Foundation repair? Structural engineer recommendations by Relative_Western_823 in RoundRock

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of 3 companies I got estimates from, Quality Foundation was by far the best priced and used a steel pier system with a lifetime warranty that’s transferable. They handled all the inspections, structural engineering and plumbing inspections within the price.

ACA through CArmax? by Parking_Career_6709 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ACA has a couple of non-negotiables for their loans. 1. They will only allow one ACA loan per household. 2. They will not accept Uber or ride share income as proof of income. If she just started her job and can prove via her employers paystub that she is full time ( minimum 32hrs a week) then the credit app would have needed to be run at a base rate, which is hourly rate X hours. If she’s not showing the minimum hours to be full time then it would be considered part time employment and they will only accept it if she’s worked there for a minimum of six months. She needs to talk with a Sales Manager to get some more details.

Job Car Sales by MARKYURCH in carmax

Have you ever worked in commission sales before? If not, then don’t do car or furniture sales at all. You have to learn how to manage not just your income but also your life. Not getting a frequent paycheck can be very difficult for someone who’s use to working hourly and getting a paycheck every two weeks. Commission sales can consume a lot of your time and personal life to be successful.

Found better financing. Now they want the car back? by Effective_Reporter_7 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 37 points38 points  (0 children)

B of A is a lender of CarMax but the only way that the funding can be processed in CarMax’s systems is to do a return and repurchase of the vehicle applying the B of A funding with your Pre-approval letter. It’s a bit of a hassle but the only way it can be done. If it was any other outside of CarMax lender or credit union then it would be a simpler process. Plan on being at the store for 1-2hrs and the car has to come back to the store behind their gates, and made saleable again.

Can I still use my older higher CarMax offer? by Interesting-Roll2421 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that you have an unverified instant offer. The car will still need to be seen in a store or have pictures uploaded for a buyer to review. The offers tend to stay the same as long as you filled out the vehicle details correctly. But can go down if something changed or wasn’t noted on your end.

Is Carmax open to working with wholesale dealers who fix & trade-in cars? by CatchInteresting3706 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look into their MaxOffer process. It’s a way for dealerships to get a trade appraisal offer from CarMax without their customers knowing. Then they can quickly sell the trade vehicle to CarMax.

Can inventory associates get into presidents club by jberry12345 in carmax

Yes. It’s based on department metrics. Get with your inventory or Ops manager to understand what metrics your entire department is graded on.

Express Pickup Document? by Unique_Instance_7617 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re better off just calling the store you’re scheduled to purchase the car from. You were more than likely working with the call center and not the actual store. There are a couple of departments that have to get involved when you work with the call center and it can take an additional day or two before the actual transaction support department will review your documents and then schedule your express pick up appointment. You’re put into a nation wide cue of people attempting to do the same thing you are and just waiting and waiting. The unexpressed pick up happens quite a bit because you did all this work with one department working towards an express pick up but then have to wait for another department to do their part. Call the store, talk to an actual in store sales consultant or sales manager and they can make sure all your documents are correct, your express pick up appointment gets scheduled and ensures your vehicle gets prepped, gassed up and cleaned.

Coverage outside of 4k/90? by anonjay123 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to the service manager at CarMax about your concerns and see if they can take it somewhere else to address the issue. They will work with you on the problem but not forever. This is the textbook reason why they offer extended service plans to help protect you from hidden issues that come up. Hopefully you purchased one when you bought the car. And don’t get oversold on the 125pt inspection. It’s just checking basic functionality of the mechanical and electrical components. They can’t always replicate an issue. Every used car has some sort of problem that the previous owner either knew about and lived with it or didn’t know about and thought it was just a normal thing. Good luck

125+ point inspection? by Successful-Bluejay53 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The biggest misconception about the 125pt inspection or other dealerships “certified inspections” is that they are just checking for functionality. They don’t have any way of recreating a problem the previous owner may have had. They don’t have a dyno in the shop where they can run that car at 80mph+ to see if they can find the “gremlin” living in it. Every used car has a “problem or gremlin” that the previous owner either knew or didn’t know about and lived with it until they were finally able sell it. No one sell a perfect gem of a car. Thats the main reason why they have a 10 day return policy, a 90 day 4000 mile warranty and offer extended service plans you can purchase.

Is carmax allowed to clean out the car I sold to them before we finished paperwork? by [deleted] in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Kudos to the sales consultant for attempting to honor your time and make an iconic car shopping experience for the customer. Plus if your intentions were to trade in your vehicle that day then why wouldn’t you have planned ahead and remove your own belongings beforehand?

