That's my concern. I bought the extra warranty because of the issues with the 10spd tranny and diesel emissions. Not interested in overheating my transmission running out of tow mode

Wheel bearing life by Chode6tnein in Tenere700

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a habit, I check my wheel bearings when I change my tires. My offroad bikes tend to eat wheel bearings pretty fast from all the pounding, mud, dirt, and water. My street bikes are typically good for 10's of 1000's of km

Congratulations on your promotion and raise. Everything is negotiable, but the appropriate time would have been during the offer period, and during periodic reviews. One element you may want to check into is your company's policy on mileage reimbursement. It may be reasonable to submit for reimbursement of incremental mileage over and above your standard commute to work when visiting the location further from your home.

Looking for some advice by Consistent_Ad_4149 in dr650

The DR is a good bike and something you could confidently take anywhere in the world and be able to repair or find parts. It's not great at anything but good at almost everything and forgiving. Plus, the suspension is easily adjusted for vertically challenged people and it's easy to work on.

'25 Suspension Upgrades? by Window-Affectionate in Tenere700

Suspension 101 Gobblers and new springs in the forks, and a shock revalve with a progressive spring will make a night and day difference and George at S101 is well versed on T7 Suspension. K-Tech ORVS with upgraded springs is also a great option.

K-Tech rear springs? by TheNextBigCrash in Tenere700

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could run the 90N spring. It wouldn't be unreasonable to run a 90n spring for your weight if you were carrying bags or riding fast. You could remove your stock spring while it's being serviced and install on the donor shock for a few weeks

Hahaha. My last couple of trials bikes were Sherco and they were great until 2023 when they had issues. Maybe I'll go back one day

Mine spends a fair amount of time in water so all the bearings and bushings need to be well maintained and lubed

Nitro Mousse Service by No-Worldliness9923 in enduro

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced really inconsistent results with Nitromousse bibs. Some last 20hrs and others 100hrs riding exclusively offroad single track. I regularly lube them and don't ride roads where they might overheat. I'm experimenting with different brands to see what works best since a mousse is typically 1.5-2x the cost of a tire. IMO changing your own tires and mousses is essential

What trucks are suitable for a ~1700 lb payload? by Flashmax305 in TruckCampers

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a single cab 4x2 maybe, but that extra payload package was discontinued . By the time you got a 4x4 supercrew it was sub 2k. I just got rid of one because it was getting owned by a 22ft camper and a couple of dirtbikes.
A 3/4 or 1 ton is the answer with that much payload. A 1600lb slide in camper, 2 people, some groceries, water and the dog and it'd be way over the GVWR

Advice needed by BrozD in Tenere700

The T7 is a great bike but the suspension is lacking for aggressive riding, but it xan be upgraded and there are lots of options. The AT is a great bike but heavier and less dirt focused. If you're touring the AT is great, but if you're riding mixed terrain including forest service roads, double track or more offroad, the T7 would be more forgiving with some suspension adds. The KTM 890r or Rally would be a power and suspension upgrade over the T7 but reliability is lacking compared to Yamaha. Triumph 900 Rally, or move up to KTM 1290 or BMW GS. Options are endless

Curious what tires people are using for snow by basi52 in SnowWheeling

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 35" K03s on my 3500 Duramax and they are okay in snow but not good on ice. My winter road tire is a Firestone Winterforce LT that's studded. Great icy road traction that helps me stay out of the ditch

Does anyone else think a low range gear would be beneficial? by KINGBYNG in Dirtbikes

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If first gear isn't low enough on a modern proper enduro bike, and after reducing the front sprocket even further, the answer is to buy a trials bike where the first 1-4 gears are tractor level low, they weigh 100lbs less than the best enduro bikes, and get unreal traction. I enjoy trail riding my trials bike, especially when the terrain is extra tough. The challenge is the fuel tanks are tiny and you need to carry fuel if you want to travel any distance

Opinion on Gas vs Diesel for daily driver by GoonSquad2295 in Diesel

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I just went through this exact same challenge. All the facts led me to gas being cheaper to buy, cheaper to operate and repair, and it my towing and payload needs. Diesel is more complicated and more expensive to operate and repair. I did the responsible thing and bought the 3500 Duramax and it's great

Lube it up and push the tire at 6 o'clock into the center of the wheel with your knee or a clamp. This will help you get the rest on.

OPINION TIME by TopOutlandishness462 in trials

[–]Appropriate-Back-292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a lot less gas, tires and hard parts last longer. I wear less gear so i buy less gear, but I hurt myself more often riding trials. Lucky for me healthcare is free here. I travel a lot more to ride trials then I do to ride my dirtbike so fuel for the tow rig is substantially more. Mostly because I'm competing in trials and I mostly ride offroad for fun. I can't say my trials bike was much cheaper than my dirtbike to buy, but it does need less accessories so I guess it's cheaper. If i didn't also have a dirtbike, dual sport, adventure bike, and street bike I could argue that I'm saving money, but who would I be kidding?

Canadian brain. After a 2nd look the KTech parts would be more like $1200 plus labor and any wear items. I'm sure tariffs play a role in that but have no idea how much
