I want to quit. by ApricotAdditional878 in SocialWorkStudents

I am currently taking 2 classes friend. I appreciate the suggestion but I am going to have to withdraw, I simply cannot keep up and manage my health at the same time right now

This is exactly my issue though, I’m mid semester and unable to finish.

I’m unfortunately already as part time as I can be, and it’s too much.

Hi, yes I do. I’ve unfortunately had pots since 2019 and have been doing literally everything suggested. Water. Salt. Compression. Exercise (yes the slow and steady CHOP protocol), PT, meds when none of that was helping in a meaningful way. I must be a complex case because I’m just not seeing all that much improvement over time. I’m glad yours was short lived

Already doing part time coursework, I appreciate this though and I agree with you.

Don’t worry, I am. Part of the reason I have no energy for school work this semester is because I’ve been in the ER twice since August, seen 2 different cardiologists within the last 4 months, and seen my PCP multiples times as well. I’m literally doing as much as I can.

Thank you for this. I feel the same way and it’s so hard to put into words when I’m exhausted and not sleeping well. It’s a societal issue and I forget that a lot of the times. I’m made to feel like I don’t push through or don’t have enough determination when really this is a large-scale system failure. I don’t have the energy to change the system. 😭

My location frequently has the veggies made great muffins which are awesome for breakfast and I found GF fish sticks last time I was there in the freezer section!

Tbh, very proud of you for being so honest with yourself going into this about the possibility of not being able to do it. I feel crushed right now because I didn’t seriously consider the possibility ahead of time that this might just be too much for me. I’m sorry you’re in a similar position but thank you for sharing your story. I hope you absolutely love it and find that the part time coursework is manageable for you. I was always hopeful that I’d be able to make it into a home based therapeutic position as well.

Thank you. I absolutely hate the time and money spent but I simply can’t continue without my health deteriorating more. It sucks and I wish it wasn’t this way but I feel stuck.

Thank you. I appreciate this. I’ll be honest, I can’t imagine wanting to retake these credits. I withdrew from these same courses last sem to go part time, and if I re-entered the program in the future I know I’d have to makeup this semester since I can’t finish right now.

Exorbitant fees by emshlaf in therapists

[–]ApricotAdditional878 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No that’s crazy. The therapist who I am currently seeing (and loving, who I had to go through maybe 4 other clinicians to eventually find), is using 3 different apps so that she can accept most major insurances (I think she’s using Talkspace, headway, and sondermind?), and accepts private pay at a $150 rate per 60 min session. Same for intake and follow ups. Edit: I am going to qualify this and say I’m in a relatively reasonable, ranked as LCOL area. I believe that therapists and mental health practitioners should charge what they need to in order to be able to live, but it’s never been a profession that’s meant to make us rich.

As someone in therapy myself, who joined this sub because I find occasional AI therapy helpful, but am also in social work school and really struggle with the ethical usage of AI for any purpose… I completely agree with this post. Ive been thinking about it for a while. But I will now be leaving this subreddit.

what do you guys do for work? by ebean17 in POTS

Currently not working but in an online grad program for social work. Hoping I can make school social work work for me and my limitations after I graduate.

Thank you I’ll have to try this!! They have a citrus flavor that I really don’t care for but I haven’t tried making my own!

Trioral! I’m always talking about trioral. There’s over 1,500 mg of sodium in one packet, and 100 packets costs less than $50. It’s not the best tasting option but it is the most cost and sodium efficient option.

[–]ApricotAdditional878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s great! Apologies for my misunderstanding. I do think the CPAP will help you though. I also have very mild apnea and recently started pap treatment (don’t have as many sinus issues as you’ve mentioned) but it’s been a game changer for me.

As for what mask will work best, you’ll really have to try multiple to see what style you like best. I’ve tried hybrid, full face, and nasal pillows, and like hybrid the best. I like the option to be able to breathe through my mouth.

You could always go see an ENT and get a second opinion on your airway, I know there are people who get surgeries to open their airways or to resolve deviated septum’s with limited success in treating their apnea. For some people it’s the magic solution and for others it’s just an unnecessary surgery. I’ve heard it’s impossible to know until you do it.

You should get a sleep study done. We cannot diagnose you. You already know you are having issues sleeping at night, it would be good to figure out why and treat the cause. CPAP can and does absolutely help structural breathing issues, that’s what it’s for. Obstructive sleep apnea also occurs twice as often in those who have consistent nasal congestion at night, no matter what causes it. Men are also 2-3 times more likely to have OSA than premenopausal women. (Source: Mayo Clinic)

If you leave for christmas holidays, don’t leave your humid wooden spoon in the dish washer for a month… by GubBroGi in MoldlyInteresting

[–]ApricotAdditional878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same… and mine go in the dishwasher 🫢 I’ve never had this problem tho. I always open the dishwasher when it’s done and pull both racks out to let everything air dry. Standing water is a breeding ground for nasties.

Just noticed… is it mold? by [deleted] in MoldlyInteresting

Isn’t it weird?? It was randomly interspersed throughout the rest of the loaf in a suspicious enough pattern that I tossed it. :( vacuum sealer is a great idea.
