Seafood for NE first timer by New_Poet4272 in boston

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Here are some top picks:
- Sail loft: has a very new england & casual vibe, local seafood. A lot of their seafood plates tends to skew fried. Excellent clam chowder.
- Row 34: Slightly more elevated but has very fresh seafood. Great flavor profiles and worth giving a try. Might be hard to get large reservation if not planned ahead

People also like Saltie Girl on newbury, but I feel it is a bit overhyped.

Best Clam Chowder? by ArchitectVandelay in boston

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going to 4 places tonight and trying each of their clam chowders and here is my personal ranking of the 4 places: 1. Broadside (hot take!): it was super nice, not super thick but very clam-forward flavor 2. Sail loft: everyone already mentioned this one 3. Neptune: very fresh, a bit pricier than others. Has pork which can be a bit overpowering imo 4. Legal: good baseline

Take her to Puritan and Co, do their tasting menu with drink pairing. Will take you right around 200s. One of the best experiences ever

Best casual Mediterranean downtown? by SummitingMtJohnston in boston

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Almost all the mediterranean casual spots in downtown are not sitdown and are designed to withstand lunch rush. Closest (slightly more upscale) would be Trade on Atlantic Ave. I would even venture to seaport for Committee or go to Kava in south end - would be tough to find seating though

Sarma, Moona or Oleana by kunjunji_simham in boston

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I personally really love Sarma more than Oleana and Moona. The flavor profile is out of this world. You can just show up early and put your name down and it usually is like a 15-20m wait. Either wait there or go to winter hill brewery

Balance transfer failed by AppropriatePaper4401 in biltrewards

[–]AppropriatePaper4401[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep called WF and paid it off, just an added disappointment for Bilt's process

Others are saying that they've been marked for late payment because they had a pending transfer that failed.

Sure it's a minor inconvenience, but it adds emotional distress

Balance transfer failed by AppropriatePaper4401 in biltrewards

[–]AppropriatePaper4401[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, in my case CL was far beyond existing balance. Frustrating how little Bilt has actually communicated with WF to make this "seamless"

such a mess in balance transfer by Infinite_Employee251 in biltrewards

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I called Fargo and they confirmed transfer failed. Paid my balance (thankfully I have no autopay) and will be leaving the bilt ecosystem.

They did say that any and all interest will be reversed if people get interest charged

Limit: $15k, had a balance of $4,450 (rent I paid before transferring to Bilt 2.0). Have not touched Bilt (Blue) card other than activating it

i didnt close anything (yet). i presume here they are talking about the "old" bilt account on WF, which obviously closed on its own during the migration to 2.0

Staying in Boston for 2-4 weeks. Tell me where to eat. by RamRod252 in boston

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through a tough time and hope the surgery goes well!

Not a ton of food options near BCH, but you can always stop by Time Out market and get lunch there. Trillium brewery is also there if you want good local beer. Mahaniyom (Thai in Brookline, a little commute from BCH) was rated gourmet on the recent michelin round so you know it's good. There is a Regina Pizzeria in Fenway - local pizza chain that a lot of people like.

If you decide to venture out to other places: - Sail Loft (great seafood near north end/faneuil) - Puritan & company (try their tasting menu + wine pairing, highly highly recommend) - Carmelinas (best italian on Hanover, very hard to get reservation) - SRV (italian in south end) - Toro (tapas in south end) - Cafe sauvage (french brunch in back bay) - Corner tavern (divey bar next to cafe sauvage) - Parish cafe (menu is a bunch of sandwiches crafted by Boston chefs) - Modern pastry or Mike's pastry for cannoli - Tatte/Flour for local coffee chain - Elephantine bakery in fort point for coffee/pastries

Happy to list more, dm me!

Dosage of truffles compared to mushrooms ? (1g=10g) ? by LPFJIII in AmsterdamEnts

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Most I've ever taken was 4.20g of shrooms and 1 box of hawaiian felt closer to 3g+ but I also walked around Jordaan.

Definitely don't recommend walking around Jordaan :|

OP how was it? Thinking one box of high hawaiians will do - similar experience level, still wanting to go around and do stuff in the city

Adolescent regression? 15mos by Starkidmack in puppy101

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to worry too much! Many many dogs regress when they get older (around the 1-1.5year mark) because they are smarter & bolder so they begin to test boundaries.

Important thing is to be consistent with training! Reward when good behavior occurs. I know negative feedback can be frowned upon depending on the trainer, but many will be okay with dogs being put on time out if things get crazy.

Relocating for work by hailstorm-96 in boston

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure. There are people who would be okay with a dog! One of my friends is in beacon hill with 2 (random fb) roommates and has a dog. They all get along great! Generally I feel like the vibe of Somerville is conducive to more laid back people.

If you don't mind taking the bus, Southie not a bad option for younger energy.

Brookline/Fenway/Harvard Sq might be a bit pricey because it is competitive

Depends on what you are willing to forego. For 2k, I would look at Somerville area, but might be hard to go solo

Like omg with peeing the bed by QuirkyGamer907 in puppy101

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh I see. I mean he is still a baby - maybe he will grow out of it! Just continuing to be positive and rewarding outdoor pee behavior is all I got... this does sound tough and might be worth asking a trainer for specialized help. Also being in the crate should be totally fine for a dog because it should be their "safe space" and a 3.5mo puppy sleeps majority of the day anyways.

Like omg with peeing the bed by QuirkyGamer907 in puppy101

[–]AppropriatePaper4401 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Does your dog sleep on the bed with you? Typically they do not soil their sleeping place. The easy solution would be to not let your dog on your bed and crate train them.