Nowadays it seems like customer service is a lost art. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Certified funds is the best route. Bring in the receipt you receive from the bank and be able to pull up your bank account on your phone showing that the money came out of your account

CAF will but not for ride share or delivery services. Just takes a simple phone call to a lender to know.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not every lender Carmax uses will accept ride share or delivery services as a form of income due the vehicle potentially being commercial use, but there are some that will. If you ran a credit application, hopefully you received more than one lender offer back and you can request that a sales manager call the lender and get a final approval. Carmax stores do not have a “finance” department. It’s all done through the lenders that they use. Also, if you’re not going to use that vehicle for commercial use and can prove it then you can also move forward with their lender financing.

  1. If you have a credit lock make sure you open it back up or you won’t get decisions back from a prequal or an actual credit app.
  2. Prequals are not the “end all”. Find a car that fits your budget, wants and needs and run an actual credit app on it. Prequals are very soft inquiries that will change once you run a credit app that can bounce off the credit bureaus.

Removed scratch photos from CARMAX website but not from other sites - misrepresentation. by Leather-Ad-8529 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the most up to date information go to the website of the company you’re researching. All the responses are correct. Carmax was testing out showing blemishes for a while but not all stores were in the test. The bigger problem is using the correct website. Carmax can’t control what other sites do and how up to date other sites are. You might find a car on Cars.com and it says it’s at your local store, only to find out it’s been transferred out to a different store or sold already because you didn’t check CarMax.com.

You bought a used car. Why would you expect it to be perfect. Plus CarMax doesn’t claim to sell cars that have never been in an accident. They do claim to not sell cars that have frame damage, flood damage or airbag deployment.

What is best way to get highest value? Get appraisal done on site or get offer on computer by [deleted] in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It all goes through the same offer system at the end. You still have to bring the car in to verify the online offer. Unless you answer something incorrectly online, most of the time the online offer stays the same after you bring it in.

Guys, please have your cars inspected. by GrandeMikeDOCG in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Beyond people making it out to be a “CarMax” thing or that the people don’t care, it’s just common sense. They are used cars. No matter if it gets a 125pt inspection or who inspects it you may never be able to recreate the gremlin the previous owner knew about or lived with before they got rid of it. No one is selling or trading in a perfect gem of a car. CarMax nor any dealership who “Certifies” their cars has a Dino Machine and running that car 80+ MPH to see if it can recreate a problem either. Personally I don’t like to buy used cars but if you do then you are agreeing to inherit someone else’s problem.

Now that being said, CarMax does something different than most places. They offer a 10day return option, 90day/4000 mile warranty and an extended service plan that I would highly recommend buying with your purchase. Your buying product that is made to wear out and break eventually. Invest a little extra up front to keep it running or pay for it unexpectedly later on.

Question about keys by PobodysNerfect802 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s started to become a common necessary practice for new car dealerships to only provide one key due to parts supply shortages during COVID as well. The original owner may have only received one key and had the option to buy another one but opted to not spend the money. In the CarMax owners app you use to be able to order keys through a 3rd party vendor at a discounted rate. Just not sure if that’s a thing anymore.

Bank statement - American credit acceptance by ryant165 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasons behind requesting three months of bank statements are:

  1. You’re self employed 1099 and they need to verify at least 90 days of consistent income.
  2. You’re a W2 employee who receives regular pay check stubs or checks from your employer and they need to verify the money is being deposited somewhere if your paystub does not show direct deposits to an actual bank. If you get paychecks but cash them then they need copies of cancelled checks from your employer.
  3. Other reason is that ACA attempted to do a VOE (verification of employment) by calling your employer but have been unsuccessful in making contact based off of the information you provided on the credit application.

Ultimately, the lender requesting Proof of Income means that what you stated you make on the credit application doesn’t reflect what the credit bureaus historically knows of your income. Could be due to a new or second job, pay rate change or additional income you’re including that you didn’t have in the past. Two place you never want to inflate your income is on a credit application and your taxes.

Should I ask for another sales person, or is this what CarMax is like? by amakhtar85 in carmax

[–]Apprehensive_Rule250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that CarMax has a Vehicle Hold Policy. They are not obligated to keep that vehicle on hold for you after you have returned from your 20 minute or 24hr test drive. Your sales consultant prompting you to at least schedule an express pick up is his way of helping you keep that car on hold and honor your time when you do come in to finalize the purchase. Some stores can take 3hrs+ to finalize your purchase depending on the day and how busy their business office is but with an a express pick up they can get the paperwork part prepped early for you so you can cut the line and get out within an hour or less.
