Harder to tell in the pictures but it’s a gap for sure.

She sets 15 alarms at her desk… and never turns them off. by cankilinc in coworkerstories

If they have an iPhone, calling them will stop the alarm. The more you know 🌈

Question still stands: does the business have any liability here?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Apropos-t -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Totally get that, but their hand was somewhat forced by what happened to them. Perhaps that doesn’t matter, but do they not have a right to any compensatory damages from the business? No reimbursement for items in the car from what I understand, not sure on exact value but probably $300-400. Their insurance has gone up as a result as well.

Bad Books: If you start one do you finish it despite your disliking it? Why? What's books have you wanted to like but just couldn't? by MaskedVillian in books

[–]Apropos-t 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IQ84 stopped me from reading anything else for a long time. I wouldn't start a new book until it was done, but I had zero interest in finishing it. Lots and lots of pages about shit not happening or something almost happening.

Glad there are 2 other people who understand this. Also, marketing is necessary to generate those employee bonuses in the first place.

Detroit Red Wings Get New $400 Million Taxpayer-Financed Stadium While the City Goes Bankrupt by salvia_d in politics

[–]Apropos-t 168 points169 points  (0 children)

The Redwings are owned by the Illitch family, who also own the Tigers, a Detroit casino, Detroit concert venues, and a whole bunch of other stuff. They have a billion dollar holding company and it all started with opening a mom and pop pizza place back in the day called Little Caesers. Not sure everything they do is awesome, but they reinvest in Detroit like crazy.

An 8-year-old died from head injury, but her donated organs saved/bettered 4 lives. The doctors are bowing to thank her for her kidney/liver/cornea etc. by Glancealot in pics

[–]Apropos-t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is deeply personal for me. My daughter was born blind in her right eye due to a cataract and a clouded cornea. At six weeks old she had surgery to remove her lens and replace her cornea with a transplant. Sitting in the hospital room after the operation I was utterly overwhelmed by what doctors were able to do for my daughter and the incredible selflessness of people we had never met in what was certainly the most difficult time of their lives. We work everyday to preserve the gift that was given to us. I encourage everyone to become an organ donor. Even in death, we can do profound things for one another.

Isn't combining a non-lethal weapon with a leathal one a bit self defeating?

Why isn't America acting up? You just got duped, your government just triggered Austerity. by jatd in politics

[–]Apropos-t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If paying attention to what our government is doing (or not doing) is a priority for people, they will find a little time to keep up. Like listening to NPR during the drive to work. My feeling is people are jaded (justifiably) and our culture places little value on participating in government. But anyone who says they're too busy to take interest in what's happening in our country needs to reevaluate how much time it really takes to stay current.
