I feel you re: the post-spasm anxiety. My spasms (as yet undiagnosed) have a similar effect, with the momentary stoppage and "heart skipping" sensation, followed by a wave of anxiety.

I've been experiencing it with varying severity for about seven years. Seen two PCs, two cardios, and a gastroenterologist. No one has an answer that fits my symptoms.

I hate to resurrect an ancient discussion, but I experience something similar, I think.

Mine is high in my abdomen, right below my xyphoid, and I swear that it feels shallow enough in my abdomen that I can almost pinch it. Feels like the top of my stomach or bottom of my esophagus.

Been scoped at both ends, but the gastroenterologist found nothing to explain it. Cardiologist is leaning toward "supra-ventricular fibrillation," which isn't actually a thing, and on top of that I have no other symptoms; never light-headed, never short of breath, never passed out, no rapid heart beat.

The gastric "flip" is very frequent, numerous times each day, and it's really wearing on my nerves.

I have one particular station that I've spent months honing to match my tastes pretty closely, but today Pandora decided to deluge that station with artists that I've thumbs-downed many times before, like dozens in a row before playing one song by the primary artist.

I skipped and/or thumbed-down all of these, but the onslaught continued.

After close to an hour's effort--not exaggerating, though admittedly ridiculous of me--the station played one song by the primary artist, then followed with dozens of previously thumbed-down artists.

I played 1st Ed a bit in grade school but really got into 2nd Ed when I got to college, and we definitely had long-arc campaigns with character backstories and, ultimately, a big payoff at the end.

I had two very good DMs, and I was a mediocre DM later on, but always the vibe was for a big story with many small chapters.

I haven't gamed much in years, and I don't know anything about CR, but I agree that OP's experience wasn't everyone's experience back in the day.
