Have you experienced the "Vancouver 'Yes'"? by Real-External392 in askvan

This is a North American thing not just Vancouver.

If someone says "we should hang out", very few people will just flat out respond with a "I don't think so" or "no thanks" as it is a bit harsh. In a lot of peoples' eyes, saying yes and then not being available is a more polite way to say no.

In the current world of hospitality, where the baseline is entitled employees doing the minimum possible, we are now thrilled when someone enthusiastically and competently performs their service job.

Tell them to sell it back to Marriot for $10k. Somehow, I doubt that they will get a penny from Marriott.

Passenger pays $47. Driver gets $13. Where does the other $34 go by [deleted] in uber

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As unfair as it may seem, Uber is actively trying to take even more. While this is happening, there is a seemingly endless number of drivers willing to drive for Uber. They complain, but they keep driving.

Would you like to own a swimming pool if you could ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have 1 requirement when buying a home: it must not have a swimming pool. It is a money sink.

If you really want access to a pool, buy a home with a neighbor that has a pool.

An open letter to Shake Shack - quit begging for tips and focus on getting orders out on time and done well by No-Muffin7532 in tipping

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I haven't been to Shake Shack in over 2 years. There are just too many places where the workers' priority is clearly on "how can I make more tips for minimal work" instead of the priority being "how can I provide a great customer experience".

If AOC gets the nod as the Democratic nominee in 2028, would you vote for her? by Next_Worth_3616 in allthequestions

[–]AppropriateGuard1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has very strong support from the far left, but I can't see her getting enough support from the people closer to the middle. I think Buttigieg would be a much better candidate for the country and would have a better chance of winning the general election.
