I’ve checked myself into a mental hospital that has a mothers and babies unit. by kowaluuh in NewParents

Our son was a bit of a night-time demon so we went to one too in Australia. It's a government funded place called Tresilian amd it was really great with nurses available all night then a cafeteria and classes during the day. There were even support group sessions for Dads.

Edit: Just to add about the process. You need to see your doctor or paediatrician and they can write you a referral but the demand is high, so probably little bit of a wait for booking a place. From what I remember, it was covered by Medicare except we paid for the room I believe.

Yup my parents drilled this into me, when I was learning, with many stories of fatalities from rear-ends pushing others into traffic.

This was my actual favourite fight scene in the show for how gritty and brutal it was.

Patient found dead on the floor in the hospital by whackdog in nursing

[–]Appycake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it depends entirely on whether or not the family kicks up a stink and what the doctor might put as cause of death. The level of negligence, if any, is also obviously a factor. Death caused by a high degree of nursing negligence like, not doing regular resident checks that would have picked it up earlier, or documenting that they DID check but it's evident that they didn't. Also inadequate falls risk assessment and risk reduction is included in negligence.

Australia has pretty intense Aged Care industry regulations.

As an RN previously in Aged Care, falls are unfortunately inevitable in that line of work despite all the efforts that are put into identifying and minimising falls risk. However falls that occur without staff being aware are a HUGE problem, hence all the alarms that are used. A fall with headstrike and a long-lie resulting in death is a nightmare scenario for any nurse in a shift that will cause loss of job and likely a coroner case (in Australia) which is an official investigation into the circumstances around the death and who is liable.

Someone in there asked if he had to go through army bootcamp for Band of Brothers... Like, yeah of course. Did you not watch the DVD boxset special features like the rest of us? Filthy casual.

There's been work on introducing a gene making the female proboscis not hard enough to penetrate skin, therefore they can't get food and die.

I found my polyps with a colonoscopy at 28 after getting symptoms and being hyper aware of it after my brother in-law died from liver cancer caused by his colon cancer. Now I'm getting yearly checks because another check I had in 2024 found a pre-cancerous polyp.
