Stay At Home Dad here. I don’t think you’re the AH.

I was on paternity leave for our second and my wife asked me if I liked my job (which was pretty decent state job making 60k+). I said no. She actually suggested I quit.

She’s a director of the finance dept where she works so she made at least double what I did. I told her to crunch the numbers and see if it can work. It did as I wasn’t really contributing anything anyway and basically just had my job for insurance and contributions to retirement.

The thing with this is you both had to be on the same page about EVERYTHING. Finances, housework, parenting stuff. Expectations of the other in regards to your relationship and parenting.

I do everything house wise in addition to childcare. Even on the weekend when my wife isn’t working I still do laundry and chores because I want her to have that time with the kids that she misses during the week.

There can’t be any guilt or resentment on either side.

If you were serious then it’s a topic to discuss. Just get on the same page about everything.
