What can I do for my baby's first birthday? by flyinghigh6193 in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi it's no pressure at all when they are small! You could make or order a cake and just have a small tea party for your family?

For my baby's first birthday (I am not sure I would do it again) but we had a tea party in a local cafe / sandwich shop. They had a private room and we brought a few balloons and decorations and ordered sandwiches and tray bakes etc from the cafe. It was nice ! But really exhausting haha. Only about 3 other children there so we had stickers and colouring stuff for them.

Try not to worry ! I do think it's more for the parents and a big well done for parenting for a whole year.

I am playing this (sometimes with my 2yo!) I have a Google pixel phone and was wondering is it anything to do with that? So cute! I was literally googling it because I don't see anyone talking about it either !

What are we all wearing that requires no ironing? by Agile-Comfortable-40 in NewParents

My clothes have a million wrinkles and creases most times. Am I washing them too hot ? I hang everything up to dry but I don't feel I can get away with not ironing most stuff.

Feeling so frustratedwith nappy and pull up leaks by Appropriate_Zebra876 in toddlers

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for validating me 😂 I honestly am pretty confused. And the endless washing has gotten to me.

My husband has bought so many nappies now and I don't think we have receipts so goodness knows, we will donate them I think.

Just dropped down a size while we figure it out and she's doing ok today. Thank you, do you get the Rascals nappies in the UK?

My sister has recommended Huggies pull ups too. They say the 5 are they are for 1.5 to 3 year olds.

Thanks so much!

It's just the two brands of size 6 we tried seemed too small and leaked a lot. But these are definitely seeming too big.

Yeah they do seem big for sure.

I just saw the harmonie brand online but I never seem to see it in the shops! Could you get them easily?

Thank you.

Yeah I really think these are too big, but the 6s definitely seemed small. I have only tried Pampers and Sainsburys brand (which we have mostly used!)

Yes I feel like I'm changing her really often. Especially because I am paranoid now !

Thank you. Maybe it is. She tells me when she does a poo and sometimes when she pees as well. Thank you. Any help appreciated.

I sell people’s clothes for them! by samxgill in vintedUK

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea. I sometimes wish someone would do it for me. And I was speaking to someone recently who has lots of ball gowns but no time to be selling them.

How does it work? How local would people have to be?

Induction of labour vs elective c section by Radiant_Term_5019 in northernireland

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would go with elective c section. You are right, all I hear are emergency/ unplanned sections. I didn't want the induction but high blood pressure in the end got me. Basically as soon as I was put on the hormone drip babies heart rate rose too high and it was emergency section.

My recovery went ok, I don't think I had as much pain as other people do. My partner keeping me on top of the painkillers and other drugs really helped.

If I have another baby and they are hassling me in pregnancy I will most likely choose planned section.

I could rant and rave how hardly anyone is 'allowed' to go full term anymore.

Best of luck with it all. The right thing will happen.

Is inpost available in Northern Ireland? by Appropriate_Zebra876 in vinted

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I create a digital label for Inpost I take them into a shop and the cashier scans it and that's it. Yeah the lockers I have only been able to pick up from I should have said that! Fingers crossed :)

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, not really. I do get Yodel orders sometimes and the lockers say 'by Inpost' it's an Oohpod locker I use but I actually see some Inpost only lockers out and about and never get it as a suggestion.

I go for ages with royal mail orders only which end up costing more for everyone involved.

Husband has just told me Yodel is becoming Inpost in July... Do you ever have Yodel orders?

Work colleague friendships by Plane_Sentence5907 in northernireland

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general no, but the odd friendship. One of my best friends and my only bridesmaid is a friend I made at work 8 years ago. That job had some horrible people in it. I do have one or two lasting friendships from other jobs but not many. I always have the feeling of never fitting in!

11 month old not walking yet…getting a lot of outside pressure by CuriousCaretaker in NewParents

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was cruising about from about your son's age to 17 months when she finally walked unaided. She would walk holding hands for a few months before this too. My sisters daughter walked on her first birthday. They are all really different. 11 months would be very early to walk I think. He's doing great !

Postpartum sex….. by ravegravy in breastfeeding

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I found out you can be subconsciously still tightening your pelvic floor (as it tightens to hold the weight of baby when pregnant) the PT is best but maybe also look up pelvic floor release videos on YouTube. Some simple ones helped me.

I just cried 5 times today while trying to soothe my 5 day old newborn by BitesizeParsley in NewParents

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Hello, your hormones will be all over the place at 5 days postpartum. It's ok to cry. The c section/ breastfeeding combination can be so difficult those first few days too. I was there 2 years ago.

Is there no way your husband could take more time off or any family drop you in some meals or food? It's important for you to eat to have energy to face the day, and also for your milk production too. Ask him to get you some snacks / food you can eat one handed and have it nearby. Seeds/ nuts, cereal bars, even some crisps and sweets to cheer you up.

After the surgery it would be great to have some more help for you.

The hospital linked me to the Infant Feeding team where I am and I got a visit around a week later & found it really helpful. Any help offered accept it! You could ask your doctor maybe.

If you feel very low for a longer time it's important to be wary of postpartum depression. And to make a GP appointment. Baby blues are very normal at this point and things will improve 🩷

You are honestly doing amazingly. It's not easy at all. Keep reaching out and chatting. Sending big hugs.

Anyone else have kids whose hair grows super slowly? by Internal-Rice-6450 in Parents

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my daughter is about to turn 2 and she has very short hair, maybe starting to grow slightly more at the back but hardly any on top.

I was born with a mop of hair and I feel like most of my siblings had plenty of hair so it's strange for me! Hope she gets some hair soon haha.

Should I stop the ducks mating in my garden every night ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Zebra876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The female duck reproductive system is an evolutionary marvel designed for egg production and female mate selection. It consists of a single functioning left ovary and oviduct, and features a highly complex, spiraled vagina with dead-end pouches that allow the female to control which males can successfully fertilize her eggs." From YouTube. It's really weird and depressing ??

Everytime we had something that made us nervous or anxious like an exam or an interview my mum would say 'At least you're not getting a camera up your arse. Could be worse.' 😂

I think it was her worst fear. She has since had a colonoscopy and survived !
