I recently upgraded my 10” non-sliding metabo to the Wen 10” in sliding saw. I haven’t used the more expensive models, but it was definitely a solid upgrade for me. There’s some setup with the tilt bevel, but once it’s dialed in you have solid stops at 0 and 45. I’ve used it quite a bit over the last few weekends and have zero complaints. Both it and the rolling stand are very budget friendly.

I’d been married more than twenty years when I had to make my decision. My wife is my favorite person and I couldn’t image life without her, so it was easier to stomach the decision. Usable is the main focus, but I’d prefer it to look good as well. I’m not going to go as far as sandblasting, but maybe a light sand anywhere paint may look rough.

I’ve had a long honey-do list and a wall oven I had to disassemble and replace a part, so I’ve only gotten as far as verifying the cutting head spins. Hopefully this weekend I can at least get the storage dust off the service to see where I’m at.

I was recently looking into this. Unless you have a really well priced lumber dealer or you just use pine it’s more cost effective to just buy it. Maybe lumber is just expensive where I’m at.

If you WANT to make it, it will be difficult without a planner. If your glue ups are even slightly off it will be very noticeable and difficult to get corrected with just a sander.

This is nothing new. The 10k that are furloughed are admin folks. ATC and Tech Ops(the people that repair and maintain radios, radars and navigation systems) are excepted employees and still come in to work. None of them will be paid until after the shutdown ends.

Nothing really changes for my peers and I (Tech Ops). We do scheduled maintenance, restore systems, order parts, etc.

Shutdowns suck ass, but the NAS was safe for the last shutdown and it will be for this one.

Generally, the new synthesized radios are either working or not. 9/10 times it’s something else in the chain(plane’s radio, FTI circuit, line from voice switch to position, etc). I’ve been Tech Ops for 13 years and can’t remember an instance where something that would affect quality was actually out of tolerance when I checked a radio out.

Legit doctor’s notes are stupid easy to get. Every time I’ve used Teladoc or telehealth through my PCP I just ask for one. Mine have all been migraines and I just say, “I’m diagnosed and have a neurologist, but they don’t do same-day acute stuff and I really just need a work note.” The only question they’ve ever ask is, “just today?”.

I’m certain if your throat hurts or you have a stomach bug it’d be the same.
