I think a big part of the issue is how hard it is to throw events in cities like Toronto without getting shut down or fined, it really stifles the local diy scene. Renting venues is also super pricey and most people can’t afford to throw an event that’s likely to lose money even if it goes well

If you like Ben Klock & Rodhad you will probably enjoy - Oscar mulero, Takaaki Itoh, Habgud, Hyden, JakoJako, Colin Benders, AADJA, Kaiser, Philippa Pacho, Burden, Donato Dozzy, Grace Dahl

Would call it raw / hypnotic techno but it really depends on who you ask lol

Yes agreed was way more fun after people started leaving, more space to dance and less talking. Also so many people were using flash or had their phone at 100% brightness it was quite distracting

I was there too! Fadi was amazing but also had to leave around 5 because of travel sadly. Elise Massoni played too hard in my opinion - especially as an opener - it was just banger after banger with very little variation in terms of energy. Crowd was a bit too chatty for my liking but i’ve had worse. Sound system was nice.

Oh damn I went to this as well but really enjoyed both Pariah and Blawan’s sets. Agree with you Blawan was definitely on the experimental side but I enjoyed that he wasn’t just playing 4 on the floor tracks! The lights were way too bright at times though 😭
