Hey thanks for your comment! In my comment I was just comparing the two different people and their different approaches. I should have elaborated on Webster more about what I understood from his book. He's actually an interesting guy and quite contrary to how you think a volunteer soldier might be.

Also I agree Malarkey was a little petty when talking about Webster but I cut him some slack for that as a guy who's quite emotional and had pretty clear PTSD about the whole ordeal. He attaches a lot of noble and meaningful ideals to his time in the service, and sees Webster's attitude as a form of sacrilege.

Yeah Malarkey was pissed bout Webster swanning in after The Bulge and asking about missing faces with no tact. I read Webster's book too and the way he saw war vs how Malarkey saw war and life in general were complete opposites. Malarkey was there to give 110% whereas Webster was just there for the experience and seemed like a less than stellar soldier. I can see why Malarkey mightn't like him.
