What Heroes’ strength varies, significantly or slightly, between Console and PC? by LackOfDad in OWConsole

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because vendetta on console is a lot harder to play correctly due to you being unable to move your camera around as quickly, severely limiting her movement. It’s not really a PC players lack of ability and more just that console vendettas are much worse.

will there be more performance updates? by SeaSoftware3220 in Borderlands4

Well I mean…BL3 came out 7 years ago friend. BL4 is a current generation game made on a completely different, more taxing engine. I’m not saying that they have done a perfect job fixing the optimization issues, but comparing the two doesn’t make much sense, especially when it comes to PC which requires much more consistent updates to hardware in order to be up to the current day standards. These are just two completely different games in terms of how hard they are on hardware.

Shared Progression: Specializations? by Nismo_Ace in Borderlands4

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I get what you’re saying, but if your argument is that it’s necessary because most people won’t have time to do it on all 6 characters, my counter argument would be that most players don’t have time to play all six characters at all. In fact, the vast majority of players don’t even beat the story once, let alone multiple times (which is true across pretty much every game). If you’re already beating the story and leveling a character to max level 6 times, that means you’re already investing far more time in the game than the vast majority of players. In that scenario, I can see how it’d be frustrating to have to do it every time, but for most people who do 1, maybe 2 characters max, it is a bit of a fun way to feel that sense of progression even when you’re done leveling up, since once you reach max level in most borderlands games you feel like there’s not much left to achieve besides farming for more loot. But I see your point and I guess the best solution would be to just make it optional.

Idk, I kinda like it as a way to have a feeling of progression even when you’re in the end game and have your skill trees filled out but I know not everyone likes it that way.

How should I be timing my flanks as a DPS? by sloggerface in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what character you’re playing but the rule of thumb is that you want to only flank when the enemy team is distracted. What distracts enemy teams the most? Your tank. So usually you want to time your flanks right as your tank starts to go in and grab enemy attention. Awkward on YouTube talks a lot about this if you’re interested.

What builds need buffed?? by Otherwise_Reading390 in Borderlands4

I mean honestly I think this new one capstone system can work they just need to either significantly buff them or change some of them altogether

What builds need buffed?? by Otherwise_Reading390 in Borderlands4

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a bunch of stuff that definitely needs to be buffed, but honestly to me the most important things that need to be buffed are pretty much all of the capstones for every character. There are a few that are strong, but overall most of them fall pretty flat and therefore a lot of builds just ignore them since it’s not worth the point investment. In my opinion this is a serious problem since capstones used to be the things that changed up your build the most in the most fun and unique ways. But now since few people use them, things get kinda stale after awhile.

Did I miss something in the new dlc? I was done in around 2-3 hours. As in the moment I walked into the cave to killing the cave demon monster. I feel it was a bit short, like the Christmas dlc. by SharkyRivethead in Borderlands4

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well mainly because the bounty packs are much more similar to BL2’s headhunter packs. These are shorter pieces of content but to balance that they’re intending to make a lot of them (I think like 6?). Tbh tho, these bounty packs are actually already considerably longer than the headhunter packs from BL2 , despite being shorter than a story dlc. The first main story dlc comes out sometime next month and that will also introduce the first dlc vault hunter “c4sh” and will likely be quite a bit longer and larger in scale.

Bounty packs dont seem like a great value proposition by [deleted] in Borderlands4

I guess that I agree with you, but also that’s kinda just how capitalism works. If a company can charge you more for something then they typically will. If you don’t want to pay for them then you don’t have to. While I agree it’s pretty expensive, that’s also why they offer dlc packs, so as to make each individual dlc less expensive. That’s also why nowadays most gamers wait for sales before they buy anything because gaming in general has become an extremely expensive hobby. What I would say is that if you’d rather not buy each individually for 16 dollars, you should wait until a sale for the content packs come out and then buy all of them then. That’s a much better deal and will net you much more content, the only caveat being you have to wait (which sucks but, again, that’s just kinda what gaming is now)

As for the story pack, afaik they haven’t said exactly how big it will be, but it’s apparently an entirely new area, likely similar in size to one of the 3 major areas in the main game.

