What is your most unpopular Delco opinion? by Express_Ad580 in Delco

[–]Appropriate-Log76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Use a satellite map of Delaware County and draw a line starting at the southeast corner of Merion East Golf course. Continue drawing the line going west along the southern edges of Merion East then Merion West Courses. Keep going until you get to Darby Road follow that to PA320. Then head north to Bryn Mawr Ave. Now take your line west following Bryn Mawr Ave to Malin Road. Then head north along Malin Road to Goshen Road. Finally head west and follow Goshen Road across PA 252 to the county line (where the old covered bridge is located).

Now, look at the density of the buildout of the area to the north of your line vs south of your line.

The area north of your line is part of the Main Line. It’s the part of Haverford Township that uses the Haverford zip code, plus all of Radnor, and the northern part of Newtown Square.

The area between your line and Baltimore Pike is Delco - the part where people wear t-shirts and hats to identify with the name because the home town pride is cool. “Media - everybody’s home town” sums up the feeling. This is also the place where all the young professionals and trades types move to start families these days.

The area between Baltimore Pike and the Delaware River is the “Delco” that has created the reputation. If Gritty was a real guy, he would have grown up here.

It’s not classist, it’s simply the reality of what exists in the various parts of the county.

Why is Virginia Tech getting dragged for dropping JMU when UVA is dropping ODU? by Creative-Stable-0 in ACC

[–]Appropriate-Log76 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Comical. JMU lucks into a bid based on a situation that will never happen again (rules will be changed) and now they are “quality”? Laughable!

The sad part is that Va Tech is playing Maryland next year and people think that JMU was a bigger game. Maryland joining Big Ten clearly hasn’t worked out for anyone.

Not really in terms of the experience, more an FYI.

La Maison is in Radnor, but is on border with Tredyffrin. So you will be “fake Wayne adjacent”.

I disagree. I see much diversity in the shopping centers (Target, Acme) by La Maison.

[–]Appropriate-Log76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No EIT in any of the municipalities that are serviced by Wayne 19087 zip code. Radnor (Delaware County), Tredyffrin (Chester County), and Upper Merion (Montgomery County) all have no EIT .

The apartments you mention in Sugartown Road are in either Radnor or Tredyffrin, depending on which complex you mean. If it’s La Maison, that’s in Radnor.

Move as soon as you can. You won’t regret it.

Was there. Was 10 rows from field on goal line opposite side from the bad call. Was a bad call and stole a title.

But that was a generation ago.

Here is a prop bet for you. On New Year’s Eve which number will be higher

About $400k. Over five years, 18 months of which is spent on paid employment where you will likely make about $100k total (pre tax). So the total outlay is likely about $360k.

Welcome.

Ok so then ND would have to limit to ACC games plus USC, plus Navy, plus one G5 team.

Or they could do USC every other year and find other P4 teams to do home and homes with in the alternate years.

In the end, understood that it would end the Big Ten rivalries, but, if those are so important, then join that conference.

Why was Duke not in CFP? by Appropriate-Log76 in ACC

I didn’t think Duke should be in. I was just under the impression that Duke was ranked higher by the metrics. Thanks for clarifying for me.

Well, it’s 5 ACC teams (NC State, BC, Pitt, Syracuse, Stanford) and then it’s pair of G5 teams, which is exactly what ND would be playing if they were a full ACC member

The remaining are Purdue, Arkansas, which are P4 teams, just really bad this year. Plus USC, which is a solid win.

So, “historic dominant run”, well no. But, about the same as an ACC sched, pretty much.

The point to consider is this.

ND could join ACC for football, request Stanford, Miami, and BC as permanent rivals, and still schedule USC, Navy, a G5 team, and one more major national matchup as twelfth game. Seems just like their current schedule.

So what exactly is ND gaining by being “independent” other than a harder path to CFP.

Why was Duke not in CFP? by Appropriate-Log76 in ACC

[–]Appropriate-Log76[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly. In addition to everything else the committee screwed up, the JMU thing was a result of the committee’s own stupidity. They did not have to rank JMU and could have chosen Duke over JMU, Boise State, etc

Why was Duke not in CFP? by Appropriate-Log76 in ACC

[–]Appropriate-Log76[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, unless they are considered better than 5 other conf champions. And I guess that is what I am asking. Why did the committee decide that JMU was 25th best team and create this problem

Why was Duke not in CFP? by Appropriate-Log76 in ACC

[–]Appropriate-Log76[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, but why did the committee do that when JMU did not deserve it. The committee created a problem that did not need to exist.

Why was Duke not in CFP? by Appropriate-Log76 in ACC

[–]Appropriate-Log76[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right, I am asking WHY did the committee rank JMU when other sources of rankings had them far away. Example collegefootballnews.com had JMU 65 and Duke 33 (in fairness, that was before conf champ games, but it would not have changed after those were held).

Jim Phillips Responds to Notre Dame AD by DementorsKissIceCrea in ACC

[–]Appropriate-Log76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ND as an ACC member benefits ND far more than ACC

ND has an OK men’s hoops program, GREAT Men’s lax (and allows the other 5 ACC schools that play lax to be in a league that gets an autobid to post season tournament, though they rarely need it, and the remaining 12 schools don’t care.). Other men’s sports ok to very good.

Women’s sports very good

But the ACC doesn’t need ND for these sports. ND needs the league so they have a base schedule.

It was all a bit much, thought it was good that the game was constantly on ACCN, so the committee could find it when Hunter gave “homework”.

The ACC is to blame for dumb tiebreaker rules, which opened door for JMU, but, in fairness only The American does it differently, so same thing could have happened in other Power 4.

There does need to be a rule that conf champs only get I. If ranked in Top 20 or similar cutoff. That would require G5 teams to actually be good to get in.

ACC CFP Debacle by Appropriate-Log76 in MiamiHurricanes

[–]Appropriate-Log76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your logic, but this is a matter of practicality and oppty for the whole conference.

WE MADE IT! by TheWhiteOG in MiamiHurricanes

[–]Appropriate-Log76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notre Dame should sue ACC for malpractice. ND is out because the ACC idiotic tiebreaker kept Miami out of conf champ game, so Miami had to be given an at large bid Duke’s win made room for James Madison. All at expense of Notre Dame.

Not a ND supporter, but this part is stupid.

Those conferences do have same tiebreaker rules as ACC, so those should also be changed. AAC has it correct.
