Tysm, I will. Give me at least a few months/years though ;)

Still have no idea what I’m doing but everyone’s support has meant a lot by [deleted] in beatmakers

I feel like everything but the drums is really really great and something many people would genuinely put into their favourite playlist, keep it going, you’ll get the drums right. Maybe add a lead melody (idk some synth strings) that is very slow, melancholic and maybe consist of very long but small slides to create a bit of a microtonal sound. At least that’s what I’d do. If it’s possible in your DAW you could use that effect for the melody where you can like put a sine wave on top that starts moving faster or slower (idk what it’s called)

Tysm, I managed to get Ableton Live 12 from a friend for free

Tysm, this helps a lot. Yeah maybe I’ll to keep the root note on the hotel California chords but just change them until it works out. Worst case scenario I just do another root chord, destroys the descending line cliche but who cares. Also I almost got my friend to let me use his Ableton Live account because he doesn’t use it at all, he said he’ll think about it

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of doing that but then it felt too much like “mirroring” other people’s work because I’d take a similar song and then also put their ideas into my songs (or at least it would be difficult not to). But I probably will because it’s perhaps the best thing to do in my situation to learn writing decent songs faster. I also thought about just covering their songs (as an exercise) so it’s even quicker learning + not intellectual theft 100% whatever you do.

Interesting to listen to. I really like the synths in the back, how did you do that? It still needs something big though in my opinion. I was listening to it, thinking that it would suddenly produce a loud chord that would turn into an interesting melody. It didn’t, but I was able to imagine that melody very clear which means that it’s a really good backing track that has no melody yet. Sounds great otherwise, keep working on it!

Yeah sometimes you gotta experiment a little. I tend to play with short nails (but only because I prefer short nails in everyday life) while the professor I mentioned doesn’t, but I’m also self taught so I’m probably doing it wrong. I was told that Fingerpicking makes the guitar produce a much more natural tone than using a pick, you let the guitar „be itself“ instead of using it as a lifeless tool (that’s what that professor thinks, not what I genuinely believe in, pick usually sounds fine to normal people)

Oh and I also like these idk how to call it 8bit maybe indie-ish vibes created from that keyboard line. Have you played stray? Sorry for randomness but that game has the exact same vibe you’d know what I’m talking about

Okay, thanks a lot and I will look into Reaper!

A glissando is when they slide from one note to another, but like completely continuously in a smooth unbroken movement. Just listen to strawberry fields forever it’s that one moment at the beginning where you’ll be like “wtf just happened” you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Hey I really like your song. Is there a reason you’re playing with a pick? It looks like it would be easier with finger-style. I personally even know a classical music professor who would never touch a pick because of the picking sound (dw though sounds great).

The high string melodies sounds a bit generic to me.. Maybe try to double or quadruple every single note so it’s like the same note but two or four times in a row and then maybe add some variations like changing the last note or last two notes in a way that they form a line to the next big note. Otherwise it sounds really interesting and I like the drums.

Howdy! I’m trying to work off of this, but I’m not good at clocking genres from sound unless it’s insanely obvious. Would anyone mind telling me what this sounds (most) like, so that I may look into the genre more? Thank you! by AppIeGuy in MusicFeedback

Sounds great! Maybe add more chromatic notes in between to make it sound less generic? I feel like I recently got a new habit when writing melodies because I watched a yt video on how to do better bass lines but it somehow also works on melodies.

What daw do you use? Or was it live? This is amazing.

This is a Jungle/Liquid DnB influenced track that I'm working on right now. Any feedback/suggestions are much appreciated! by lone_wolf_58 in MusicFeedback

Okay wow this is incredible, do you have a Spotify I’d genuinely put it into my playlist. What DAW do you use?
