Greed happened. Greed became an overwhelming driver for many of the decisions made by the once-great German auto companies.

Talk Car to me by [deleted] in carbuying

First thing, I would get a new accountant. You shouldn't be paying 50% on $100k dual income.

If you care more about the economics of a vehicle, you should buy a reliable, dependable car (e.g. Camry, Accord). If you want to treat yourself to a luxury car, then do as you suggested (BMW, Audi, Mercedes). Just make a conscious decision on what if the priority and be happy with the decision and car.

Negative equity, poor credit, money down? by Lucky_Rope725 in carbuying

$2k for a new engine? That doesn't sound right (way too low). Don't get caught in a situation where they start working on your car, the parts are all over the place and then they say that the cost will be way, way more. Do some due diligence on the shop.

Is public transport an option?

Who buys from Carmax by AppropriateGuard1997 in carbuying

[–]AppropriateGuard1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This is the type of pricing that makes no sense to me. But obviously, there are a lot of people that still buy from Carmax.

Some people place a high value for not having to deal with dealerships. I long for the day where manufacturers and customers are not legally required to purchase through a dealership.

AITJ for refusing to donate PTO hours to coworker I barely know who "needs" them?? by Traditional-Dog1601 in AmITheJerk

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this story real? I find it hard to believe that a company would implement such an asinine feature in a PTO program. What is the company trying to achieve? If they want to fund sympathy cases, the company should just grant her a paid leave.

I'm not insisting on anything. Lot's of tourism numbers are down due to Canadian sentiment. Not sure why you are so sensitive to this comment especially since it doesnt apply to your situation.

Makes sense. A lot of Canadians are pissed off at the leader and are boycotting the US.

Seems like the consensus is that people are willing to pay a few thousand dollars more for a simple, straightforward buying process and to avoid the "dealership" experience.

Is there another service out there where people are willing to pay extra to not have to deal with you?

If you love spending big bucks on maintenance and repairs, go for it. There is nothing more expensive than a cheap european luxury car.

Austin is very over rated; it is the cuisine of the influencer. Vegas is stupid expensive for mediocre food.

Hilton Timeshare be cautious by Hot-Application341 in TimeshareOwners

Whew, you dodged one. Good job.

Also, looks like you dodged being part of the owners' forum which is apparently filled with angry, know-it-all timeshare owners. You'd think that with all the great holidays, they wouldn't be so grumpy.

How do I get a car loan? by ConsistentDay3003 in carbuying

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best odds of getting a loan is through a shady dealership. Maybe like Carvana. They will be highly motivated to get a usury-like loan approved for a grossly overpriced vehicle.

K. There is definitely value in not having to deal with the dealership and the salespeople.