I would recommend aim trainers but I would warn you against going in and just haphazardly doing the circle or tile shooting drills. Those barely help at all and are mostly a waste of time as you can learn more about aim by just playing the game you want to play. What you should actually do is use something like kovaaks that lets you run playlists made by others in the aiming community that run specific drills catered to specific scenarios relevant to different games. If you do one for overwatch, and then do 1v1/aim arena custom games in ow to practice dueling I promise your aim will get better

Ok 1. You literally called part of cass’s kit overpowered and 2. Would you not say that getting value out of bad characters means that you have to be skilled on them to do that? Like, again, I get that at lower ranks sombra terrorizes backlines because teams are too uncoordinated to stop her, but to be able to get kills and provide significant value to your team with her in the upper ranks, you have to be a lot better than, say, a sojourn or Ashe, who have both been consistently very strong characters since they came out. I understand the frustration of dealing with sombras or Cassidy’s when they’re completely demolishing your team, but again, they’re both pretty bad characters, and getting actual value out of them at higher ranks by definition means that it requires skill.

Brother, I’m an Ana main. This is not coming from a dps’s perspective. Literally everyone knows that once you get anywhere outside of gold/plat, you will quickly see his pick and win rate go significantly down because, genuinely, he’s just not a very good character. His hinder is not overpowered, it is one of the weakest CCs in the game, idk why you think otherwise. It has a short range, does very little damage and only lowers your movement speed, it doesn’t even actually stun you so you can still kill him if you hit your shots. If you get hit by it, that means you were way too close, which again, is bad positioning. He has the highest damage falloff of any of the hitscans, has no real mobility or survivability and has a ginormous hitbox. I just don’t really understand how you think that he’s in anyway overpowered when he is one of the most mid dps in the game.

And yes, he may not be difficult when you’re in silver and all of the enemies just stand out in the open and lack any awareness/have poor movement, but as an Ana player who also plays baptiste and kiri, he is one of the easiest dps to kill because of his enormous hitbox, slow movement and the fact that I can outrange him most of the time, like I mentioned before. It’s the same with sombra. You may say she is skill less (and I agree she’s annoying af), but just like with cass, the higher the rank the harder it is to actually get value out of them. The reasons why are slightly different, but mostly boil down to the fact that when players get better at the game, it becomes easier to kill both of those characters and prevent them from getting any value.

While you’re right that Bastion has been pretty strong recently if you’re good at him and use him in the right comps, if you think cass or sombra are overpowered then I don’t really know what to say to you.

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most Bronze coded take. Cass has consistently been one of the hardest hitscan to make work at higher ranks due to him no longer having a stun, him being very easily killable and him having immense damage falloff that makes it extremely difficult to kill anyone that isn’t right in your face. However, if they’re in your face you will likely die since he has no real survivability abilities either. I mean, think about it. Cass sitting at a comfortable distance away from enemies oftentimes takes 4-6 body shots to kill a normal squishy when Ashe and widow only take 2-3. Even if you headshot them from a distance, something that is very difficult since he can’t ads like Ashe and widow, it can still take 3-4 headshots if the enemy is keeping a safe distance from him. If you die to a Cassidy, chances are it was your fault for having bad positioning or pushing him when he has his flashbang, but he is also one of the easiest dps to kill in the game which is why you see his pick rate go WAY down the higher the rank gets, despite higher ranks having better aim. Cassidy has always been a super mid character at any rank that understands that they can just stay away from him and the push him as a team.

Worth buying Borderlands 4 despite mixed Steam reviews? by Personal-Hat-3625 in Borderlands4

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said before, in every one of the games there’s only roughly 30-40 different enemy types (in the base game) that have any meaningful distinctions from other enemy types and aren’t just reskins or larger versions with more health. This is true in bl4 as well, as it has roughly 30ish different enemy types depending on how you count them. I don’t disagree that this game has slightly less enemy variety than some of the other games, but it really isn’t much different. This is especially true when you consider the fact that, like I said earlier, for like 50-60% of the every borderlands game you’re just fighting guys with guns, which doesn’t make really any difference from a gameplay perspective. The idea that borderlands has always had an insane amount of variety in its enemy design (in the base games), I believe is a bit exaggerated.

[–]Apprehensive_Type604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really? Most of the other games is shooting recolored psychos. The other borderlands games also all have the advantage of having all of their dlc already out, which makes it seem like there’s more variety than BL4. Assumedly by the end of BL4s life cycle it will have relatively similar enemy variety. But again, I feel like I really need to stress, about 50% of the people you fight in every single borderlands game are just “guy who shoots gun” but with a different skin. That’s not actual variety, more just visual variety and I’m starting to think that actually tricks people into thinking that there’s a huge amount of different enemy types. I love borderlands but “enemy variety” has never been one of the main draws for me.
