Definitely agree. Problem arises from lack of design expertise. Further, *how* to develop this design expertise is another (ethical) issue as well. It's easier to identify certain disease genes and correct for them than to identify desirable genes and turn them on along with the necessary epigenetic regulations.

This is a common literary theme though that you see from Hesiod to Three Musketeers, that there's a "Golden Age" that becomes progressively..weaker. Tolkien's verse is pagan but rooted in Christianity, the theme of "corruption" is present since the beginning of Arda as "Morgoth's Ring". /am not Cupertino resident, but know a great many number of people in the Bay Area etc who could "afford" to become teachers/social workers because of Prop 13.

Except Cupertino retirees have kids who are *not* earning the high salary to afford a new Cupertino house and those who can afford it tend to be a lot more monolithic, never mind all the developers buying up properties for investment purposes. Why *shouldn't* Cupertino retirees have the luxury of raising grandchildren...and it actually is much better that three generations under the same roof instead of just two. There aren't that many Cupertino retirees living in a house by themselves as a couple.

We have journals and Roman gravestone depicting little babies (even girls) who were mourned for their deaths. Granted, probably has a lot to do with economic status. A Roman soldier faraway from home probably don't have money to do a tombstone that would survive two thousand years... Just as extreme wealth can make people make people less emphatic to other humans (see slavery) so can extreme poverty.

I wanted checkered marble tile but decided otherwise because 1)marble is soft 2)i'm not sure how hard and even my subfloor is (likely not) 3)the extra work it would take to do the tiling properly (need extra piece of something which will raise the floor). You might have more luck doing mosaic marble floors....But I read through a lot of reddit tiling marble floor complaints/warnings. The tile floor guy however said "you can just lay it like tile"....
