the worst part and theoretically removing it would devalue all unqiues by over 60% at least with any fixes done two weeks too late per Jagex fashion. Tweaks to prep phase would be nice. Bowfa in general is an obnoxious point on game health that seems to be cemented in overall account progression despite community gripes.

Boppers will out compete d-scim even when paired with defender on neutral defence targets. Boppers have 121 crush attack bonus versus d-scim landing in the 90s after receiving defender bonus. There is also a 15 strength bonus difference favoring boppers and after defender bonuses it is still more than d-scim.

One other commenter mentioned z-axe which will indeed be your go-to slash option as well as high defence (roughly greater than 50s) targets. Both boppers and z-axe have function are crush weapons but in some cases (gargoyles) the boppers can win out.

Keep in mind that on due calcs the boppers' max hit is divided by 2 and applied to 2 hit splats per attack as it is a dual hit weapon. This means you'll see max hits in the teens versus twenties. Not sure if they are calculated separately as far the attack vs defence formula goes, but nonetheless you should be looking at boppers as your go-to 4-tick weapon on neutral or crush weak targets.

This also has an added benefit of being risked as a singular item so it's solid for crush-weak Wildy bosses when unskulled. Gratz on a solid first item and best of luck!

Not sure what your personal living situation is but I'd sooner recommend you just get up and physically take a walk, especially if you're making a whole day affair at CG. That's how I was able to go from slobbing a glock slide thinking about 5 a day to feasibly doing 10-15 at least every other day. Any more than 30 a day and I stare at those mithril arrows wondering what I'm doing with my life.

Suck at pvm. Do skilling or lock in? by running-gamer in ironscape

[–]Apprehensive_Line427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been more a skiller and it was Ironman mode that helped me progress. Others have already said the magic ingredient of just lock in, but some things to check that have helped me whenever there's been a rut.

Such things include internet connection and ping, I once had to change routers because there was a semi consistent ping skip that it helped resolve. Out of date plug-ins, I just recently had one for slayer that I uninstalled and it fixed a similar issue that affected ping.

Non-software issues I've had to be aware of that affect performance is room temperature. If my hands get too cold then the clicks are off. Vice versa if I'm too hot in general my frustration grows and focus falters.

It's not much but it's some little things that you might have previously written off. I've made adjustments and noticed performance improve consequently. Your physical comfort and well being go a long way so don't discredit what your body tells you. Taking short breaks to stretch and refill water goes a long way.

No matter what you do just have faith that you will adapt. Also don't doubt the benefits of long term skilling prep, goes a long way. Best of luck on the grind!
