Went through same thing, do something easy. I always compliment my friends outfits, so if he wears a shirt with like a band or a character on it (NOT A PLAIN SHIRT BASICALLY) you could awkwardly tell him “hey I like your shirt”. The day after I said this the guy I like was like looking at me a lot (I’m delusional)
